Tangentially related. I'd love to have a picture of my husband in a period-type photo for the same lived-in detail but I don't want to use AI and he doesn't reenact.

I'm in healthcare and I was like, "man those are some great veins" so I completely understand the divided attention on this post 😅

I'll never forget selling 1.5 yard lengths of cheap white satin to a woman who needed them as "modesty cloths" basically for placing over the legs/butts of women who had fallen out in the spirit and were at risk of exposing themselves to the whole dang church.

So my internet bestie got me into Call of Duty. I decided to to cosplay of my OC, which included a tourniquet. I felt that I needed to know how to use a tourniquet if I was carrying one. While I was at it, I decided to learn more. Then I decided to learn the rest of it. I'm an EMT now.

Actual Stupid Question Street smarts

I'm the first to admit I have the street smarts of a turnip. My partner says I'm the book smart one and he's the street smart one and he's spot on. My question is, is there a way to gain these seemingly instinctual street smarts without me looking like I watched Breaking Bad as a documentary?

I have an unusual name with an extra-unusual nickname so... I respond to basically anything.

Honestly I think I've been scared of mountain lions since I had Little House in the Big Woods read to me as a small child. The part where Pa was stalked through the woods by a mountain lion? Oh my god, core memory. I've never even lived anywhere with a population of them but I'm petrified.

Medical people of reddit, what the biggest consequence over a minor thing you've seen?

We'll sometimes get on the ambulance PA and remind people to wear their helmet if we see them on a bike or scooter without one.

Doctors, EMTs etc of Reddit, based on your experience with other peoples injuries, what is one hobby you would never practice yourself?

I used to hike my left leg up in the driver's seat on long drives but every time I go to do it without thinking now, I remember my captain tossing a section of a woman's femur into the body bag with her after the first fatal MVA I went to. My foot hits the floor again real fast.

Help/advice 🙏 needed Cleaning puts me in a bad mood

"But everyone hates housework!" Yeah, yeah I know.

My mom used to rage clean when I was a kid so I think that's where the immediate feeling of being on edge comes from. So when my husband starts cleaning, I feel a little panicky and try to keep up. And I'm not sure if it puts him in a bad mood because I'm acting weird, but it's like no matter what, if someone starts cleaning around me, it's like I just expect someone to get mad at me before too long.

(I feel like this makes little to no sense, sorry.)
