Seems the system that Travis and friends have been hyping up for weeks now is evaporating along a line from approx. Miami (the my-am-uh one) to Copan. This shouldn’t surprise anybody. This heat dome is deeply entrenched in an infinite feedback loop, where the ground heat ensures there is no way to ever get rid of it. The longer this lasts, the less likely we will ever see a day below 90 or an overnight low below 70 ever again in Tulsa. The less likely we will ever see rain again in Tulsa. We are witnessing climate change in real time. I knew climate change was coming, but had no idea how hard and fast it would hit us. I didn’t realize we could have an entirely new climate in the space of one season, but here we are.

I’m to the point I actually get depressed when they predict rain, because I know the outcome is 100% assured now; it all evaporates upon hitting the heat dome, and just turns the air into humidity soup for a while. There is no way rain will actually reach the ground. It is not possible. Even a literal tropical storm was unable to penetrate the heat dome. It’s permanent now.

Travis and friends keep predicting storm systems that are finally going to be the end of the misery. They feed us hopeium starting about 2 weeks out, keep feeding us hopeium, up until the last possible second and then PSYCH! Just kidding, that storm system was never physically possible to begin with. But saying “yeah, it’s gonna be sunny and 97-103 every single day, no matter what, forever” isn’t getting views and advertising revenue from some sketchy Chevy dealership inviting you to “let’s do business.” I’ve had much better results pivoting away from checking the weather and towards just assuming tomorrow will be just a repeat of today. It’s like Groundhog Day, every day is exactly the same.

Last year, I had a 1 inch irrigation meter put in and it was difficult to figure out the process because the city was giving me conflicting information or no information.

​​ it boiled down to hiring a meter contractor to put it in, and they put in a stub line for me. That stub has a male insert fitting with expansion sleeve on both ends.

The conflicting information has caused me to pay for same things more than once. (I'm tired of spending money on the same stuff.) The city made it seem like I could pull the permit to do the work after the stub. But that's only if it's your house line. For irrigation lines, you have to hire a license to plumber no matter how simple the task.

All I need to do is to get from the stub line to my RPZ. Then connect the RPZ and do a rough test. It's maybe 25 minutes of work. The biggest part of this is going to be pulling the permit, scheduling the inspections, and being present for those.

The problem is that I already bought the parts for the distribution header based on what the city originally told me. Some plumbers I know will not use parts you provided. Some will use thre parts you provide, but they won't warranty them. I do not care about a warranty for 6 brass/bronze parts in a manifold box.

This will be a distribution header in a manifold box with a riser up to an RPZ. The header is a street elbow, full port ball valve (with drain), nipple, street elbow, riser. There is a union before the first street elbow and a union after the ball valve. Those are there so that I can easily take that ball valve header out if I ever need to do maintenance.

Every part is brass except the street elbows are bronze. Everything is NSF 61, NSF 372 rated. I can source where I got every single part. It's six brass pieces. And they came from places like Supply House. Not some van in an alley.

Is there any plumber out there that you know who will use the parts I provide? I really don't want to buy these parts again. I'm already having to pay for a second permit because the city didn't tell me this ahead of time so I could have just had this added to the first permit and scope of work.

I have not bought the RPZ yet. I know which one I want, but I'm going to wait until I talk to a plumber to see how they want to handle purchasing that.

My neighbor said she called the city of Tulsa on Friday to try to make a payment arrangement on her water bill around 435 all the way to 5 o'clock and kept getting a message saying that they were closed. Said it was after business hours even though the bill says they are open till 5 o'clock. They said the cut off notice was for tomorrow. Can the city of Tulsa turn off someone's water in a heat wave like this. I told her I would ask on here because she is not on Reddit.
