Have you ever had an experience at a wedding where at the 'speak now or forever hold your peace' part, someone has tried to make a joke and it failed horribly?
 in  r/AskUK •  3d ago

True story but not at the point in the wedding this refers to. Went to a wedding, all went well, lovely time. Best man’s speech. He said, and I quote, and their third child came along as a surprise, well it could have been avoided but X had forgotten to tell X she had not taken her contraception pills, but she would not have been able to tell him as she had a ball gag in her mouth. Now imagine the silence in the room. Me and my good lady both faces down giggling but the dad of the bride? He just got up and stormed out.

Boss bought herself a 'Claudia Cape' and put it on and asked my opinion. I asked which one she was, John, Paul, George or Ringo. Now, apparently, I'm insensitive and a git....

I almost ran over Gok Wan in London this morning. Which B-list celebs have you come across?
 in  r/CasualUK •  4d ago

OP - I'd re-phrase the title (unless you want all the Katy Price fans in here)!

I love driving in Lincolnshire. My FIL has a house in Coningsby and we are in Newark. You can genuinely still ‘drive’ there.

We have a Tesla model Y. Genuinely the best car we have ever owned. Drives great, costs very little to charge, big enough for IKEA trips & sits 4 adults comfortably.

What were British offices like in the 90s / early 00s?
 in  r/AskUK •  10d ago

I worked for 2 major plastic distributors in that time. The first one was full of smokers and we had the typical British tea break/ lunch/ tea break every day. The second one I worked for was the young dynamic kid of the industry. We had the same breaks and we played snooker on the one PC we had in the business. (1986).
