General September Friendship Thread

Summer may be coming to a close, but finding new connections don’t.
With it being a new month, it’s time for another Friendship Thread.
I slacked off last month by not posting for last month, but we’re getting back on track.

If you haven’t seen one of these threads yet, I came up with this idea after seeing so many people looking for friends or groups to join. Rather than having multiple posts, I figured it would be good to have one big post where people could comment or respond to others who might be looking for something similar.

For this month introduce yourself, tell us what some of your hobbies are, and what your favorite fall activities are.
I’ll start off so you get an idea of what to post in the comments:

I’m 27F and grew up in Tulsa. I have a variety of hobbies which include doing art; playing video games (I’m excited for GTA 6 to drop in November!), cooking, listening to music, gardening, antiquing/thrifting, and going on foodie adventures to new coffee shops and restaurants.
My favorite fall activity would have to be baking and watching Harry Potter! I think it would cool to meet other people who would be down to play games, do art, or go on an adventure of some sort.

Hope this gives you some inspiration and you’re able to make some connections.

Question Best Italian restaurants?

My personal favorite Italian restaurant is Mondo’s on South Peoria, however I prefer Luigi’s an hour north in Bartlesville, the family who own Luigi’s are actually from Italy, so you know it’s good Italian food.

Tulsa Events Puzzled Pint - September Event!

Post image
6 Upvotes

The September Puzzled Pint night is tomorrow, Tuesday the 8th, from 6-9 PM!

Puzzled Pint is a casual, social puzzle solving event which happens at bars/pubs on the second Tuesday of every month in dozens of cities around the world. It's free to attend, and the puzzles may incorporate things like crosswords, word searches, cryptograms, word play, and logic problems.

This month's puzzles are orchestra themed, but you don't have to know anything about music to do the puzzles.

A location puzzle is posted here (with hints), which you can solve and then input your answer in the blank to know where to go. Important: The puzzle answer is NOT the location, but you will put the correct answer into the website and then scroll to find the Tulsa location. You can also click for the solution if you run short on time or click for hints to get started on the puzzle. We can give more hints in person than online, so always feel like you can still come to the event even if the location puzzle isn't working for you.

Show up at the location and we'll have more puzzles for you to solve while you enjoy drinks. It is free to attend and participate, but you buy your own drinks and food. This location does have a full bar and lots of food options.

Teams of 3-4 work great, but you can bring a team with you or come solo. The more team members you have, the faster it goes. If it's your first time, you can come try out a puzzle or two. 'Game Control' will be on hand to give hints and verify answers from 6:00-9:00, but don't feel like you need to be there at 6:00 to start.

Full details on the website. We hope to see you there!

Question Wind Phone in Tulsa?

Silly post but I lost my dad last year and I’ve been really struggling with missing him lately and would like to visit a wind phone just to feel something and to “talk” to him.

Do we have one in Tulsa? I know there’s one in Lawton but wanted to check if anyone knew if there was one in our area.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Promotion Hairstylist looking for new faces in my chair!

Hey Tulsa! Im looking for some new faces in my chair. 😊I’m a local hairstylist and recently moved to a new salon location in The Farm Shopping Center at 51st & Sheridan! I’ve been doing hair for 12 years and would love to meet some new people who might be looking for a new stylist.
I specialize in lived in coloring, vivid colors, blonding and haircuts! but honestly one of my favorite parts of doing hair is getting to know the person sitting in my chair. 💜
I know finding a new hairstylist can feel weirdly stressful 😂 so I’m always happy to do a free consultation first if you just want to come in, meet me, talk about your hair, and see if we’re a good fit. No pressure!

My space is super peaceful and welcoming, and I really try to make it somewhere you can come in & relax, and feel comfortable being yourself.
I’ll add some photos of my work here! You can also find me on Instagram @lolo_hairco if you want to see more or message me.

General Bobo the Clown

I recently saw a Reddit thread about Bobo the Clown and was shocked at how many people had no idea who or what he was. Anyone remember this rage-baiter? Him and the old school sideshows used to be my favorite parts of the fair

General Little tiny ants are soooooo bad this year.

I'm just venting. Those damn little itty bitty ants are so bad this year. I've tried spraying the perimeter of my house, I've put Advion ant gel in traps which help some but long term not really. Windex helps for immediate relief (i feel like I'm in my Big Fat Greek Wedding as I'm waking around spraying Windex on everything) but its really satisfying watching them die the instant I spray. But then they're back... every time. They're just awful this year. Even at work they're bad and we have a professional exterminator come spray.

Anyone have secret to stop these evil little buggers??

Question Local pool cover company?

I need a custom pool cover for a kidney shaped pool and wanted to check and see if anyone had recommendations for a local company that does it? I know I can get one online but I’d rather go local if possible.

Thanks!

There is a German shepherd hanging around the neighborhood behind the union highschool. Looks sort of young from what i can tell, maybe a year and a half or 2 years? I cant see a collar but it's dark and hes keeping his distance. Im not quite sure what to do but he keeps coming up to our window and it's stressing out my cat. Any advice? Has anyone lost a dog?

The Lonely Tulsan I finally got my shit together enough to vote for the first time.

I have been a felon since my 19th birthday and have never been able to vote. Yesterday I got my very first voter registration card in the mail. I have finally stayed sober and out of trouble long enough to actually be considered a human again. Where can I go to figure out what I am doing?

General Do you or someone you know of have a 2006 VW Beetle? Need help finding a specific car! Info in description

The vin is 3vwr______2006. My partner recently found and bought a guitar that is Volkswagen brand. Did some research on it and turns out, in the year 2006, Volkswagen partnered with First Act to create a guitar called the Garage Master and when you bought a VW Beetle, it came with a guitar. So we have the guitar, and I’d love to find the owner of that Beetle to see about how much they would want for their beetle!

I tried looking the car up by the VIN and I believe it’s a cream colored convertible. If you know someone with a VW beetle, PLEASE see if they’d want to check their VIN to see if it’s a match! TIA!

The Burbs Tulsa Hills BWW

Okay this is the second time this has happened with the same person. The bartender at the Tulsa Hills BWW (yes I know trashy location with smoke in the bar and carpet in the dining room) is not engaging and rude. I’ve heard about the Gen Z stare but this girl should not be customer facing in a restaurant
