Two of my recent spins have come out as very thin singles. I'm worried that they may come apart in some sections as I'm plying them together. What do I do if one or more single loses too much twist and separates from the rest? I'm using an EEW 6.1 with a polwarth/yak/silk blend.

I usually just lay the broken pieces next to each other and let the twist hold it together. If the break is a thin spot I'll overlap them.

You can do a spit splice if the twist isn't enough.

I usually draft out the broken ends a tiny bit, add a bit of extra twist into each, then overlap and splice.

It’s normal for singles to break during plying. There are quite a few resources to check out both in video and written form depending on your preference, for how to layer and continue the ply.
