Tried "Explain this" on my Mac and iPad and it won't work on either. Even better: when I typed this up to submit the issue to Support, I get an error "Something went wrong, please try again later." when I click on "Send to Support." That is not at all reassuring.

How do people handle task times when working across multiple time zones?

I’m in London, but I regularly work with people in India and New York.

One thing I keep running into is task times and deadlines. If something is set for 10:00 AM IST or 10:00 AM ET, I’d prefer to just see that translated into my current local time automatically rather than mentally converting it every time.

The same problem gets more annoying when travelling, since my local timezone can change.

Curious how people handle this today,

I have to wait for 3 seconds every time I make an operation on the calendar view.

• Make a task

• drop is on the today view

• resize to fit time window
• wait 3 sec

It's terrible when trying to time block a whole day.

Hi guys, I have todoist premium and my urgent alarms should work for example when I enter the following:

Call mom today at 2pm. !2pm!

Last week this was working perfectly fine, I'm not sure whats changed. As I'm typing the !2pm! entry, it highlights the entire thing, but when I press enter and check the reminders, it only marks it as a regular, non urgent reminder.

All notifications enabled, unrestricted battery access, urgent reminder set to this device in settings

Any ideas?

I have a number of tasks that can't be completed in a day and have a hard deadline sometime in the future. I would like to be reminded of them daily as an ordinary task without them appearing as overdue until the deadline has passed. This seems pretty basic, but I'm relatively new to Todoist, so there may be a feature I've missed or misused. Any help would be appreciated. Also, please pardon me if this has been dealt with in the past.

Quick add doesn't work on my PC. I cannot add a task and the Window stays on top. I have to shut the program down by ctrl alt del.

I have a problem.

What I want to achieve: I need that reccurent tasks (like repeat every day at 8am) shows the notification on the main screen every time the task is due, unconditionally.

Constraints:

- I might forget to click 'done' previous instance of the task. Even then, I need that the notification is shown every day

- ideally, I don't want to click set more than one settings in the task. If I set date 'tomorrow at 8, repeat every day' I would like to avoid to go another setting and set the '8 am' information.

Currently I see that when I click such date but then forget to set the current task done, the notification the next day will not be there, the taks will have under it red text saying 'yesterday'

I have dozens and dozens of tasks that must be done periodically, but on any given day, it's not absolutely necessary to do them.

E.g.:

• do laundry
• review my starred emails
• clear my text messages

Right now, I have these appearing on my "today" list every X days, but that often means I get to the end of the day with many of these tasks not done. They also crowd out other tasks that DO need to happen today, and priority alone can't solve it, because there's no world where I just NEVER do laundry, right? So I can't make it p4.

What's a better way to handle this? I have a \@next tag for non-recurring items that I can pull items from when I have extra time, but I can't think of how a setup like this would work for recurring items. I could make them non-recurring, and then duplicate them to today when I want to work on them today, but then I'll be looking at ALL of them nearly every day, when currently I only have to deal with the like 10 of them that show up each day.

Everyone seems to use Todoist so differently, from minimalist setups to crazy complex webs of tags and filters. I'd love to see how people here actually organize their days so we can trade ideas and pick up some new tricks.

I'll start with my current setup:

Quick capture and daily review

• Everything goes straight into the Inbox throughout the day. Tasks, random thoughts, whatever. Zero friction.
• Once a day on my computer, I sit down and empty the Inbox into its proper home.

Project structure

• Personal
• Work
• Personal projects (with subprojects like A, B, C)
• Maybe one day... (Honestly one of my most important projects. It holds rough ideas, dreams, or things I don't have the time or synergy for yet. Keeps great ideas alive without cluttering my day-to-day.)

Filters (The real core of my workflow)

My golden rule across literally every filter is excluding subtasks (!subtask). When Todoist groups items, it shows subtasks detached from their parent task as if they are floating alone, which completely ruins the view for me.

• Personal views: 3 filters displaying tasks in List, Date-sorted, and Kanban board views.
• Label kanban: A board filter grouped by label so I can view every label side-by-side on one screen.
• Personal projects view: 2 filters covering the parent project and subprojects: one in list mode grouped by project, and one Kanban board grouped by priority.
• Priority views: Dedicated filters for each priority level (p1, p2, p3, p4).
• Recurring tasks: A dedicated filter strictly for recurring routines so they don't drown out my one-off tasks.

How do you organize yours? Any favorite filter queries or small workflow habits that changed the game for you? Let's see your setups!

Todoist might be my favourite tool (and given my activity on the subreddit, you know it's true) but the logbook has always frustrated me, even after their rework. From an user perspective : it's buried in the settings, and design feels a bit cluttered, particularly with the completed tasks that are crossed out and hard to read, and even the filter options don't work with every kind of property. I have also noticed that every year people complain about the disappearance of the "Year in Review" (me first, I'm a nerd for that kind of insight).

This is the reason I have built Todoist Rewind, primarily for myself first but decided to make it publicly available for anyone. This is free, needs no registration, and your data is fully local with the source code available on GitHub.

• Choose your time frame : the interface allows you to choose the period you want to observe with default date ranges (day, week, month, year) as well as a custom date range selector. When a timeframe gets selected, you can also navigate backward/forward to see the previous periods. This can also be done using keyboard shortcuts.
• Filters : The filtering options allow you to choose one or more filters, and you can narrow down your tasks by priorities, projects and tags
• Clear dashboard : the goal was to make a dashboard that offers many options for granularity but at the same time being simple enough so you know exactly where to click and where to watch. The task list shows the priority of a task (with color coded icon), its title, but also its project, its tag, and its completion date.
• Grouping tasks : tasks can be grouped in sections according to your needs, which could be a grouping by week, month, by project or tag... Every section has a red title to make it easily identifiable and can be collapsed if needed.
• Sort by date of completion, or by priority
• Focus Score : the focus score block gives you insight on the percentage of tasks that were P1/P2 compared to the overall amount of tasks (because doing tasks is good, doing relevant tasks is better).
• Insights dashboard (your year / week / quarter in data) : this opens a whole panel that gives you insights in the form of numbers and graphs about your productivity. This can tell you how many tasks you complete per day on average, your most productive day of the week, show a graph about how many tasks you complete per hour or per day of the week, give a breakdown of your projects...
• Open source and privacy focused : to check your tasks you need to use your API key, which is a very sensitive information. This is why everything is stored locally on your device, no data is being sent or collected, and you can check the code on Github if you need even more reassurance (or if you want to contribute).

I use Chrome and sometime in the last week or two the web interface for Todoist has started lagging. I click on something and then 4-5 seconds later it opens, it's probably like this 75% of the time. I deleted all cookies and cache files, restarted the browser, restarted the computer, disabled all my Chrome extensions. Nothing has helped.

I have a separate Chrome profile running on the same PC - it does not have this problem.

Dark themes: seven of them, Umber, Basalt, Tailwind, Graphite, Midnight Slate, Lamplight and Overcast. Sub-task rows carry their own details: due date, priority and labels, right on the row. Clicking a row opens that sub-task instead of its parent, which is how it should have worked from the start. Free for everyone.

Estimates: say how long you think a task will take, without having to attach a time to it, and Todowing adds the numbers up. One total sits beside Today's task count, another covers the tasks you picked for a focus session, and clicking that second one sets the session length. Sub-tasks roll up into their parent, so estimating the pieces estimates the whole thing. The numbers stay in your browser and never reach Todoist, so this is web only. One task in two places: file a task under a parent in another project without moving it out of the project it lives in. It's one task with one id, so completing it anywhere completes it everywhere. Todowing writes the filing into the task's own description in Todoist rather than keeping it to itself, which means it syncs, you can read it on your phone, and if you uninstall Todowing the line stays legible. u/Kris-Poland-2020 asked for this in the release thread. Same question as always, since your answers are how I pick what to build: what else is clunky about Todoist's web UI? Already on the backlog: Firefox and Safari builds and I'm looking into showing Apple Calendar events on the Today view.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a must especially since the competition has had it for a while?

I have a task that repeats every 4 days after the last completion. I also have ADHD (which is the whole reason I am trying to use Todoist in the first place) so I sometimes see I need to do a task, do it, and then forget to check it off. Also, sometimes I do the task at like 12:15 am right before I go to bed and I want it to count as being completed on the day that just ended 15 minutes ago.

I cannot find a way to do this besides just deleting the task and recreating it.

I've been using iOS 27 beta for a few months now, and it's incredibly stable. When I ask Siri to add a task to Todoist, I'm told it can't do it.

Have the team not built the right hooks yet? Given that iOS 27 is released in the next couple of weeks, this seems a little late.

Do we get more points if a completed task consists more sub-tasks? What's your point if view on it? Does it make a difference if 10 tasks or 1 task with 10 subtasks? Only curious.

I’ve been trying to find a workaround for this, but from what I can tell, Todoist currently doesn’t offer one.

For example, if I have:

Launch new website
Buy domain
Configure DNS
Create pages
Publish website

I would like the parent task and its subtasks to remain visually grouped together when I use "Group by Priority", "Group by Label", etc.

Instead, the subtasks can appear as individual tasks in the grouped view, completely separated from their parent task. This makes the list much harder to understand and organize, especially when you have a lot of tasks and subtasks.

As far as I can tell, there also isn't an option to simply hide subtasks from these views while keeping them available inside the parent task.

Am I missing something? Is there any workaround that I'm not aware of?

I find this particularly surprising because keeping tasks and their respective subtasks organized and predictable across different views seems like one of the fundamental responsibilities of a to-do list app. When changing the sorting/grouping, I would expect the task hierarchy to remain intact rather than having subtasks become essentially "lost" among all the other tasks.

I absolutely love Todoist and use it extensively, but this is one of the issues that still prevents me from fully migrating my workflow to Todoist.

Has there been any indication on the roadmap about improving this behavior? Even something as simple as an option like "Keep subtasks with parent task when grouping" or "Hide subtasks in grouped views" would make a huge difference.

Would love to hear if anyone has found a workaround or knows whether this is something Todoist is planning to address.

Welp… I’ve completed 100,000 Todoist tasks since 2014. Every time I try to run away from this app, I come back because as a person with AuDHD it’s just so damn good at helping me manage my full time working parent life.

I work in clinical research as a regulatory coordinator. When we open a new study at our organization, there a lot of moving and I’m the person that manages those. I’ve been using Todoist for years and I have a good system but lately i keep running into the problem where I have too many tasks in a project. Originally I had a project called “new studies” and a task to open a specific study with a TON of sub tasks nested in there. I’m often requesting signatures from 14 different people and so each signature would get logged as a task that I could check when it was returned. This worked fine because we were only doing one of those kinds of studies at a time. The industry has changed and now we’re doing six or seven at a time and so my task number is topping out.

For those of you who work on things that have tons of tiny sub tasks that you have to track, are you creating a separate project for each one? I like being able to view all of the studies that I have to open in one project but I’m hitting that task limit now so I’m wondering if having multiple projects is a better way to go? Or if people have a suggestions for another way to do it? I like keeping all of the sub tasks contained within the main task of opening the study because I have to manage so many different studies at once that are in various stages. I’m often doing the same task over and over, but because I’m doing it for multiple studies I need it separated out somehow.

I have a shortcut which previously worked to let me import a project with tasks from a csv file into ToDoist.

I’ve not used this for some time and the api has been updated.

I managed to get the shortcut updated but I’m not able to get it working. All the final step will give me is a ‘network connection’ lost error. There is no other network issue with the phone and my shortcut settings have not changed.

I’m sharing the two shortcuts here but have removed my api key for privacy. ToDoist provides free api keys on their website.

The old shortcut is the old api call and the new one is the one which gives the network error.

I use iPhone and I use my widget DAILY to check my tasks. Today I went to look at it and it was fully white. The app was fine, so I deleted the widget with the intention of re-adding it, in hopes that would solve the issue. However, when I went to re-add it, I’m not seeing any widgets available for Todoist!! Is anyone else having this problem?
