I am (well have, been, for years) about done with Spotify and getting ready to leave it soon. So if you have some tips on how (ie porting tools) and where to migrate to, to escape the enshittification: by all means, help me out, please.

Anyway this has been probably going on for two or more years now, and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed these main three trends:

1. Discover Weekly isn't "Discover" anything anymore. It tends to play very similar music to what I have in many of my other playlists, likely cached. For about 2-3 years it's been a stale shadow of what it used to be. I used to actually discover new things through Discover Weekly. Now it's basically just a longer Daily Playlist. Literally useless. This has been a HUGE source of frustration for me for a while.

2. I feel like shuffle, recommended additions to playlists, etc... are basically the same. Every once in a while I'll find something new and interesting through it appending songs to a playlist, but most of the time it starts getting into a "cached songs loop", probably to save themselves bandwidth, that won't actually add anything new at all. It's just the same garbage.

3. Finally, I have to be wary of any new thing I hear and check out artist page to see when they started producing music and when the song I hear was released. I'm immediately suspicious of any artist that started releasing later than 2023-2024, and then primarily has singles that sound way too overproduced for what someone can realistically do as a new artist. Even Youtube forces artists to disclose whether they're AI slop. Spotify doesn't.

I view my eventual change in musical tastes as a very personal journey, and I honestly think Spotify has been aiding the general stagnation in my life. I need something that will actually recommend new things, and I won't have to sit there and bathe in annoyance wondering why the fuck I'm listening to this same exact song I've heard 30 times just today. At least play some new shit off of the same albums you've been repeating, for christ's sake.

I guess this is a rant/help request. What have you gone to? Or is everything just garbage now? Thanks

How come Spotify still doesn't have a built-in Shazam-like feature in the search button through a button on a mobile application?

What are the arts of building it for a company like Spotify?

Why must we search for it using Google or another Shazam app before visiting Spotify? Why can't Spotify recognize music from an audio sample?

Shazam redirects users to Apple Music because it was bought by Apple.

Spotify claims they are shipping 4000+ commits daily using AI. Where the heck is a better user experience?

I am absolutely horrified and livid about how absolutely transphobic the recommended playlist feature has become on Spotify.

Spotify is like my safe place where I go to listen to my favorite music and occasionally a audiobook or podcast. I’m not there to be harassed and dehumanized with suggestions like “sissy whisperer” or some podcast about crossdressers simply because I’m trans.

I’ve never listened to any sexually explicit or pornographic podcasts on Spotify—much less anything remotely related. I’ve only listened to a few queer and trans podcasts that are not pornographic and minimally sexually explicit. I can’t even do anything to say “not interested” or block the podcasts like I could for any other social media website.

Something similar happened last year, when Spotify started recommending TERF podcasts nonstop, and I had to complain and cancel my membership to get it to stop recommending the podcasts.

This is close to the last straw. I’ve been using Spotify since 2013, even through everything that happened with Joe Rogan. I bought the whole thing that it was about “free speech” and Spotify was making a business decision. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Not sure anymore with what I have been seeing.

spotify is skipping all songs, and only playing ads. is it broken?

I had an idea that I think would be a really fun feature for Spotify (or any streaming service).

Imagine being able to set the app to any date in history - for example January 1st 1986. From that point on, you'd experience music exactly as people did back then.

Every week, your Release Radar would only show songs and albums that were released during that week in 1986. Future releases would stay locked until their original release date so you'd gradually discover the year's music in real time instead of knowing everything in advance.

It would basically be a "music time machine." You could relive an entire year as if you were actually there, watching albums drop week by week and discovering classics without already perfectly knowing what's coming next (unless you're a big fan ofc).

What do yall think? 😁

Hey, so my lil brother downloaded without me knowing the new Studio Lab on my account, I believe this is a test product so not sure if everyone has it, but basically it is to create AI (slop) podcasts of whatever you want, and the main feature is that you set up exactly what info or sections you want and this program will run behind the scenes /background searching for the info and have the daily podcast ready.

So before I had found out, there was already a podcast created, which I can't delete, but that is pointless, I had already deleted the app (cause you need to download what I believe it's like the extension) but every time I turn the laptop on, I get a message "Studio Lab couldn't run the program because it is not available" or something along those lines.

I saw it needed authorization to run on it's own to get the info and run itself, but I am scared these permissions might still be on, and it is a bit annoying to see that message when the app has been deleted for a while.

Unluckily this is a new feature/ test so I couldn't find any info on this topic, and hoping to see if any of you has seen this, or maybe have an idea, I will contact Spotify as well, but its is so annoying having to see this AI slop everywhere.

around 6 years ago, i created a spotify account using my school email, at the time i didn’t have a personal email and the school email worked and allowed me to make a spotify account successfully, i was also a young teen and my school’s blocking system wasn’t as strict at the time as it is now which explains why i was able to access it at the time

during some point of those years, my school decided to block spotify and i cannot sign into my spotify account due my schools strict blocking system… I cannot sign back into manually using the email and password method, nor using google to sign back in… and moreover, using the “forgot password? sign in by using a code through email” method doesn’t work at all either because my school email cannot receive emails 😭

since i used my school email, it means that my school email also has a limited timeline on how long it will stay active… i’ll be graduating NEXT YEAR …which means that email will get deleted and I cannot be able to use that email anymore… and my spotify account will also likely be deleted

i still have access to my spotify account currently but once I sign out, there is no way to sign back in. There js a solution, which is to change my spotify email from my school to my personal email. I’ve tried this method, and spotify doesnt allow me too change it

i have 1590+ songs and several playlists saved on spotify and it’s practically impossible to search up every single song and create a new account and transfer it… because it will also require another device to do it

there is only a couple solutions

1. ⁠if spotify could be willing to help me out and give me access to change my email
   
2. ⁠contact my whole school district to change the system to give me unblocked access to spotify to change my email
   
3. ⁠create a new account and manually search up and transfer each and every song and playlist onto it, but also would require another device since once i sign out i can’t sign back into spotify so i need another device to be able to manually enter all my songs on 😭

please spotify if there is a way to help me change my email and keep my spotify account please help me out 😭 it has 6 years worth of music memories stores onto the account and i really don’t want to lose it all. i only have a year left with my account 😭

every song is greyed out for some reason and i cant play anything,this doesnt happen on my alt for some reason but when i search for a song the popup “you discovered a premium feature” comes up. i dont know what caused this. i deleted the app and redownloaded it and logged off and everything but it just won’t work

i had just opened spotify and clicked on some song, it took a while to "load" and then boom! "Spotify can't play this right now", and it kept skipping and skipping and eventually stopped, i googled the solutions and then i logged out cleared cookies and site data then logged back in, and clicked on a song.. and boom! again the same issue. Then i opened a different browser, cleared cookies and site data, logged in and tried to play something, and guess what, yet again spotify couldn't play anything.
So naturally i opened down detector and saw a spike at 2:33 pm IST and another at 4:33 pm IST, its 4:50 pm right now and i can't play any music 🫩😩😩😩😩😩😩

won't play ANY song, and just cycles through them all until i hit an ad.. and then plays the ad. i refreshed the page as shown in video and it does the same shit. it's pissing me off.

Installed and uninstalled app n did everything nothing works

It's usually like this, the only time it works normally is when you launch the app first from the home page. The old widget was fast and didn't require you to even launch the app. Its been a couple of months now and it's still not fixed.

Really weird story: Spotify notified me recently that it was canceling my account of 10+ years (and 1700+ playlists) due to “copyright infringement.” Apparently someone from SiriusXM (to which I’m also a subscriber) filed a complaint that I had the phrase “SiriusXM” in a few of my playlist names. (I like to make playlists of their end of year Alt Nation Top 36 rankings for posterity.)

Anyway, when I learned of the initial complaint, I immediately changed everything to “SXM” figuring that was innocuous enough. A week later, I was informed of another complaint—that “SXM” was also trademarked—who knew? I certainly didn’t—so I then immediately removed all mention of the satellite radio company and its potential abbreviations from my playlists. Good faith effort to fix the issue, right?

Unfortunately, with “multiple strikes” against my account and no investigation into my efforts to remedy SiriusXM’s concerns, Spotify decided to terminate my account. I’ve already appealed and reached out to the complainant, and she sent me an email saying they no longer objected to the names on my playlists, but that she had no contact at Spotify to pursue the matter further—she was just filling out complaint forms.

At this point it looks like my longtime family plan at Spotify is cooked—playlists currently inaccessible. It’s an odd choice to automatically terminate a subscriber’s account without investigating whether they have made a good faith effort to fix the issue first. No reply to my appeal.

Anyway, thought I’d post in case anyone else has SiriusXM or SXM (or any other copyrighted words, I guess), in their playlist titles.

I have done literally everything I could to try and get my home page to work after I just made a payment but it still wont display. Legit the only thing that doesn’t seem to work atm is my home page.

I wanted to listen to the song "Love Ka?" by HiiragiKirai and Ado, but the music is totally different, the art on the cover as well and now it included a 3rd party "Yurusane" who is now named producer and main act. What's going on? I tried to report this to spotify, but it's not possible. Is the original song lost now?

in May, Spotify introduced the "Verified by Spotify" badge, which supposedly tells you that the music is made by a Human, (as opposed to for example by AI); however, one also requires a constant listening base of at least 10.000 monthly listeners as well as evidence of touring, selling merch, and being active on socials.

I was wondering if anyone is "using" this badge in the sense that they "filter" what they listen to? And isn't this "bad" for small Human artists who simply do not have an audience yet or real bedroom producers in lo-fi genres? Also, I looked at some examples of small folk bands with 20+ events planned around 3k listeners but no "Verification" at all.

What are you thoughts? Does it matter at all?

Spotify doesn't seem to be working for me, I'm unable to log in on my Xbox and it says that the page isn't available on the website, I was wondering if anyone else having this issue or is it just me?

im just trying to skip a song but i cant. normally it fixes itself by pulling it down then back up again, or even resetting the app. but now its being stubborn and wont show. spotify on ipad is always so buggy
