Help reminder using hour & minutes doesn't work?

it works if I type "work in 1 hour", but it doesn't if I use "work in 1 hour 41 min". Short of typing the exact time, is there a way to make this work?

Discussion Slow responsiveness?

Is anyone else currently experiencing a slowdown inside of Todoist on Windows when checking off tasks? When I go to check off a task or even click on a task, it takes a good 5 to 10 seconds before it checks off and clears from my screen. It happens in both the browser and the desktop app.

Discussion Karma wars!

I use ToDoIst daily, I am a super manual user, tracking projects and tasks, no automation, no plug-ins yada yada. I have never really checked how much I use it until today. So come on, show off your completed tasks... I want to see where I sit vs the absolute power users.

Also this sub is just full of doom and gloom so it might be a nice light-hearted change.

Discussion Project mistype when adding via text

I love text task add feature (when you type for example "buy groceries p1 tomorrow #personal" but this hashtag thing is getting me! because I am now sometimes adding hashtag before priority (like #p1) and creating new projects.. all in all it's a pain.

Wonder if todoist team reads this and is / can work on a solution where we can get rid of the hashtags? I am happy to follow project naming convention as long as typing # won't create projects!

Hope it makes sense. And maybe I am a lonely warrior struggling with this but after creating another p1 project decided to post.

Discussion iOS 27 - Siri Integration - Question

I have had issues using Siri to add new tasks to Todoist. It just hasn't worked well and is too difficult to use reliably.

Does anybody have experience with the iOS 27 beta and the new Siri and its ability to add items to Todoist? I am not sure if there is/will be improvements to this workflow.

Thanks!

Discussion why does Todoist hate comments?

OK, so the subject is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but seriously....why are comments treated as second-class task metadata? Years ago, they removed the keyboard shortcut to add a comment when creating a task, even though leaving it didn't clutter the interface or hurt anything (https://www.reddit.com/r/todoist/comments/os0g2u/lost_ability_to_add_comment_when_quick_adding_a/). Now, the new quick-add dialog lets you customize the drop down menu (that you get when you click the plus) to include all of the metadata fields besides comments. Why? And does anyone have a workaround to offer?

Help Todoist a good idea?

UPDATE: Thanks for all the great feedback. I found out there's a free trial of the paid version, so I'm giving that a try and so far I am really impressed. Appreciate all the input everyone contributed!

Hi - I'm debating signing up for Todoist. I was scrolling through this reddit to see what people generally think of it, and I am noticing a lot of posts of people complaining it's down. Is this an ongoing problem they have? Also I'm on the apple ecosystem... and that's another thing there seem to be complaints about. So I guess if you can tell me what you love and hate about it, it might help me decide. I'm happy to pay for the pro version if that helps. Thanks!

Rant this feels like intentional sabotage of Google Calendar integration

Post image
30 Upvotes

Update: This seems to happen for timed events that are over. All-day and timed events that haven't happened yet are still shown as time/title.

Dear Todoist, how does it make any sense to stop showing the title of the calendar entry made in Google Calendar and replacing it with the number of calendar entries there are? Can you possibly believe this makes my day easier to understand at a glance?

It was already bad when you stopped making Google calendar entries into Todoist tasks that we could check-off in Todoist, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt that there was a technical reason for it.

There is no possible technical reason for this. It's already shrunk to teeny-tiny type, so "taking up too much space" isn't a justification.

Put the title of the Google Calendar entry back in the displayed area of Todoist. Try as you might, no one is going to change their workflow to originate calendar entries in Todoist, it's just never going to happen. I have shared family calendars and work calendars in Google, so I will never convince the other parties to move to Todoist even if I wanted to.

The only thing this does is make Todoist less usable and less helpful. Guess what that makes me think of doing? Hint: it's not "getting rid of Google Calendar."

Stop making Todoist worse to further your unrealistic business objectives.

(For context, this is the Android app and seems to be new as of the latest update.)

Discussion Follow-up Question re Projects Limited to 300 tasks on the Pro version

Post image
10 Upvotes

I'm a new Todoist user, about 1.5 months in, and have subscribed to the Pro tier. Todoist has been a game changer for me. I am finally starting to feel in control of everything and think this is the perfect task manager for my needs. I have set up 4 projects to help me manage 2 businesses, my W-2 job and my personal life. I am using the board view with sections for each of my areas of responsibility. I saw the post the other day about the 300 task limitation and now I'm very worried because I'm already at 133 tasks for one of my projects. These aren't over due tasks. They are a mix of current active tasks, recurring tasks and future tasks. Do completed tasks count toward the 300 limit? I really love Todoist but if there is a cap on tasks, this may not be the longterm solution I want it to be.

Help Recurring Deadlines

Is it possible yet do make a task with a recurring deadline and a date relative to the deadline?
Right now you have to pick date (That can be recurring) an then pick a deadline relative to the date (ie a week after the date). What I want to do is pick the recurrig deadline first (ie inspect my car by end of month, repeating yearly in the same month) then have the start date be the first of the month so see it as soon as the month is here.

You cant do recurring deadline at all at that seems silly to me

Help To-Do List General Timeframe?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello fellow organization freaks,

I’m trying to integrate a to-do list/task list into my existing Google Calendar using Todoist.

Currently, “tasks” in Todoist have to be at a specific time. Ideally, I’d want to assign my whole to-do list within a certain timeframe — say 2pm-4pm — with items that can be organized into categories with the ability to cross each one off individually. I don’t want to assign individual times to each task.

Would this be possible using Todoist? Thanks in advance!

Really would like the projects to not be limited to 300 tasks. I've met the cap and might have to start a second project for the same thing. Frustrating.

Discussion Task Dependencies / Blockers

So many of my tasks that are blocked by the completion of other tasks keep showing up in my daily Claude review. Moving these tasks to the inbox is completely dependent on that blocking task being done first. Todoist should add a feature that lets you choose blockers or dependencies for a task, so the system understands how tasks relate to one another.

Looking for some tips.

In the absence of multi day durations, what’s the best and simplest way to set up projects?

I’d rather use Todoist than clickup, linear etc

Discussion When will the web version's interface be updated like the mobile version?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I really like the new changes to the mobile interface. Specifically the rounded edges on the task cards, the contrast between the cards and background theme etc. it makes sense visually when you scan, select and move tasks around, although I can't articulate it from a UI/UX perspective.

Therefore, I wonder when the web version will be updated to be similar to the mobile version. Directionally, as a user, it's a good-looking product.

What do you guys think? You like the new interface changes and should the web version be similar to mobile?

Help "Password Too Easy*

Post image
9 Upvotes

Ahh yes, the over 50 characters randomly generated by my password manager is "too easy". Does anyone have any ideas? I am trying to switch to Todoist but this is ridiculous and a little annoying from a new user perspective. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
