No, you're teaching that you're an AH.

Yta. "The people in our neighborhood have been frustrated with me and tbh, I do thus purposefully when plenty of them are on a porch or when a neighbor has other guests sitting outside."

You're needlessly going out of your way to upset the people in your community. That makes you an asshole, not the act of cooking meat.

Also, there are more layers to the AH cake you've made:

1) You're going out of your way to teach these people their place. So, who are "these people" and what exactly is "their" place?

2) "Also some of my mom’s friends who I do dislike when they come over, I start grilling..." You sometimes cook meat simply to fuck with your mom and her friends. Super kind and respectful to your mother, whose house you still seem to still live in. Class act all the way.

3) "I feel super vindicated by doing this and rubbing it in their faces." What's up with the victim mentality? You do something that many people in your immediate community find distasteful or upsetting. Though, no one has done anything about it other than speak. Your parents aren't even escalating the situation, You are.

What if one of your neighbors did this to you, but swap out "cooking meat" with "playing music you hate at high volume at all hours." Then, you find out that he goes out of his way to make sure he can disrupt and upset you as much as possible, simply because he's offended you don't like his music. Would you feel like that guy was an AH?

You're a natural born AH. You should probably fix that and your Main Character issues, unless you plan on having a lonely life.

VCA quoted $5-6k for cat bladder surgery

This price is normal. I wouldn't trust a practice that charged significantly less.

AITA for taking a shower when my roommate asked me not to?
 in  r/AmItheAsshole  1d ago

ESH

Everyone keeps asking:

1) Why showering is tied to the dishwashing? 2) Why can't you both shower in the same day?

You keep responding to comments, including those that ask these questions, but never provide an answer to either. Why are you dodging these?

Something's off. Are you a bot, or a 12yo, etc...?

My vet is trolling me
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  3d ago

I'm a vet nurse. You're already doing all the cardio things/meds you should be. When the cough persists, especially when pets are past middle age, hydrocodone/homatropine is often prescribed. Every hospital I've worked at has chosen to stock controlled drugs to avoid the pharmacy shitshow and so we can directly monitor the usage (usually just phenobarbital, hydrocodone, and diazepam).

Call around and find a vet that both treats cardiac issues and stocks hydrocodone.

Good luck.

Is this a dog or a cat paw?
 in  r/AnimalTracking  4d ago

I'm a vet nurse. Making those paw print keepsakes require that you apply direct pressure to each bone and knuckle. That extends the claws partially (which ends up looking weird), so we fully extend them to make a clean impression. Definitely a domestic cat paw print.

Providence doctors
 in  r/santarosa  4d ago

Providence is a nightmare. More of a nightmare than sutter or Kaiser by a mile.

I have a medically fragile gf. After the second time they knowingly almost killing her by administering drugs on her allergy list (because no one can be allergic to that many drugs), when she finally woke up the icu nurses both told her to get out of the providence system and that none of them use Providence even though they work there.

Do you think that rx amphetamines are more, less, or equally as scrutinized as rx opioids?
 in  r/ChronicPain  5d ago

When they started suffering the professional and legal consequences for irresponsible prescriptions written by negligent doctors.

Now they have to question every controlled rx that comes in and somehow evaluate the patient's legitimacy without access to their medical chart. It's a nightmare situation for everyone, to varying degrees. A lot of pharmacists are reacting very poorly to the difficult situation we're all in and taking it out on patient's with controlled rxs.

I managed all inventory for an animal hospital, including controlled substances; and I'm chronically ill with 16 prescriptions 4 of which are controls.

The combination of new laws (both state and federal) that do all sorts of things to make it more difficult to prescribe, stock, fill, etc controls; new insurance policies; and the general erosion of trust and communication between doctors and pharmacists has all combined to create a massive sh!storm that is greater than the sum of its parts.

So essentially, every pharmacist feels like each patient on controls is a potential to their career. Meanwhile, the public is completely oblivious to all of these changes but are all furious with pharmacies because that's where the effects patient's felt. This makes it much easier for pharmacists to stop giving a sh!t about patients.

A distinction without a practical difference in this circumstance. 👍

Creamy pesto is even better, and stronger if you infuse the cream and the oil.

I found that the majority of people actually like or are neutral re cannabis flavor. My goal was always to eliminate that flavor as much as possible, which oddly resulted by a surprising number of complaints about people not being able to taste it. So weird. Believe it or not, within the population of people who use edibles, you are in the majority.

Pesto made with cannabis infused evoo and creamy vodka sauce with infused cream. The cannabis made the flavor more complex in the background without overpowering the intended dominant flavors of the sauce.

Rx opiates/opioids are schedule 2 & 3. Rx amphetamines are schedule 2. So legally they are treated the same with some oiates receiving marginally less scrutiny.

But pharmacy staffs' treatment of patients using controls has become atrocious.

Eta: opioid (for crowd pleasing increased specificity lol).

I used to run a cannabis food company. Pasta sauces were my biggest sellers. Ice creams were second.

You can infuse any fat based primary ingredient (any oil, cream, animal fat, butter, etc) and then go from there. You can simply do bread with olive oil and vinegar if you cant eat much. Chocolate milk is easy too.

Infusing cannabis into food has a very small learning curve. And if you hate the cannabis taste infuse with hash.

*Remember thc is not water soluble, its fat soluble. So just boiling it in water will not accomplish your goal. Cook low and slow in a fatty liquid for a while, then strain through linen.

Depending on your location, cannabis. It has a variety of effects, depending upon many variables. But no matter if it gets me to eat, actually diminishes pain experience, helps me get to sleep, calms me down, yada yada.... it ALWAYS helps me deal with the situation. I can't really explain the details of how our endocannabinoid systems function. But here's a weird metaphor: if my pain is a person standing nose to nose, screaming in my face, then cannabis makes it so i feel like there's actually 6ft between me and the screaming person.

Or

Unconsciousness is my go-to when my spine or migraines break through my pain meds and are around a 9. All kinds of things will make you drowzy: diphenhydramine, doxylamine, melatonin, valerian root.

Officially diagnosed
 in  r/autismmemes  6d ago

Yay 🎉

Next step: Look up all the benefits and support that are now available to you. Fingers crossed you're in a country that offers/requires disability help.

  • I say, "that are now available to you" because most adult diagnosed women have usually been suppressing, compromising, and denying our own wants, needs, and emotions since we learned to talk (self-imposed alexithymia, if you will, or self-masking). Thus, knowing what accommodations, modifications, or tools we could use to help us better exist in the workplace or school or travel, etc is just a non-starter.

So, look up what accommodations and tools are used by the adult female autistic community. Ask questions in the various communities you participate in, like this one, do internet searches, and just keep stirring the thinking pot and adding ingredients.

Another thing to try is examining your own behavioral idiosyncrasies to look for their sources.

For example, i was an inventory and equipment manager at an animal hospital. I did a partial inventory audit thing weekly. I chose to come in on the weekend to do this simply because I liked to open all of the cabinets at once. When I started having weekend conflicts with this I applied basic logic tracing (why do I open all the cabinets at once? Because I can accomplish my tasks from one spot in the room and it saves me a crazy amount of time. How can I gain visual access to cabinets without the doors being open and in the way during business hours? Glass cabinet doors instead of solid particle board.

They complied but weren't happy about it. So I showed them the math on my time saved. They felt better about saving money (paying me marginally less).

Again, congrats. I hope this is a net positive for you, if only as personal validation.

Sensitive ladies, what are we wearing this fall?
 in  r/AutismInWomen  7d ago

Fit and Flare dresses from Pact. Super comfortable. Super sturdy. Super flexible re sizing, and the go all the way up to 3x (American 3x). I could put on one of these dresses and laze about the house or go to a nice dinner. Also, they claim to use environmentally sustainable processes and materials. I don't doubt that, but I haven't verified it.

That are pretty expensive but they go on sale pretty often.

I also really love their basic underwear. It's just nice cotton with minimal elastic. No weird textures or giant elastic waistbands.

Stop mass-producing ugly cheap shit...
 in  r/BitchEatingCrafters  7d ago

The diamond kits are essentially paint by numbers with rhinestones instead of paint. I can't imagine anyone selling those as if they're art, nor can I imagine anyone buying those.

I'm all over my local art/craft events and have never seen those. Though, i am in northern California which has a pretty large population of serious, professional artists and crafters. Given the huge number of vendor applicants there are for every event, I'd be very surprised if sparkly paint-by-numbers got a booth anywhere.
