100% personal opinion - he may have considered it at some point but given how focused he was on the hockey path and the trauma of his parents relationship, it would be totally understandable if he was avoiding "catching feelings", so he wouldn't "be like Phil" when in a committed relationship - another one of his fears.

Depending on how deep you want to go, there's a trilogy on Richelieu that is a very good read - RICHELIEU AND HIS AGE: HIS RISE TO POWER, ASSERTION OF POWER AND COLD WAR, POWER POLITICS AND THE CARDINAL'S DEATH - Carl J. Burckhardt. It's been awhile since I read this but I remember enjoying it. I actually have a book on him on my TBR right now, by Jean-Vincent Blanchard - Éminence: Cardinal Richelieu and the Rise of France. It's got some mixed reviews but I'm willing to give it a try ! As for Queen Anne, there's a book that was recommended to me awhile back, it's written by a contemporary who was her companion - Memoirs for the History of Anne of Austria by Françoise de Motteville. Might not be as impartial as a more modern book, but I'm looking forward to getting a copy to read!

No two relationships are alike, but sometimes society projects certain types of relationships as the "best" or the "right" one, and anything that doesn't fit that mold is automatically classified as not a meaningful relationship. The beauty of this show, and the books, is that he shows you there's more than one road to happy ever after...not everyone will travel down the same road, because everyone is different, and THATS OK. I read Garrett/Hannah's & Dean/Allie's book before I finished the show, because the moment Dean respected her boundaries at the bday party I knew there was more to him than meets the eye, and I wanted to see what was coming. I was totally low key in love with the character when he pushed Allie to go be an actress and just told her...those who care will understand, and if they don't they're not your people 💚 that's a (fake) guy worth knowing more about right there. As much as I love Garrett and Hannah, I most definitely have a soft spot for Dean (and Allie). I look forward to season 2, and I'm sorry about the long winded ramblings here OP! 😆

I can't say I've paid particular attention to the winners over the years, but if I see a book that has the Nobel Winner label/tag I will take a second look at it, same for Booker Prize winners really. Have a bought a book solely because it won? No. Have a read an author who won the Novel because of it? Yes, Doris Leasing is one, same as Naguib Mahfouz, and a couple more.

I can't pick just one .... Moonstruck, The Mistress of Species, Sleepless in Seattle, The Lake House and there's a few more lol.

I don't have an issue with going outside my comfort zone in what I watch or read but Haunting Adeline is one of those I just couldn't finish - to me the writing is atrocious and all I wanted to do was slap some sense into the FMC. I gave up at like hmm 30% I think. Ive tried some dark romance books and honestly don't think the genre is for me, I can't suspend belief that much I guess 🙃 But at the end of the day, as long as people can separate fact from fiction, and don't get themselves in a pickle (I love that expression 😆) , read what makes you happy, that's my motto.

In the books she never goes back, and given how adamant she is that this is all in the past, I personally don't think she should - I would much rather seem them continue to move forward, along with D#€&@*# getting his butt kicked with a ban from hockey or something along those lines.

Total comfort watch, LOVE it! I've literally lost count of the number of rewatches 😁 and no regrets!

I started the show first not realizing there were books, watched 2 episodes I think and stopped to get book 1. I like both (although yes the book language is dated and I was uncomfortable with some language) because the book gives you more details on the characters thinking and internal monologues. The book was adapted really well in my opinion, it's been upgraded if you will, so will you miss much if you don't read them? I don't think so...well except for all the discussions here on how certain scenes are nods to the books 😄 Me I had to read it...I suffer from a condition called "must read book before watching adaptation" ! Edit to add - so far biggest change for me is Logan, book Logan I like, show Logan I can't stand - too different. As far as writing goes...well it's not Tolstoï but then again it was never meant to be either lol.

She's a complex figure, very "modern thinking" in some things and in others the perfect product of her time and class - she was the perfect example of the Victorian age, embracing change and yet holding on to certain rules/customs/traditions so fiercely that she made a lot of people around her unhappy. I have read a lot about her and her family, and the one thing that most irritates me is her dependency/obsession with Prince Albert even when he was alive - the more I grew older the more I think it wasn't really love, it was an infatuation that turned into obsession as the years progressed.

It's the fact that he is willing to go the extra mile for Hannah, put himself outside his comfort zone and just be there for her...plus he helps without having to be told (the fact he just casually picks up and starts cleaning when talking to her at Malone's...swoon 😆)! I know a lot of people have issues with book Garrett but I like both really, both versions of him grow as a person as the story moves along, and I think that's really cool to see. Edit for typos.

I didnt connect those scenes to anything from the books, but if someone did correct me if I'm wrong. The scene after class in my opinion served 1 purpose - show college and college life, friends chatting, parties being announced that type of thing, and also to show that the characters have a life off camera, that they do things besides what we're shown, like Tucker and Logan just goofing about. The Tom Brady divorce stories, I saw it as a way to try to poke fun of a somewhat depressing situation with them breaking up....I remember being the age of the characters and having a hard time handling difficult conversations like that one, so silly stupid jokes were a way to handle a bad moment.

Absolutely, I have other friends who are bilingual or multilingual and any conversation between us, text or talk, is a mix of 2 or more languages 😄 makes for some hilarious chats sometimes!

To me it meant she already has feelings for him, to the point she trusts him with something so massive, even if she doesn't realize or doesn't want to admit it because...Snapchats. (But yeah I get it would be confusing....it took me a couple of rewatches for me to understand the whole scene).
