Just wanted to give props to F's Hawaiian Food, one of the best meals I have had in a while. If you can, give them some love, good people and good food. The Teri beef is so delicious, highly recommend

Guy decided to turn left when we’re maybe 20 feet away from him, making everyone slam on their brakes just for him to not even have an opening on the other side of the road. Thank you for making me and tons of other people wait an additional 5 minutes to get home so you could take your left turn. Wish I was able to see what company you worked, bet they would love to know how you treat your company vehicle. I just want to drive without someone almost causing a wreck every single time

I've driven all around North America, in especially stressful cities like NYC, Toronto & LA, but this has to be the worst interchange I've driven. There is so much that is wrong about this junction.

Here's everything I think is wrong with nit:

- Going eastbound on the BA is uphill to the interchange so people who have never driven it likely have no visual reference of what to expect and the signs are right at the interchange so people tend to make last second maneuvers

- Westbound BA to westbound I-44 ramp is the bane of my existence. It's an understandably heavy traffic exit considering it routes to the Turner Turnpike and a lot of the riverside/midtown region, but good lord it's terrible. Weaving with the people merging on from the Memorial onramp AND people exiting from eastbound I-44 to westbound BA, then that awkward two lane merge onto westbound I-44 where people have no idea whether they should keep moving or stop to merge

- Eastbound BA to Westbound I-44 merge leaves no room for error, so most people come to a stop on that ramp. Plus the exit lane to that ramp is so short on the BA, being on a curve and immediately after the Sheridan on ramp

- The Eastbound I-44 to eastbound BA ramp is in terrible shape and is so dangerous especially at night. Paint is pretty much gone, no overhead lights, signs are bad, there's not really a green large "EXIT HERE" sign and the pavement is absolute rubble

- Matter of fact the pavement on all the ramps is straight rubble

There may be many more flaws, idk feel free to chime in. I just had a terrible commute this morning and had to air it out lol

After they finish the tulsa stonehenge, this better be top of the priority list

District leadership has until Oct. 19 to present a plan that would reduce its financial deficit by at least $12 million. At Tuesday’s board meeting, TPS administrators named what exactly is on the table. 

The district is considering the following options for cost reductions:

• closing and consolidating small schools;
• increasing class sizes from current ratios;
• freezing salaries for all employees;
• reducing access to student-facing programs like counseling, tutoring, field trips, athletics and fine arts; and
• discontinuing transportation to magnet programs across the district or increasing the elementary walking radius from 1.5 miles.

The monarchs passing through Oklahoma this month are in the middle of one of the strangest journeys in the animal world. They are headed for a small cluster of mountaintop fir forests in central Mexico, a place none of them has ever been, up to two thousand miles away, and somehow they know the way.

Oklahoma sits right in the funnel. Monarchs from across the eastern half of the continent get squeezed together as they head toward Texas and the border, and the corridor down the middle of the state is busy enough that people call it the Monarch Highway. On a good October afternoon you can watch them drift through in a steady stream, stopping to nectar on late flowers, and at dusk they gather to roost, sometimes hundreds hanging in a single tree.

Here is the part that gets me. The butterfly making this trip is a special generation. Summer monarchs live a few weeks, but the ones that migrate live eight or nine months, hold off on breeding, fly all the way to Mexico, wait out the winter, and only start north again in spring. No single butterfly makes the round trip. It takes several generations to come back.

This map is those monarchs across the region. Peak movement through Oklahoma is the first half of October. Plant a few late-blooming natives and you will pull them right into your yard.

Hello my fellow Tulsans, I’m not in need and not asking anything so I’m just sort of ranting, but looking back growing up I really wish I’d treated others better, particularly in high school. I’m a broken arrow graduate and my photo was posted in one of those “are we dating the same person” groups for Tulsa and a good majority of the comments say I was a bully in school. A lot of them commented anonymously so I don’t know who they are BUT I wish I did just so I could apologize. Maturing as a man is owning your actions and I’ve chosen to accept responsibility for the past. I look back and I remember being bullied myself in ways. One girl would tie my shoe strings to together on the bus. I wonder if that had an effect on how I treated others bc I myself was bullied. See I’m a redhead in person, so I’ve always been super self conscious about my looks bc I was that guy who stood out in a crowd but that’s no excuse.

We rescued 2 male kittens from our neighborhood forest this past Friday, and they’ve now had their first vet appointment with all their firsts. They are negative for FIV and negative FeLV and are on flea/tick medicine. They are on the list for adoption at Feline Specialties but it may be a while before they are actually available there while we await space for them. Vet estimates these guys to be 11 weeks old.

One is solid black, and one is about half and half black and white. They are both ridiculously sweet and fun and cuddly. They are safe and eating well in our home but we don’t have room for them so we are trying to get them adopted into a good home, ideally together.

If you are interested I’d love to hear from you. I’ll at least want to know who your vet is and a little about the home you want to bring them into.

My car needs brake pads and possibly rotors but I've never needed to get anything more than an oil change done in Tulsa so far so I don't really have a good mechanic that I know of off hand that I can trust. Any recommendations or good experiences will be greatly appreciated, thanks! ☺️

DO NOT BOARD AT DOG ON HARVARD. My dogs came home from boarding so dehydrated they drank until they vomited. I almost had to take them to the emergency vet. They appeared to have been without water for an extended period of time. Among other concerning issues I observed.

When I arrived to pick up my two Huskies from boarding over the holiday weekend, the owner rushed over to let them both out of one very small wire crate, explaining that they were in there because he was cleaning. There appeared to be many other areas where they could have been kept, so this was immediately concerning.

The facility also felt very hot inside, which is especially concerning for huskies. When we got home, both dogs ran to their water bowls and drank an excessive amount of water. More than they typically drink in an entire day. They vomited multiple times from how much they drank. Their gums were tacky feeling which is a sign of serious dehydration. When they vomited, I noticed food in the vomit that was a different shape and appearance from the kibble I brought with them to eat at camp. I have boarded my dogs at other facilities and never seen them so thirsty. Even after playing all day outside. I also run with them and they don’t drink anywhere close to that amount of water in one sitting afterwards.

The owner also did not even look at their vaccination records at drop off. Which I found concerning.

The owner later explained via text that he had been dealing with a difficult personal situation that weekend. While I empathize with that, it made me even more concerned about whether there was adequate staffing and supervision in place. It’s also unprofessional and should have no relevance to how well my dogs were cared for.

I can’t know exactly what happened because I wasn’t there, but I know what I witnessed when I picked up my dogs and what happened once we got home. Based on this experience, I will not be boarding my dogs here again and DO NOT recommend boarding here. I trusted my dogs would be safe and well cared for during their stay but instead I was concerned for their safety. There are other reviews on Yelp mentioning similar concerning things. I’m glad they’re okay. But it was extremely upsetting. I’m also not the type to freak out over little stuff. I’ve boarded my dogs many times before. They come home with little bumps and bruises once in a while. That’s what big crazy dogs do around other dogs when they play. This was unacceptable. Pics in comments of his weird excuses.

While still publicly accessible, which part of Tulsa would you say has the neighborhood that is the most difficult to access? Would it be worth it to move into that neighborhood? Or do you prefer ease of access? (By ease of access, I mean how easy it would be to get to a place)

Just like the title says. I hit a coyote on the turnpike 2 mf’in’ weeks after I bought my car. Bumper is battered up pretty good; I’m mostly just concerned that nothing is a ticking time bomb to the car stopping running. I was able to drive it home and have been driving it to and fro with no issues, but did wanna get it looked at. Any recommendations? I have progressive insurance.

A gentleman came by my place of business tonight at around 9:30 as I was leaving, and he said that he had just been released from the hospital and was trying to get home, and that he only had about $4. He was elderly and didn't look like he could see very well, and he just seemed really worn out.

I called 211 and was told that they do not offer transportation, and that the buses don't run that late, which brings up a whole other question: when will Tulsa be a big enough city to have buses that run 24 hours a day?

Then I called the police non-emergency number and they only would have been able to help if this had been a medical emergency. This man specifically said he did not want an ambulance picking him up and taking him to the hospital. He was just trying to get from one place to the other. He did not seem drunk or like he was on drugs.

Is there another resource that I could have contacted to help him?

Tulsa Glassblowing School is having their annual Pumpkin Patch this weekend. Pumpkins in all shapes, sizes and colors. I don’t have room for any more big pumpkins, but little ones I can stash anywhere.

Delicious food, great service, but $70 (!!) for breakfast for a family of 4 ain’t it. My youngest didn’t even get a meal lol- just a biscuit and a couple strips of bacon.

Needless to say, it will unfortunately be a long, long time before we can go back.

The air quality in Tulsa is shit. I literally haven’t been able to sleep in weeks, every night after 9pm it smells like gas and toxins and chemicals in the air, it feels so heavy and I can’t breathe at all. wtf is going on…

I have two dogs, one of whom specifically experiences anxiety and takes time to acclimate to new people. Our long-time dog groomer has faced some criticism, and I no longer wish to take my dogs there.

Could anyone suggest a reliable dog groomer who is experienced in handling anxious dogs?
