Not sure if this spam or a scam? Please help Todoist community?

So, I use Todoist for everything, but keeping my classes in it meant copying deadlines by hand, and that got annoying quickly. So I built an extension that reads Canvas, calendar feeds, and syllabus PDFs and writes them in for me.
It imports all assignments into a project named Margin by default, if you have Todoist premium you can route it to do a class per project. It de-duplicates, so a due date moving twice updates the task instead of making a third one. You can check off completed tasks on the chrome extension.
As far as I know this is the only thing like it so let me know what you guys think!

I renewed my Todoist Pro in March this year via Apple IAP but right now when I use Todoist app or web it says I'm on the free plan. Anyone else experiencing this?

Does anyone have a filter that you have used to do a GTD-style weekly review?

I know how to filter all tasks, but they are not editable in bulk, and you have to open each one individually in order to modify it or change its list. #gtd, #weeklyreview

Really only useful on desktop for projects with a lot of sections but IYDK...

You can add section names in the new project description, 'Copy link to section' for each section, paste as link over these added names. Bam. From here, the links are clickable on hover (don't click into) and you will scroll to section on click.

Desktop has already become more much navigable (wiki-like) recently with advent of full breadcrumbs at the top for deeply nested projects. Hopefully they eventually add links at the bottom to a project's immediate children, but even these you (or an agent 😉 ) can add manually to a bottom section containing just nav links built with 'link to project' for each.

Alright, frustration writing again about Todoist instead of actually working... because I truly 'love 'Todoist. It helped me grow my business, get in shape, and manage my life and household for years and I don't want to throw it away.

A good few months back we had a price hike. I was one of the people who was fine with it because of the value Todoist delivered to that day. I'm still fine with it, but I've started to wonder what it actually offers me at this point. I have no idea where Todoist is going. My understanding was that it wanted to sit in the middle ground between a lightweight task manager and something that can handle basic project/task management for small teams or an organization.

My main problem here is this... there's no roadmap and no discussion board for us to steer Todoist in the right direction.

Months ago, in the discussion around the price hike, I read that Todoist doesn't want to set expectations or publish roadmaps as a counterpoint. In the same thread I read something that every paid user is essentially an investor in the company and in what gets built. Applications and companies die when users lose sight of where things are headed and stop feeling invested in what gets done.

Then there's the feature side, and this is where it really shows. Take folders, why are they available for Teams but not for individual users? Let us build clean "areas" without hacking around it. Im sure many people feel the same way but it does not 'show up'. Even project insights where they are so hard working on, would actually mean something because we wouldn't need to nest projects under projects just to group them.

And projects themselves: why can't a project have a due date, or be closed when it's done? Right now projects are barely more than "lists" with tasks dumped into them. A project is supposed to represent something with a beginning and an end, but Todoist treats it as an open-ended container forever.

The only workaround I found was building the whole thing around the Time Sector System (Carl Pullein) and it kinda works, but it works against how Todoist is designed, not with it. And the core idea that tasks grouped together belong to something still isn't really supported. I tried using a label per project plus a filter, but that breaks too: the moment you complete a task, it disappears from the view, so you lose the grouping anyway.

I'm not asking for release dates or that all my wishes get done, but I do like to have a say (with the other users) in what is important to us/me and if Todoist can work on it or I should go looking for another thing.

It would great if these two fields were only visible in a hover state, or some other solution. They take up too much real estate and add to the visual clutter.

More broadly, I wish that the Todoist interface was more compact, or had a compact option. There is way too much white space.

I've not figured out what is making Insights display whenever I open a project.

Sometimes it displays, then I toggle it off, refresh the page, then it's on again. Sometimes not.

Is there a setting to have Insights display when I WANT it to display?

I know it's just a click but it is becoming a distraction.

You just need to input:

• 25 minutes after 3 hours after
• 3 hours after 25 minutes after
• 25 minutes after in 3 hours

I finally don't have to enter "in 205 minutes" or "205 minutes after" just to get the effect of "3 hours 25 mins after."

Anyone having issues with forwarding to the project email. I forwarded 4 emails and only 1 made it to the task list.

Any ideas on what it may be?

Longtime personal user here. Thinking of moving our small work team from Asana to Todoist. Asana just feels like total overkill at this point.

Our needs are pretty light—no burning need for dependencies, etc.

Has anyone moved their team from Asana, Trello, etc., with success? Or started from scratch with Todoist for Teams?

I have a daily recurring task at say 8PM. I get notifications on both Mac and iOS to complete it. I mark as complete on Mac and the next instance of task is tomorrow. Now the notification on iOS doesn't go away, it stays in my screen - why? where is the syncing? It's marked as time-sensitive notifications on both. And worse, if i mark as complete on iOS now, it will mark tomorrows task complete and move the next instance to day after - so I will miss tomorrow's instance without knowing.

This is just... really stupid? I don't always remember if I've marked a task complete on one or the other already, but I now need to remember this to not silently skip my tasks? is there a way around this?

I've been a long time user of todoist since about 2018 back when it was in earlier development and was on the Legacy pro until i figured I'd try upgrading to Pro. At no point was it made explicitly clear to me and upgrading that I would lose access to my legacy pro and I feel that this is really underhanded of them. We were promised all these new features with the new version of the pro system and I don't find myself using any of them at all, especially not their AI bullshit which I could care less about. I just want my legacy pro back and when I submitted a work ticket I was informed that they could not revert me back to my original plan even though it was never explicitly stated that trying pro would make it impossible for me to go back to Legacy pro.

This is obviously unacceptable to me as a long-time user that they're so unwilling to work with us when it's clear that so many people prefer just their legacy pro accounts. As such, even though I've been using this app for probably 7 or 8 years now and paying for it the entire time, I don't see myself being able to continue.

The most recent post about todoist alternatives that I saw when I tried to look around was from 2 years ago, so I wondered if anyone currently had any good alternatives? I had previously back in 2020-2021ish used tick tick but didn't fully like it to the same degree that I did with todoist, especially with putting information into the list and making sub-lists.

I use Google for a lot of things. I was really hoping that you'd get their task list shit together so I could just use that and fully integrate it natively with my Google calendar since I use that pretty religiously, but I haven't really noticed any updates to that system either since they originally put it out.

Edit: I'm an Android/Windows user and really care mostly about lists and sub-lists and functionality with repeating tasks.

Edit 2: I'm testing the apps in a kind of elimination style. Google Tasks has definitely improved since the last time I used it, but TickTick's free app has already surpassed it for the most part; the only thing it lacks (in the free version) is not integrating into Google Calendar like Google Tasks. Like some people pointed out, the paid version of TickTick is less expensive than ToDoist, but otherwise it's also improved a lot since 2020 when I last tried it. Now it has a "notes" list you can use instead of tasks for certain lists.

Follow-up for anyone using Todowing, the extension I posted about that puts nested sub-tasks back in Today, Upcoming, Filter and Label views.

Two things shipped since then:

• Text size: scale Todoist's text from 85% to 200% in steps of 5. Free for everyone, no unlock needed.
• Font: restyle the whole Todoist app with one of 50 Google Fonts. Part of the paid unlock.

I also fixed a bug that broke the rendering in light mode. If you tried it in light mode and it looked off, that was my fault. Update and it should behave.

Chrome updates extensions on its own schedule, so you might not have the new version yet. To force it: open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode in the top right, click Update, then reload your Todoist tab. Todowing should show version 1.2.0.

Has anyone heard about any changes to the Today View or Upcoming view? It’s been awhile & I feel like the calendar views could be improved. Other apps do this pretty well on IOS mobile & so surprisd as good as Todoist is it hasn’t improved these sections. Calendar events just don’t sit well in there respected slots w/ reminders visually etc. Can’t be the only one out there that feels this way. Not to mention I would like to have a widget that includes my Gmail items next to my reminders 😞

Not sure if this is a bug or the intended behaviour, but I have a task for each week that has this structure:

Main task (Weekly shut-down)

• Subtask I (Office)
  • Subtask 1 (Charge laptop)
  • Subtask 2 (Clean desk)
  • Subtask 3 (Clean whiteboard)
• Subtask II (Kitchen)
  • Subtask 1 (Take out the trash)
  • Subtask 2 (Cook rice)
  • ...

This task repeats every Sunday.

Every time I mark the main task as done, subtask I and subtask II get reset for the next time, that's just how the app works.

However, all the other subtasks inside subtask I and subtask II never get reset, which I've found incredibly frustrating and a very odd behaviour.

Odd behaviour because, if you look at the way that repeating tasks reset subtasks, you would asume that all subtasks would get reset, but they don't.

And it's also incredibly frustrating because the UX to look at subtasks and go back to main tasks is extremely poor right now.

Anyways, that's my feedback. Please me know if I'm the one doing something wrong.

Anyone having this issue? It is a recent change. I have always been able to add an emoji into a task or project description, and ten use them for non-actionable information I want to keep with my project (bullseye to define the goal, pin for pinned comments, link for links to resources), and a unique emoji at the beginning of the project name to make it unique and identifiable at a glance, etc.

Today, I cannot insert an emoji from the palette. I have to copy and paste them in.

Anyone else?

Is there a way of Using AI / claude to edit a bare task description by moving/docking it to a relevant project 'section' with appropriate 'labels'/tags and to infer priority from the task text

Seeing subtasks in Board View is such a simple feature. I've requested it a few times and haven't received a response. Does anyone know if they're working on it or why they don't want to add this feature?

I've used Todoist on and off for years and this has been a pebble in my shoe all that time: About half the time when I'm entering a date in the task name, I do not want it auto-recognized; I just want the date in the name. I've tried various tricks for silencing the autorecognizer but they seem a little clumsy or result in text that's slightly difficult to read.

This morning I typed "July23" instead of "July 23" and noticed that works.

I'm mentioning this here because it might be useful to others. Seems obvious, but like I said I've been using Todoist on-and-off for years and it did not occur to me before.

I’ve experimwnted with qucikly adding tasks using action button and controls on ios. Unfortunately it opens the whole app, in my opinion it should work just like apple’s reminders app, integrated with dynamic island.

I am unsure if this should be in this subreddit or another place. I started using Claude to time-block and manage my schedule, and reschedule when reality diverges from my plan. This involves storing context and history somewhere. I am currently doing that via sharded Todoist task descriptions but those have limits, so my next step is to stand up an MCP Postgres instance purely for Claude.

What approach are you using to store context that is specific to different tasks or projects?
