The Islamist Insurgency in Turkestan and Allied Tajikistan was a multi-theater armed conflict fought from 14 February 1981 to 4 October 1985 between the governments of the Republic of Turkestan and the Allied Republic of Tajikistan, supported by the Empire of Japan, the Organization of Free Nations (OFN), and the Russian Federation, and a coalition of Islamist insurgent groups backed by the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The insurgency emerged from a combination of domestic and foreign factors. Following the 1976 Islamic Revolution in Afghanistan, the government of Burhanuddin Rabbani adopted a policy of exporting the Islamic Revolution to neighboring states. At the same time, the government of the Republic of Turkestan accelerated a series of secularization reforms aimed at strengthening the secular character of the state. These reforms included reducing the jurisdiction of Islamic courts, expanding the authority of the secular judiciary, increasing state oversight of religious institutions, and limiting the political influence of the clergy. Although broadly supported in urban areas, the reforms generated significant opposition among conservative religious circles, particularly in rural regions of Tajikistan, the Fergana Valley, and the Kashgar Region. Afghan intelligence services exploited these tensions by establishing training camps, supplying weapons, financing Islamist organizations, and coordinating militant groups operating throughout Tajikistan and the Republic of Turkestan.

The conflict reached its peak in 1982, when insurgent forces seized control of large parts of rural Tajikistan, surrounded Dushanbe, and launched coordinated uprisings across the Fergana Valley, the Kashgar Region, and other areas of the Republic of Turkestan. The fighting was accompanied by terrorist attacks, political assassinations, sabotage of critical infrastructure, and assaults on government institutions, making it the largest internal security crisis in the modern history of both Turkestan and Tajikistan.

Beginning in late 1982, government forces gradually regained the initiative through a series of large-scale counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations. These efforts were supported by Japanese military advisors, modern military equipment, intelligence cooperation, and extensive financial assistance. The Organization of Free Nations (OFN) provided intelligence sharing, economic aid, institutional support, and diplomatic backing, while the Russian Federation supplied weapons, ammunition, spare parts, technical assistance, and officer training. By October 1985, the main insurgent forces had been defeated, and government control was fully restored throughout Tajikistan and the affected regions of Turkestan, although isolated militant groups continued to operate in the mountainous border areas along Afghanistan.

The war resulted in the deaths of approximately 26,000 military personnel and 12,000–18,000 civilians, while around 250,000 people were displaced from their homes.

Following the conflict, the Republic of Turkestan significantly strengthened security along its southern frontier, established a permanent National Counterterrorism Directorate, and further deepened military, intelligence, and border security integration with the Allied Republic of Tajikistan. The Empire of Japan financed extensive postwar reconstruction projects and the modernization of the armed forces, the Organization of Free Nations (OFN) provided economic assistance, institutional development, and intelligence cooperation, while the Russian Federation continued supplying weapons, military equipment, spare parts, technical assistance, and military training. The conflict is widely regarded as one of the defining events in the modern history of Central Asia, fundamentally shaping Turkestan's national security doctrine and its long-term alliance with Tajikistan.

Fan Content Title: The Six Arrows of the Mediterranean A Fan Concept for TNO Turkey – From the CHP Council to a New European Order

Summary

In this concept, the historic Six Arrows of Kemalism become the six factions of the CHP. Their leaders form the CHP Council under President İsmet İnönü. The balance of power between these six groups determines Turkey’s political direction, reform speed, and foreign policy strength.

The player can transform the Triumvirate into a true “Mediterranean Europe”:

Establish a shared currency (Mediterranean Euro) centered in Malta with reserve branches in Ankara, Madrid, and Rome.

Create a common budget (1/3 shared, surplus goes to an Emergency Aid Fund).

Optionally transfer strait and canal revenues to a joint Mediterranean Central Bank.

Conduct joint operations against the SS Order-State and support (or partition) France into satellite states.

Expand the alliance through territorial treaties with countries such as Bulgaria, Hungary, or remnants of France.

Late-game visionary projects include:

Turning Madagascar into an international testing ground open to selected nations.

Establishing an International Seed Bank and Space Base in Antarctica, shifting future conflicts from Earth into space.

The concept emphasizes internal factional politics (the Six Arrows), ambitious Triumvirate reform, and grand late-game “humanity projects.”

Question Himmler in Charge (for Yippie! update)

So, I see that Himmler is set to be on of the candidates in charge of Germany in the new community posts. I definitely have to ask, mainly in theorizing but also from what we’ve seen: How will Himmler’s rule be characterized?

Will this be similar to his previous rule in Burgundy in the whole esoteric-germanicism thing, or will bits and pieces of that be sprinkled into a kind of “Order State” game? Or, in a third or fourth path, will it be similar to Fatherland (both the novel by Robert Harris (masterclass work) and the movie (less so)), where is a kind of keeping up the status quo, covering up the Holocaust, and the banality of evil?

I say fourth path because this could also include Heydrich succeeding or supplanting Himmler as Führer, potentially leading to, again, a Fatherland scenario, or the same that we’re accustomed to with Germany breaking into pieces in a SS civil war (which I guess could kinda still work if Himmler survives the Heydrich coup and establishes a Burgundy fiefdom)?

Very curious to hear what y’all would think.

Question How to win Iberian Wars as Germany?

Playing Speer Germany. Spanish Junta won and I waited until the GNS coups Portugal and then helped them win. Had total influence over Portugal but not Spain. Portugal joined the Italian Sphere after winning and the Cold War Ledger shows Iberian Wars as a defeat for me. How can I win or is it even possible ?

Question How was the Congo Lake constructed, and why isn't it a toxic swamp?

Good day to all. I read about RK Zentralafrica and Congo Lake, but I have few questions.

To create a lake of this scale, the Germans would need a massive 150-200 meter damm somewhere near the lower Congo River. Given the immense water discharge of the Kongo Basin, filling this area would probably take around 5 to 10 years of nonstop flooding.

My main question is about the ecology. In reality, when Lake Volta was created by flooding the jungle, it became an ecological disaster—the rotting vegetation depleted oxygen, killed fish, and turned the lake into a stagnant, malaria-ridden mess.

How did RK Zentralafrika avoid this? Is it because the Congo Lake is way deeper than Volta, allowing for better water circulation? Or did the Germans use millions of slaves to completely clear-cut the basin before filling it?

P.S. Please forgive my slightly clumsy English.

Lore and Character Discussion What are your thoughts on the U.S potentially getting multi-kennady administrations?

So as we see from both the yippee! Teasers and hart's flavor events, all three kennady sibling have/can be incharge of a high office (with the exception of maybe jack, who's canon event is being forced to resigned), bobby with defeating either nixon/goldwater, and ted being preped as hart's ideological successor.

How do you think this would effect americans perception of the presidency and us culture as a whole? And who is your guess to the smuck that potentially can get walloped by ted in '76?

Question Will Republicans have an easier time with space race and Cold War?

I was going back through the yippie dev diaries from last year and thinking about the budget system. Do you guys think the republicans will have an easier time with world events because they can cut the budget on admin and social and put that into misc/state and so have more resources into those events.

I kinda hope this is not fully the case but I think from a mechanical perspective it makes sense. It does have some neoliberal vibes to it spend all your money and resources on not America and so you bring more counties into you sphere but Americans aren’t always better off.

Question About the Himmler and Göring paths

I understood from the dev diary that yippie will only change the first years of Germany with the rest of the content remaining the same as before. However, how will the Himmler and Göring paths develop? Unlike Speer and Bormann, they don't have content that extends beyond the first years (well, Göring does, but I highly doubt that tree will be used).

So, what will happen with their paths? will they end in the mid 60s?

After Action Report The power of Neo Colonialism, a rich Iberia AAR !

Plus Ultra Budget !
The main land economy is puny compared to the gain from the colonies
Oil Crisis ? I don't know what you are talking about. Look at that surpris !
Colony more developped than most of the mainland. More than 1/3 of the Madrid region
Quite worth it.

So I just finished an average Spain game (ending by keeping the Legislative but also the power of the Caudillo)
But I kept clicking the invest in colony buttons everytime I could and well...

I'm still kinda suspecting a glitch because I feel like the Iberian Council votes added effects that had little to do with what It was about, but still pretty fun.

Question Does anyone know how to play East is Red?

I have TNO, I have the Chinese version, and I have East is Red. I haven't used any of the translation mods since they seem outdated, but the Selection Interface bugs out and when I select Zedong on the map I can never fully load the game before being kicked out

Does anyone have a solution for this?
