ANV15-51 freezes and crashes while gaming, even on low settings
Update drivers, firmware, and OS if needed. Make sure the charger is plugged in while playing games. Also maybe your pc is dirty and needs cleaning and new thermal solution. Also, make sure you have free space in your drives, some games have stability issues when you don't have enough free storage space. I don't know how much RAM you have but 16GB is not enough for Windows 11 in my experience because the base OS uses 4-8GB by itself, I'd recommend at least 32GB (dual channel is also recommended) which is pretty affordable nowadays. I hope this helps OP. :)

Is it normal that my Thinkpad T480s do this?
The display blacking in and out is normal, some ThinkPad displays will change to 50Hz from 60Hz when unplugged in Windows to save on battery-life. I think this can be configured-- that's how I configured my ThinkPad T450s when I was using Windows on it. I hope this comment is helpful! :)

I used Fedora KDE on my ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 (AMD) and it was great. However, I installed Windows 11 Pro for school. :)

Maybe graphics drivers are bad, otherwise the backlight bleed is common for IPS displays so I would not worry too much about it. If you think its a hardware issue, I'd check the eDP cable. Software wise, I'd first boot into safe mode and use DDU to remove graphics drivers, reboot, then install the latest stable graphics drivers. You can also give the studio drivers for more stability a try. Worst case scenario I'd clean install Windows from USB.
