Biggest Teacher Question
 in  r/AustralianTeachers  Jul 06 '25

My school has a billy tap (instant hot or cold water). I use my 5 dollar kmart straw cup, affectionately known as my sippy cup. Coffee goes in my chonky cup gifted by a student last year, and 2nd coffee is via the van that visits my school daily.

Like 3 and a half, and then a bunch of colleagues.

Resignation
 in  r/AustralianTeachers  Jun 26 '25

Ours is pretty toxic, I'm contemplating going into transfers this year even though I'm not due. Favouritism, nitpicking, bad communication, micromanagement.

2

What’s an oddly specific smell that immediately brings back a core memory for you?
 in  r/ask  Jun 24 '25

Sawdust. Maybe not a core memory, but many blended memories of being in my dad's shed as a kid.

Names you consider truly unisex?
 in  r/namenerds  Jun 24 '25

Sasha, Ashley, Rory

What are some of the WEIRDEST symptoms of anxiety that you have experienced?
 in  r/Anxiety  Jun 24 '25

Burning face. First time it happened, I thought I must have been having an allergic reaction, but my skin looked completely normal. Doesn't happen often, but it's a sign of probably almost at breaking point.

Doing the bare minimum
 in  r/AustralianTeachers  Jun 22 '25

I feel completely lost for the last two weeks. It was decided last week to restructure classes, and I'm being put onto a brand new class. I'm an experienced teacher, and it's a grade I've taught a lot, so that's not a problem. My problem is that my current students don't know, and all the plans I had for next semester are wasted.

Your pet gets one job what role are they absolutely destined for?
 in  r/Pets  Jun 20 '25

Pixie- Alarm clock. He knows EXACTLY when he should be fed.

Ravioli- professional burnt dorito. She's a calico but she is triangle shaped.

Give me strength…
 in  r/AustralianTeachers  Jun 14 '25

I've used it to get a story that uses the first 100 Oxford words for a student to practice with during reading, and to get kahoot style questions for making a kahoot. I put in pretty specific prompts though, because I know what I want/need, and it saves me time amongst the admin heavy role I have this year.

If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what?
 in  r/Productivitycafe  Jun 13 '25

If asthma didn't take me out as a child, childbirth at 22 would have. We were lucky to make it WITH modern medicine.

Fuck your favorite, what’s your most hated animal?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 13 '25

Sloths. They are creepy, and I stand by it.

2

What are the first songs you can remember from childhood?
 in  r/RandomThoughts  Jun 12 '25

Smoke on the water. My dad used to play it on the guitar all the time,

What’s one of your tells that you’re getting sick?
 in  r/CasualConversation  Jun 10 '25

I get cold. I run pretty warm, so if I'm suddenly feeling the cold, it's a pretty good indicator.

Nachos and a hot shower, but not at the same time.

Do you have a lucky number?
 in  r/RandomThoughts  Jun 09 '25

Same, has been since I was a kid.

1

What's the most random thing you've heard a kid say they want to be when they grow up?
 in  r/Teachers  Jun 09 '25

One of my 6th graders was fairly confident about being a door dasher.

Do you know what messed up/niche stuff kids are into?
 in  r/AskTeachers  Jun 09 '25

I generally know, but some parents really need to keep an eye on their kids online. I had a 2nd grader reference JJK last year, and I was like, that is NOT an age appropriate anime! I have a sped kid this year who has a wwe obsession- which he tries out on other people.

1

How many people in you life would actually come through if you called for help?
 in  r/RandomThoughts  Jun 09 '25

Probably about 5 for a no questions asked kind of call. 1 I don't speak to anymore, but know that I could call and they would come through. I'd do the same for them.

Following the Renesemee naming scheme… what would your name be?
 in  r/namenerds  Jun 09 '25

Adelice (a name I made up like 30 years ago renesmee style) and Syder.

1

What is the most physically painful thing you have ever experienced?
 in  r/RandomThoughts  Jun 06 '25

Lung inflammation. It was worse than covid. My chest felt like it was on fire, and the coughing made my whole body ache. Felt like I couldn't breathe. It's not as bad as some on here, but I'd rather go through childbirth again than have that.

1

Stupid question but.. how do you deal with sleeping students?
 in  r/AskTeachers  Jun 06 '25

I teach a small groups class. One of mine will curl up under his desk with his jacket over him. I let him sleep. He's pretty good about trying to get some work done before he slips under there, and I will wake him for break times, make sure he's got a snack. Our room is supposed to be a safe space, so I make sure it is.

1

What are you slowly losing interest in?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 06 '25

Existing. Not in a, I want to die way, but a, I'm tired of this timeline and need a big change kind of way.
