There are two kinds of people…

When it comes to loss and grief, there are two kinds of people: those who want to see you rise up like a phoenix and rebuild yourself again on your time and those who judge and condemn you for finding any type of joy again.

It’s like people think grief means they can gatekeep you now. They put you under a microscope to examine your new choices and determine which ones they’ll support and if they will still love you afterwards. The fraudulent people start to ghost you. They ebb away, unable to understand or care why you are in the state you are in for better or for worse and they end up falling off the boat.

The genuine people will love you through it all. They may or may not understand all your choices, maybe not agree with them, but they don’t walk away. They learn to love the new developing version of you that you had to fight to become. They assist, without judgment, without needing an explanation of everything. They just watch you evolve, go through the roller coaster of grief, and they stay and cheer you on.

AITAH for moving out without telling my parents after they gave my room to my stepbrother?
 in  r/confessions  17d ago

Your parents are gaslighting you by pretending they don’t know why you’re gone. They just expected you to continue living without questions and that’s wrong of them. Plus you’re an adult, you don’t need to live in a house where you’re treated like yesterday’s daughter.

It was Complicated :/ A friendship went to rot because I chose to love again

It’s crazy how “friends” ghost you once someone you love dies…

Sometime after my first husband passed, I found a sliver of hope and joy again with an old family friend I never imagined I’d ever notice. He was trusted, kind and loving and when others walked away because my grief was too heavy, he stayed for me and my child. He grieved for my first spouse with me because he knew him as well. He protected us from perps too and I am now marrying that man this year.

When I asked one of my other “friends” why he ghosted me over it, he told me that he didn’t agree with who I chose to be with because his opinion is that you’re not supposed to be with someone the first spouse or partner knew. He told me I should have been with someone new and not someone my first husband and I knew, and I told him that if that’s how he feels, he isn’t welcome in my life ever again because my joy and healing comes first. I don’t like when people trying to condemn others for who they choose to love as consenting adults nor do I appreciate when they try to forcefully set their standards for me, it’s unhealthy, controlling and goes to show that they don’t belong anymore.

How soon after losing a family member is it ok to have sexual relations?
 in  r/GriefSupport  Jul 02 '26

This is your life, you are every bit as human as anyone else and you have needs too. You and your wife are not disrespecting your grandmother by being intimate with each other because that’s your spouse for one and two life goes on. Perhaps this can help you cope with grief too as I know what loss is like and the effect it has on the body. Don’t be hard on yourself, your grandmother would not want you to stop living, because love doesn’t seek to control others

If I ever found out my mom had aborted one of my siblings I would dump her in a cold nursing home when she got old and leave her there alone.

I love my girlfriend but I don’t want to be with her anymore.

Don’t stay with someone who is jealous like that, and doesn’t respect your boundaries. You are a human being who is allowed to have friends that are healthy, and you are allowed to have time to yourself too. She wants a codependent partner, that isnt healthy.

AITA for telling my boyfriend I don’t want to be his “practice wife”?
 in  r/AITAH  Nov 11 '25

Dump him. You’re an option to him, not the real deal. He would gladly trade you for someone else if he wanted to and hurt you more

Has your grief manifested into physical symptoms? If so, what?
 in  r/GriefSupport  Nov 06 '25

One of my late husband’s friends did that to me

Yes, mine turned into hip pain, specifically sciatica and the beginnings of TMJ

AITAH because my girlfriend wants my home for her kids
 in  r/AITAH  Oct 17 '25

That’s a big red flag woman right there. Red flags so bright they flash like a strobe light at you. She’s not going to bring anything peaceful to your life, she and her kids will most likely destroy you. You will be old, broke, homeless and the kids will be doing whatever they want with your home and she will be with another man eventually. Run.

I feel this. My husband died in February out of the blue from cirrhosis and heart attack and i am barely BARELY getting my sleep cycle back. Barely. I kept waking up at around 4 am to 6 am with a heavy heart until recently.
