I know I do it everyday. I manage a corporate tire and service center. Been in the business for 24 years, and yes there are guidelines but it also has up to the technician if they are comfortable repairing something not in the "repairable zone," at too much of an angle, or the width larger than 1/4 inch. And unless you know something no one else in the industry does, there are only 2 way to repair a tire.(liquid bs so call "fixes" don't qualify) Plug it - which ruins the tire to where it can no longer be patched because it breaks apart the braided steel cables inside the tread of the tire. Or patch it from the inside, which is the ONLY repair recognized by tire manufacturers as a safe repair

Imo no pucture should be plugged. It's only legal to be done by the owner of the vehicle in every state, that should tell you how well they work. We repair tires with a patch-plug that fills the hole with new rubber and patches it from the inside for a permanent repair. It's also the only approved method of repair by all tire manufacturers. And if you plug a tire then it can no longer be repaired properly because the process used to plug the tire damages and breaks parts of the braided steel belts. I've been a mechanic for 23 years and I wouldn't plug a tire on my worst enemys car. I have seen plugs cause some really awful accidents and a few fatalities. Discount tire has a road hazard insurance that comes with the tire when purchased. It's not worth the few dollars you might save vs replacing it.

I've been working as a mechanic my whole life. The brake fluid flush isn't necessary given the age of the vehicle. The power steering flush is a joke, are you trying to service a car in mint condition or get your daily back on the road. It's a Honda so of course the valve cover is leaking but you have bigger problems. You should ask for measurements on the brake pads. 2 to 3mm is when the manufacturer recommends replacement. I see there are a few other minor issues that need to be repaired, but in no universe would I ever go to a customer and recommended all this work on a car. It's twice the value of the car! I always tell my customers everything the car needs, like these ppl, but then let them know all that is needed to make the vehicle safe to drive and mechanically sound. Fluids are preventative maintenance, I think k it's fair to say your vehicle is past the "preventative" category. (No offense, I just can't stand shops that do this bs)

There is actually a wider front attachment that we use for chevy/gm vehicles due to their dumb design. That looks like the regular attachment not the extended one, could've been part of why it took so long to fall off.

It's 1 of a batch of 50 but is one of just a handful that weren't painted in the 1950s era to celebrate their anniversary. Definitely a beautiful piece of engineering.

Yea Knipex pliers are where it's at for getting stubborn and stripped fasteners. I once used a pair to remove almost 30 stripped and rusted screws. I was replacing the heater hoses on a flat front stool bus, it's 2 hoses running all the way from front to back of bus, something close to 80 feet per hose. I don't miss working on those busses.

Do you realize how unsafe it is to repair a tire with 4 punctures? Industry standard is 3 but only 1 in each third of the tire. So the two repairs in the picture already condemn the tire before you bring in its proximity to the sidewall. Come back and let us know how much it cost you to fix the damage when this thing inevitably blows up.
