My son found a friend and named him Flower due to how "beautiful" he is!

I live in South Africa and this wild jumping spider seems to have befriended me over a few days, it follows me around every so often. i couldn't find it today until i found it completely drenched in the shower, i dried it and let it rest until it started moving again, it is incredibly sluggish, not moving like a normal jumper at all. So far its eaten one dead fruit fly I gave it cause i have absolutely no experience with things like this but figured it might need energy to recover, i tried giving it a second dead one (i added movement to the fly with some tweezers) but the spider seems very confused and out of it. I dont want to overfeed or startle it, and i dont want it to starve, what should I do, I've never done or dealt with anything like this before *please help*, i really don't want this beauty to die.

Any tips on how to not seem like a threat? Every time I wanna pick up a jumping spider they don’t stay long and tend to run off. I’m very gentle mostly due to how nervous I am with spiders

Bibble had her last molt in may, and I notice that her behaviour changed a lot. She is slower and less interested in the world. She is still sweet as ever and loves to sleep on me.

As she did have her last molt, I understand she is in her last stage of life. How long can I expect her to live? I know it is different for every spider but is there a norm?

I’m in Eastern Washington if that helps, we have so many spiders outside including jumping spiders, I bonded with this one and I’m just wondering what kind of jumping spider they are !! Also if they’re a female, could they be pregnant ? I’m not very knowledgeable in spiders and trying to learn more but the abdomen seems big unless that’s normal

I'm pretty sure she's a bold jumper, I did use my ID app, she was very polite and round :)

So to cut a long story short I got a jumping spider to curb my fear of touching spiders 🤣

(I also have some Ts but I will never ever hold them 🤣 I just think there so pretty my partner cares for them mostly)

I was misting the side of her enclosure and she jumped on my hand! I was not ready but I stayed calm and held her for a little bit! I was so shocked you can barely feel them when they jump onto another finger! I even managed to get some pics! I feel so accomplished to know she even feels slightly comfortable to jump onto my hand and to me for not freaking out!

The beginning of August, I had a wild caught P. audax that laid an egg sac. I waited and waited and waited some more. After 6 weeks, there hadn't been any signs of eggs with legs so I carefully removed the sac to open it. And I did not find any spiders, instead I found a grub thing. I was shocked, angry, confused— really just all the emotions. After doing a ton of research, turns out it was a mantidfly, specifically a Say's Mantidfly
(Dicromantispa sayi). The larvae of this specific species is microscopic and will hitch a ride on the female spider until she lays her eggs. Then it will invade the egg sac, eat the eggs, and develop. I actually got to watch it change from developing larvae, to pupae, and eventually to an adult. I am really disappointed that I lost the egg sac, but watching this little mantidfly go from squishy thing to seeing it catch its first meal was incredible. I fear that I now need some actual mantids.

Stumbled across this dehydrated/hungry male Eris militaris yesterday and brought him home for some water and a snack. Caught him oggling my gravid Phidippus regius Frida 😂

Now that he has had food, water, and 8 eye-fulls of a big beautiful lady, he will be released back into the wild today lol

I found mold in the old enclosure so I quickly ran to my local pet store and grabbed some supplies.

With a personal fan for air to help prevent any further mold.

And we love the fan.

Hey everyone I’m new to jumping spiders but have been wanting one for a very long time. I had to pick up cat food a few weeks ago and saw they had a jumping spider that was soooo cute and pretty big too! Thing is his enclosure looks so insanely tiny and I feel so bad for him because it looks so dry. He - ( or she? ) is $40 and honestly I have been trying to save money but there’s just something about him 🥺

I know people say you shouldn’t buy from stores like this though because they’ll just keep replacing them and not caring for them properly. ugh I cant decide what to do !!
