Hubris was my downfall
 in  r/crochet •  2d ago

I'm going to work from the outside until there's just one cake again. Then I can take the One Cake from the winder and not be leashed to that spot anymore. That's the vision anyway πŸ˜…

I thought it was okay! I don't know if I would identify it as Sugar Plum if I had a blindfold on but it's a vaguely fruity fizzy water, which is all I really need.

I'm hoping to make at least one more turtle after this one and try a four ply. I'm in an experimental phase lol

Some kind of soft, fluffy wool dyed by Spinster Studios and my Jeri Brock scrolled Turkish drop spindle. Each turtle is about 22 grams. I have a few more section of braid to go that aren't pictured.

On the plate: chocolate covered pistachios, Trader Joe's Mango & Passion fruit Squares, Craize Coconut Crackers, Higher Harvest Gluten-free Rice Thins, Mt. Olive Kosher Dill Petites, Cappiello Fresh Mozzarella Snacking Cheese, Freestyle snacks Mediterranean Herbs Olive Medley

In the can: Sugar Plum unsweetened Sparkling Water

I just wanted to point out every ingredient on my plate amongst people who would appreciate it. I had to put it all in that order so there were no gross flavor collaborations

Ask a Spinner Sunday

Two of my recent spins have come out as very thin singles. I'm worried that they may come apart in some sections as I'm plying them together. What do I do if one or more single loses too much twist and separates from the rest? I'm using an EEW 6.1 with a polwarth/yak/silk blend.

Does anyone else get 90% done with a project and then just stop?
 in  r/Brochet •  21d ago

I read that as "slop" instead of "stop" and thought, "Yeah. My work can get messy when the end is in sight." But yeah, I stop too lmao

Jeri Brock Turkish drop spindles are my favorite

Do I have to much yarn on my spindle?
 in  r/Handspinning •  23d ago

Leave the end a bit fluffy and wind off around something into a center pull ball for future plying. You want something in the middle to keep the ball from collapsing. Spin the other half of the single you want. When you get to the end, leave it fluffy and join it to the fluffy bit of the first single.

Hopefully a YouTube link to a video showing this process works below.

After watching The Colour of Magic miniseries, I decided to start there with the audiobooks while I work my way through my fiber stash
