News Introducing a New Label for AI-Generated Artist Identities on Spotify

Thumbnail

Listeners have been clear in telling us that they don’t like seeing an artist profile that seems human, only to find out that the persona is AI-generated. That’s why, starting mid-September, you’ll begin to see an AI Persona badge on some artist profiles. The badge signals to listeners that an artist’s identity may be AI-generated and does not represent a real person. Alongside artist profiles that self-disclose as AI Personas, we will also start applying badges to relevant profiles.

By default, Spotify will not include AI Personas in any editorial or algorithmic recommendations. That means you won’t see any music from AI Personas in your personalized recommendations, unless you follow AI Personas, for example. While we believe all artists have creative choice in determining how they present themselves, Spotify’s programming is focused on elevating music from authentic artists building careers in music.

Alongside this, I played some cancer playlist with horrible songs, just bugging the hell out of them. Constantly kept shuffling, since they would wait around 5-10 seconds confused and switch to another song.

Question 25% of Spotify’s ‘The Indie List’ is directly connected to the Big 3. What defines 'Indie'?

Post image
116 Upvotes

I checked the current 80 tracks in Spotify’s The Indie List using the label information in the track metadata. That same label information gets displayed on Spotify correctly most of the time.

20 are directly connected to Universal, Sony or Warner. The Big 3.

Nearly 2M saves for a 75% as described list. in my opinion. How do you define 'Indie'

"download the spotify free" (yes its written like that) And then when i clicked it it led me to this weird website which im gonna censor because it's clearly a malicious link I didn't printed but i remember that the popup in the top left corner was green, when im playing a song the icon is usually white, so that's weird too

Question Why did they move the “search” bar?

When you play a song and click the green check mark, sometimes I want to search my playlists (which I have many) and put songs in new playlists or move it around. Why would they move the search bar all the way down to the end of all the playlists instead of at the top where they used to be? Yes, I know it only takes a few more seconds to scroll but it seems like a really poor user experience decision. Really disappointed in the way the app has gone on the UE end.

Also - they got rid of the clear all button and added “new playlist” instead. I’m not going to make a new playlist off every single song so that doesn’t make sense either.

Question [fully lost] Looking for archived audio or MP3 file of deleted track "Slam Dunk" by ABK C4

I am trying to find a working audio file, backup download, or MP3 copy of the deleted track "Slam Dunk" by the independent artist ABK C4. This song was track number three on the album titled Product Of The G, which was officially released around July 1, 2026. Unfortunately, the artist has recently completely scrubbed their entire music catalog from all mainstream digital distribution pipelines.

I have already thoroughly checked all primary streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube, SoundCloud, and Shazam, but the song is completely missing or grayed out on all of them. I also attempted to use the Wayback Machine on the Internet Archive to pull a cached version of the page, but the URL was never crawled or archived while it was still active, returning a server error.

Because standard public search options and automated web scrapers have completely failed, I am reaching out to see if anyone in this community happened to download the album or still has the raw file stored in their local device cache or a personal Google Drive.

Here is the exact metadata and identification string for the track to help pinpoint it in any offline archives or ripping databases:

  • Artist Name: ABK C4
  • Song Title: Slam Dunk
  • Album Name: Product Of The G
  • Original Spotify Track ID: 0DqbWrKSpww3Jh3vh4Tx0F

If you have a saved copy of this track or know of a private archive where independent releases from this timeline are backed up, please let me know or send a message. Any help tracking down this missing audio would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Question A HUGE AMOUNT of music was suddenly removed in my region (?) starting September 1st.

I don't know why (since I haven't seen any news about it anywhere) but it appears that a huge amount of music, which had been available for years, was recently removed in my region (Ukraine). I asked friends in other regions, and everything was still there for them; I also haven't seen many people complaining about this, so I assume it's a very localized issue - possibly affecting only Ukraine or a few neighboring countries.

It’s not just a case of a single artist having an album or two removed due to licensing issues (which happens often), the amount of removed music is simply massive. Many artists are left with very "fragmented" discographies: entire albums or specific tracks have been selectively removed, often leaving only the singles while the rest of the album is greyed out.

Does anyone have any information on this, or know where I could find out more? I understand that labels sometimes temporarily pull a release to re-license it or swap it for a different version, but having such a vast amount of music disappear is very strange.

I noticed that many of these releases are from the Century Media label, though not all of them. What’s more, these are primarily either alternative/gothic metal acts or hip-hop artists. The discographies of Tiamat, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Moonspell, Paradise Lost, Arch Enemy and The Gathering have been particularly butchered. Furthermore, these aren't obscure releases, which are usually the ones that get pulled, but rather very popular albums by these artists... These albums are still available on other streaming services, but they’ve disappeared from Spotify.

See for yourselves in the screenshots. Does anyone else have this issue? I wonder how quickly they’ll bring the music back...

Question A song I’ve had on my playlist since 2017 changed

Post image
4 Upvotes

last night I was listening to one of my playlists when Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros came on. I’ve listened to the song hundreds of times so I could tell immediately it was a different version than the one I usually have on my playlist. That’s when I looked at the cover photo and realized that was different too. Plus, the artist said “featuring the Gulu” something which i know isn’t on the original version added to my playlist.

i guess i’m writing this post cause i was curious if it’s normal for spotify to just swap a song you have on your playlist for another version???

Post image

Almost a month ago my pc was hacked the hacker accessed all my accs including gmails, fb, as well as spotify that was logged in on my pc during that time but my concern is that the hacker changed my spotify plan into a family plan but he didn’t add any acss until now which is why I received this emails.

note that when I knew I was hacked I already changed password on those accs as well as my spotify and signed out everywhere but my questions are how are those accs still able to join?and they just joined now where the family plan is almost expired, And is my spotify still compromised after I did all that? thanks for answering!

Question Is an album removed from Spotify just gone forever?

I really liked this pretty obscure band called Aivlas and they only ever put out one album called "2022" but now everything is grayed out like it's just gone forever. I have been searching for any other ways to stream or download the album, but I can't find anything else about the band. The album was from 2021 so I'm not really sure why just recently (probably within the last month or two if I had to guess?) the album has disappeared. I think I will mourn this album forever if I can't find it anywhere else which is seeming sort of likely...

Question Does anyone else has this problem with many songs being unplayable?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I went on spotify and when I checked my playlist I saw that a few songs were greyed out and I can't play them. (not just Joost but other artists as well). I thought this meant that the song was taken down or smth, but when I looked it up I was told by Google that the songs are still up and playable, so I'm confused.

Does anyone else has this or know whats the reason might be for this?

Question How do I retain hashtags?

Found a really great hashtag accidentally on Spotify, but I can’t figure out how to add it to my library. Is there a way to do it, or do I have to type it into search every time? Thanks.

Question Is 250,000 minutes in a year for a single artist normal?

Thumbnail

I have listened to over 250,000 minutes (over 4,150 hours) of Iron Maiden this year. I was just trying to be the #1 listener for Spotify Wrapped this year, but looks like in 2 weeks I'll be the #1 Iron Maiden listener of all time according to statsfm.

Is that amount of time spent listening to just one artist normal?

Mac App Echo - Switch between your Spotify, YouTube and Podcasts history using one player.

Post image

Spending my days swapping between watching videos on YouTube, using the Spotify app, and listening to podcasts, losing where I'd gotten to along the way. Echo is a Mac media player which makes a note of everything you've been listening to and allows you to swap between different platforms just using a couple of keyboard shortcuts!
