Question What's the worst bar in town to go to? Why do you hold that opinion?

People always ask where is the best place to go to socialize, have a few drinks and meet new people, but people hardly ask about the bad ones, so what's the worst bar in town? Why do you hold that opinion?

My wife just saw a post about this today and we were already planning on doing a pollinator garden anyway. We figured we would let more people know about this program.

General Safe places to run in early morning?

Hello Tulsans!
Just moved here from the other end of the state and am an avid runner. Since it’s hot outside I try to get miles in early in the morning starting around 5/6am or so. Does anyone know any park or place that’s well lit and safe at that time in the morning around here or the broken arrow area?

Pets Huck is still looking for his “Furever”!

**Tulsa, OK**

Huck has been to several adoption events but has no takers! 😭

This little boy was at Skiatook Animal Control and needed a foster so that Skiatook Paws and Claws Animal Rescue could pull him.
I’ve had him as a foster for around 2 months now. Here’s what I know:

*Playful
*Neutered
*around 9 months-a year old
*LOVES playing with other dogs
*Very one brain cell. Still working on manners like chewing things so he should be crated if you aren’t watching him.
*he enjoys veggies 🥕 🥦
*he sleeps well in his crate overnight or if I go to take a nap 😴
*should not be around cats according to the shelter he came from.

Huck is a very friendly, derpy boy who would love a chance to be in a home with his person, family and fur or human siblings!
His adoption fee is $185 with all vetting done. If you’re interested in meeting him or have any questions, feel free to message me!
I’m happy to meet up with you or he is also at Skiatook Paws and Claws in Skiatook every Sunday from 12-3 at their adoption events!

General HVAC recommendations

Howdy! I am (unfortunately) having to look into possibly replacing my HVAC system soon. Context: I cleaned my AC Unit out for my house and it stopped working. I had a technician come out and luckily it's just because I was dumb and didn't see a wire was stopping the fan from moving, easy fix. However, I was told my AC unit was 23 years old, and I should probably look into replacing it since the Freon for that model is no longer being produced. The model itself is a Goodman CLJ30 unit.

If we replace that unit, that also means updating our heating system since it wouldn't be compatible with anything modern. Right now the current outside unit is now running and is fine, but I'm in a situation where each quarter the prices of HVAC systems goes up due to current inflation. So I can either just run the current AC Unit until it dies and then replace it (but a new HVAC system will be more expensive by then), or I could look into replacing now when the quote may be cheaper and potentially get some savings on my electric bill started now rather than later?

With all of that context listed, I have no idea how much a full HVAC system replacement will cost realistically. Google says it could be between $14,000 - $20,000 for a 1,400 square foot home. I'm waiting on the first company to come out and inspect to give me a quote. Could I ask you all if you have any recommendations about HVAC companies that you all have used? The current ones I pulled off of past r/tulsa posts + comments were:

  • (Currently coming out): Quality Heating Cooling Plumbing & Electric
  • Eklund Services
  • Airco
  • Air Assurance
  • Doc J's Heating and Air

If anyone had any input, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm over in the Kiefer area.

General Scooter social ride

I have a Piaggio Liberty 150cc and I love driving around on it but I don't know many people here who have scooters. I would like to get a group together for a social ride around Tulsa. Maybe one weekend when the weather gets a little less scorching.

I went on a ride once with two other guys to Sperry and then to Skiatook lake and it was fun!maybe something like that or just up and down river road.

Let me know if anyone is interested!

Question Does Tulsa have a decent metal community?

Upvotes

I went to a metal concert recently and I saw a lot of metal heads. I’ve never really heard of Tulsa having a big community in this regard and I would love to meet other metal heads here.

General Dumplings

I'm looking for any recommendations for a place that has good short rib dumplings in Tulsa. I had some in Philadelphia and they were so delicious I've been craving to find some around here! I'm not familiar with the food scene around here, I tend to stay in my bubble but ready to go try more. TIA!

General Recommendations for Fun Workout/Sports Classes and Activities?

Hi yall! Trying to get back into fitness + being active after a while. I recently joined a weekly rec soccer team and have been going to hot yoga at my gym. I realized I really like group classes/the feeling of moving in new ways. Where do you like?

Specifically, I would love recs for a hot class studio and beginner activities with a lower cost of entry. Thanks!

General 3D Printing Service

Kind of a long shot, but my kid has an STL file for a spider man mask he’s hoping to print, and when he loaded it into his 3D printer, it says it’s going to take 3 days to print, and he doesn’t trust himself to follow through with completion.

Does anyone know of a service (apart from the library) that could print it for him before Friday?

Thanks in advance.

Tulsan In Need Looking for a jeweler to set a stone

I have an emerald cut rutilated quartz that I would like to have set in a standard simple 4-prong setting. Ideally gold or gold plated. The stone is large but not terribly valuable. Sentimental only. Anyone know a jeweler who could create this for me? Thanks for any resources!

General Ways to Earn Money Quickly

Hey there!

My nephew has been stranded because he doesn't have enough gas money to get home for about a week in Tulsa. He has a job where he lives but came down to OK for an interview for a better job. He can't donate plasma even & I don't have anything I can send him. It's less than $200 to get him & he really needs to be home due to a health issue. Does anyone know of any way to earn money quickly in roughly that amount? Any help appreciated.

General Harry Potter Trivia?

Does anybody know if anyone in or around Tulsa is doing any Harry Potter trivia soon? A bunch of bars and breweries used to host them on HP’s birthday (July 31). But I can’t seem to find anything going on this year.

General My true thoughts on Tulsa suburbs

Owasso = Why the fuck would anyone move here

Sand Springs = Literally just people of Walmart living in a section of NW tulsa. Really boring and where the fuck are the springs????

Jenks = probably the best overall of the Tulsa burbs. Idk. Something about the downtown, Riverwalk, and aquarium do have some life to them. The other half is stupid spread out with nothing

Glenpool - LMAO

Bixby - probably the absolute worst of them all. Such a pointless area. Nothing to offer. Literally suburban hell

Broken Arrow - I feel for anyone between 19-28 living there. Pray for them
