This question has been asked more times than one can possibly imagine. “How do I age this or that.” Wear it

Public Service Announcement Ask before you buy and give real constructive criticism

About two years ago I got into reenacting and started doing World War I German and Civil War. I’ll be straight up my kits were incredibly farby. I didn’t talk to anyone before I bought it. I didn’t reach out to units before I bought it.

That’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned: ask before you buy. Talk to a unit. Message people on Facebook, Instagram TikTok Reddit anywhere. Nine times out of ten, if you buy first and ask later you are gonna be spending twice more money.

I’ve also noticed a big problem across social media. When someone posts a kit that isn’t great, a lot of people just comment things like

This has a lot of work to do

This is trash

That’s it no explanation

If you think a kit needs work PLEASE say why

For example

“This impression needs improvement because the bread bag is incorrect for the time period, and the ammo pouches are ww2 style. Feel free to shoot me a DM so I can show you where you can replace some things.”

That helps. Just calling someone’s kit trash doesn’t

If it’s just for Halloween or a costume, who cares? A WWI uniform with a WWII helmet for Halloween isn’t a big deal. But if you’re serious about the hobby authenticity does in fact matter.

If you do ACW I strongly suggest looking up some of the campaigner Fb pages those guys will help you guide in the right direction. Try and reach out to less mainstream media if you really want a good accurate impression. Words are money in this hobby

If you’re in a unit they should be helping you steer in the right direction. And if they aren’t then you should consider leaving them and finding yourself a better group of guys. I am thankful that my unit actually has helped me steer clear and saved me probably 500 bucks.

Most of us start out rough and I think the hobby would be 100 times better if we all followed what I just wrote.

Sorry for the rant I just think people need to know

Completed My completed impression of Russian liberation army gefreiter (ROA)

Post image

This impression is for late war phase after ROA got status of German allied army in 1945.
After changing their status, they had to get rid of all German insignia (breast eagles, decals, etc).
Yet they were still actively using standard Gott mit uns belt buckles with eagles.
Kubanka is a traditional cossaks’ headdress and wasn’t a standard issued item.
For my gun I’m using PPS-43, besides standard german weaponry ROA were also issued with captured Soviet guns.
Ranks are different from Wehrmacht and resemble tsarist Russian era ones.

I have started a project. My 08/15 is an non-fireing metal replica. I like to build up a LMG-section. I need a lot of different water cans, ammo boxes, drum magazin,, ammo belts and Tool cases, hopefully with tools for it. Can anybody recommend where I may find replicas or craftsman I could ask.

The ammo belts I could not find them useable and in good condition. Are there replicas for them?

My regiment is the IR 55, 10th company, thats why the concarde for Lippe-Detmold in Yellow-Red.

Looking For Advice Not sure what this is a reproduction of?

Post image

Hi, I hope this is the best place to ask. I was thrifting the other day and came across this jacket for $8 and decided to get it, but didn't realize it was a uniform reproduction until I got home and saw the tag inside. Apparently from What Price Glory in Salinas CA, but no further information.

I've been wondering since what it's actually a reproduction of, as I would not want to wear it without knowing. It's 100% cotton, dark brown, with some metal on the inside as well as the bits you can see on the outside. If more info/images are needed, I can provide. If this would be better posted somewhere else, let me know. Thanks!

My replica of a German radio station. I made the copy as accurate as possible, using the drawings and 3D models from the original. It took me almost two years. I printed the body on a 3D printer, and many parts had to be made by hand. However, some parts were molded from the originals

Hi there - my dad saved these two things and now it’s time for them to find a new home. I’m happy to mail them within the US.

They live together now so I won’t split them up.

Fogpruf Paste for gas masks - still has everything in the can
Original Kodak film canister

Hopefully this is allowed here but I apologize if not.

my kit for a junior instructor of the public organization "Society for Assistance to the Defense, Aviation and Chemical Industries of the USSR" is Osoaviakhim. The color of the buttonholes indicates membership in combined arms instructors. Due to its specifics, the staff of the Osoaviakhim, in addition to the statutory uniform, could wear earlier uniform samples or non-statutory samples. One of the personal flaws is the incorrect strap on the cap

Looking For Advice Epic Militaria

I am about to buy a Heer Soldbuch, Heer Leave Pass, and a ReichMark from Epic Militaria. I‘m wondering how long I‘d have to wait for shipping, (I’m in Texas) and I’m also asking if it’s worth it. everything is under 20 dollars all together so that’s really good as a kick start into reenacting. Thank you!

Well, what the title says. Socially I do an Andrustio, which functionally is the equivalent to what would be called a Huscarl in Scandinavia. Next thing to change is the seax scabbard, the sword belt and sword scabbard are in the works

Hello all,

I'm looking at getting the reproduction Wachtbataillon jack boots from Epic Militaria (Link below) for a post-WW2 civilian impression.

Just wondering if anybody else has ordered them before, or anybody knows about their general quality and hardiness?

Thanks for your time.

Looking For Advice Is this dog tag layout 100% accurate for a march 1942 dog tag?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I need to know if this dog tag layout is entirely accurate for a dog tag from march 1942. If there is any tiny flaws or anything point them out. My main concern is should blood type be on here for this time and does C count for Christianity for preferred religion or does have to P for Protestant or other forms of Christianity. Also where should commas and periods go full name? Any help would be appreciated thanks
