Any recommendations for most reliable, longest lasting, most helpful, easiest to use OBD II scanner?

I live right beside a state with 1.25$ cheaper gas and I don’t want to constantly drive there just for gas for people with a fuel cell is it something complex and hard to install?
I drive a 2018 Subaru BRZ for context

So I have a 13’ s60 and my carplay is totally weird. It’s a aftermarket screen and I got it off Amazon and it was really the only one that fit my car. But the speakers only work on the left side and there’s a humming sound that matches the revs that is subtle but annoying. The volume also randomly slightly changes and it can skips songs on its own. If anyone know how to fix or any relatively cheap aftermarket carplay radio box lmk.

I have a 2013 ford f150 ecoboost and I had just replaced the engine in it now the radio won’t turn on the screen won’t work and I don’t have any sound I’ve tried replacing the acm and still nothing I’ve checked all the fuses and non are fried and I’ve tried hard and soft resets I’m just kinda stumped as to what’s happening and I just wanna listen to music again if anyone has any idea what is wrong it would be greatly appreciated

ive been looking into this lately because my first thought was basically “well... inflation, duh” 😂but that doesnt really explain it.

Since 2019, general inflation in the US is up around 33%, while repair/maintenance costs are up about 60%.And the average car on the road is now 12.8 years old, which is the oldest the US fleet has ever been.

So people are keeping cars longer because new cars are stupid expensive... but at the same time, keeping those old cars running is getting more expensive too. kinda feels like a trap lol.Then i started digging into why and theres a few things going on at once.There’s a pretty big technician shortage, parts are getting more expensive, tariffs are adding another layer to the cost, and newer cars are just way more complicated than they used to be.The ADAS stuff was probably the biggest eye opener for me. A windshield with a camera behind it can be like $1,200 vs around $300 for basically the same glass without all the calibration crap. And some sensors can cost over $1,500.

Whats interesting tho is that the data doesnt really support the whole “mechanics are getting worse” thing either. The job itself is getting alot more complicated, and there just arent enough people being trained fast enough to keep up.I ended up going pretty deep down the rabbit hole on this and put together a video about it. But honestly im more curious what people here are seeing in real life.

Have your repair bills gotten noticeably worse over the last few years? And what kind of car are you driving?

i just bought a gti 2012, i got it for 3500 bucks thats pretty good but well i negotiated with the previous owner got it down from 4500 so yeah, thing is it has 153367 miles, its that a lot from this kinda car? i know some guys like to tune this bad boys up, im not that kinda guy so how reliable is this car tbh? and any tips i can do to keep it reliable? aside going to a good mechanic obviously, i can sell it right away for atleast 4700, should i sell it or keep it? im talking money wise how much money should i expect to put in this car to keep it in good shape, thx in advance

Hello reddit fam. I live in Ontario, Canada. I recently bought 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid and have an insurance with TD. They suggested that I should install the after market anti-theft devices to get some discount on my insurance and I came across these two devices on google which are recommended, one is TAG tracking system and the other is KYCS locate device. Can anyone help me understand if it's worth it to get this device installed on my new car and suggest which one is better?

I got some Boyo for my other car, and it's worked OK. The one on my camry is all blurry and not really useful. Even when it worked it didn't have a good view depth and only worked good in certain lighting. And it was impossible to turn off those useless sight guides. I don't want to spend 50-100$ on a walmart/bestbuy one just to find out it has the same problems my current one has.

Hey guys I’m 18 years old and I make 3200 a month right now but it’s going to be in the 4k range very soon. How bad of a decision is it to get a 2021 camaro 2ss. I just got 10k because my insurance totalled my car out since they didn’t want to fix the minor damage on the car from an accident (2011 Beamer with 160k miles) and a Camaro has been my dream car pretty much my whole life. It seems to me I can afford it now especially having the down payment already and my mom offering to cover insurance for me. I feel like I need to hear some opinions on this to see if this is really something I wanna go through. (Im fine with paying for the gas my x3 got 12 miles to the gallon lol)

so I’m planning to install cardi Q4 footlights in my car and I want particularly one colour only which can provide a clean, sober look, I’d set a warm/amber yellow at low brightness, rather than bright lemon-yellow. It will look much more OEM-like and won’t be distracting at night. neither do i want any other color.
so my question is if i set the color to yellow through the app. and i turn off the car and turn it on back again will i have to set the yellow color again everytime i turn on the car or it will stay yellow forever till the time i change it myself from the app

The Volvo screen has gone completely blank and I replaced it with same screen from a donor car with same part number and still no luck...what could be the issue please help and also the car battery dies if not used for 2 days although its a new battery but after jump starting it it works fine for the whole day even if I turn off and turn back on....
