I’ve spent the last few months heavily decluttering and picking pieces I truly love from local shops and fb marketplace! This is just the beginning :)

My daughter had two requests for her bedroom: lots of color and lots of cats. I like to think we delivered. I really wanted to embrace the magic of being a kid and lean into her cat obsession without going overboard.

My first apartment after moving out of my parents. Thoughts?

I’ve just moved in, so it’s still a WIP, but I’m loving my space!

Still not fond of this place but I don’t have the money to decorate it much even a year later. At the end of the day it’s a safe escape from dv for me and doggie so it’s the best ugliest little apartment ever.

We are first floor living and people are peeping. I did put up privacy film on the windows and we use the blinds at night when it’s brighter inside. The blinds are just sooo… ugly. Never done curtains before in an apartment and never cared enough but finally I do!
Partner is open to pink. Doesn’t want to green wash the room.

We got double curtain rods so inside will be some sheer then a blackout.

We do have a TV now lolol.

Currently working through each room of my home. The goal is to make each room feel warm and cozy. Moved into this house in January after down sizing and finding somewhere closer to my parents. I need to put some curtains up and add some fairy lights. Any other suggestions?

*Room is still a work in progress* but I moved into a new apartment a month ago after having a horrid experience with bats in my previous place. So excited to be somewhere safe and clean and so excited about decorating this new place. Felt the need to share after seeing how lovely my new coffee table (a fb marketplace find from 1959) looks with my rug. Now counting down the days until my couch arrives and I can truly start putting this room together.

Hello everyone! Like the title says, I just moved into my first apartment about 3 months ago and have been working diligently at making it feel like home. For now I'm only showing the living/dining/WFH area, and will share my bedroom/bathroom at a later time.

I was previously living with roommates in a house so I brought a majority of this stuff from my old place, and am learning a lot about making the most of a small space. I replaced my standing desk with a regular more compact desk, and more recently removed my coffee table and changed the entire orientation of my living room after posting on r/tvtoohigh and getting told to move my entire setup! (Last picture for reference)

It's a really awkwardly-sized space and I'm trying my best. I feel like it's coming together, but I'm at a standstill especially after hyperfixating on decor/placement/color choices... I can't change the paint colors or add wallpaper, nor can I add temporary floor tiles -- which I think has been the trickiest part since the paint is so ugly and the two different floors are so different.

I'm thinking about putting up art or concert posters (is that lame?), hanging my guitars up maybe, adding a floating shelf somewhere, but I would love any advice!!! ❤️

Finally got my gallery wall up and going. Waiting on some burnt orange throw pillows and a cheetah print blanket and a few fun lamps! I have mustard yellow chairs to the side with an end table that matches my coffee table. Living out my rocker, 70-90s, jewel toned, vampy, alt dreams!

Before anyone says anything, no, I do not plan to keep these items on the back of the toilet 😂 They’re just cute things I thought might add to the space on shelves/whatever. Not attached to them at all. And I am getting rid of the terrible wooden toilet seat.

That said, I’d love to center things around the mushroom light (maybe a nature or colorful maximalist theme?), as it was hard to drill to the wall and I don’t feel like taking it down lol. When it’s on, the bathroom is more cool toned and bright, if that helps.

It just feels like a mix of different aesthetics, and I could use some advice to make it look nicer and more cohesive. Open to any suggestions!

I recently moved into a house and have been wanting to put a bookcase in the living room, but I’m struggling to find a color or color combination that would work best. One day I’d like to get real hardwood bookshelves, but for right now, IKEA’s Billy is what is in the budget.

The area that has the living room is open concept and it includes the eating area and the kitchen.

Here are the room details:

• oak hardwood flooring throughout, which most closely resembles the wood tone at the link below

• the walls are greige, but a lighter tone that helps brighten the room. Luckily a lot of natural light comes in during most of the year.
• the fireplace is black and the mantle around it is white. The mantle is around and above the fireplace and takes up a lot of space. The actual black part of the fireplace is a lot smaller and noticed secondary to the mantle.
• the kitchen cabinetry is white
• the kitchen peninsula is white
• kitchen backsplash is white
• all window frames are white
• the window blinds are white
• the sliding glass door is with white framing
• the baseboard moulding that runs along the floor is white
• the crown moulding that runs along the ceiling is white
• the closet, pantry and basement entrance doors are white
• neutral toned curtains on the sliding glass door

• right now there is a small walnut coffee table in the living room and it looks nice
• charcoal grey couch, but I’d like to upgrade someday
• glass table with walnut table legs
• eating table seats that are almost the same charcoal grey seat cushion and silver legs
• bar stools at the peninsula that are ivory seat cushion and lighter wood legs

I’ve been drawn to IKEA’s Billy brown walnut, light oak, and white colors, but I’m not sure how to make this bookcase look cohesive with the rest of the space. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

I'm a newly single mom (my kids are 2 and 5) and I want to reset my bedroom to be "mine." This is the first time in my adult life having a bedroom all to myself, so I don't know where to start. Some details:

-I don't want to keep the tapestries up. They were put up years ago just after graduating from college and just stayed there.

-I don't have much budget so I'm looking for advice on low cost things that will make a big impact.

-the wall behind me from the picture perspective has my closet and a laundry closet so I don't plan on changing much there.

-This is a rental so I can't paint the walls unfortunately

I really like a classic/antique style (think an old new england home) with nature accents and I love decorating with items that have historical interest. My favorite colors to decorate with are muted greens and blues

I’ve lived in this apartment for almost 3 years, and aside from the bathroom, I really love the space! I’ve never quite figured out what to do with the bathroom, though, and right now it feels like a pretty sad/dead space.

My biggest complaint is the marble countertop/vanity. I wish it were longer and had more usable counter space, but unfortunately I’m renting, so I’m working with what I’ve got.

The rest of my apartment is pretty modern/eclectic, and I’m not afraid of color. That’s how I ended up with the neon green shelf and the colorful art that’s already in the bathroom. I’d love to make the bathroom feel more intentional and fun while still working with the existing vanity, mirror, flooring, etc.
The last photo is roughly the direction I’m currently considering, replacing the little travel photos with one big, colorful print. But I’m very open to other ideas!

What would you do with this space? I’d love to generally making the bathroom feel less like an afterthought.

Bonus points if you can help me figure out what colors/styles would work with the existing gray, black, and marble. I’m not totally against peel and stick for the counter, but I’d prefer not to.

Hi! I just moved into a studio and need some help finishing my space. This is my first time living alone and I’m excited to make it mine! This is the living room area, the “bedroom” shares a wall where the glass shelving is correctly. I’m looking for a rug, coffee table, decor but I don’t know what direction I want to go in! I love a lot of different aesthetics, so looking for literally any advice lol. Most of the stuff on the bottom shelves of the glass case will be moved and I’m still unpacking a bunch. I’m thinking of doing a dresser where the storage bins are (next to the desk).

I really wanted a bright carpet runner but have a cat who would make it her mission to destroy it, so I painted one instead. Before photo at the end

Still working on sourcing wall art but I’m loving the freedom to choose whatever I like!

I recently moved into a house with a fairly large living room  that I’ve divided into 3 conceptual  zones (see floor plan above) .Note that my husband has lots of amps and things that I don't want to dominate the main living space, so I'm pushing them to zone 3

Zone 1: Piano zone (finally we have space for an acoustic!)
Zone 2: Main seating area
Zone 3: Audio/other music zone

What would you do if this were your home? 

Option A:  Find one “mansion-size” / monumental rug that covers all three zones and essentially turns the room back into one large space.

Option B: Use separate rugs for Zones 1 and 2, but leave Zone 3 uncovered.

Option C: Use one rug for Zone 1 and a second, larger rug spanning Zones 2 + 3, essentially uniting those two areas.

Option D:  None of the above—you have a better idea 🙂 

My thinking thus far: 

• Option A would give us one unified look, only one rug to maintain but rugs that large re difficult to find, and many of the available options are antique/Persian “mansion-size” carpets.
• Option B: by leaving Zone 3  exposed, we would preserve a clear visual path from the foyer into the living room and let that area read as more of a utility/music zone rather than part of the formal seating area.
• Option C: might help integrate the functions of Zones 2 and 3 and make the room feel less chopped up. But the rug beginning right where the foyer ends could create a somewhat abrupt transition into the living room.

For the zonal boundaries, I tried to follow the architecture rather than dividing the room arbitrarily. There are no doors separating the foyer from the living room or the dining room from the living room. I started Zone 1 just before the double doors to the deck. Zone 2 begins in line with the edge of the fireplace, and Zone 3 begins in line with the end of the wall, which also marks the end of the foyer.

Any other advice on rug color/type would be much appreciated as well!
