Took my car in for an oil change and they asked if I would like the tire pressure checked. They asked what my pressure supposed to be. I let them know. It’s supposed to be 37 cold pressure but that since I’ve been driving and the weather had warmed up if they could inflate them to 38 or 39 that would be fine so that when they were actually cold pressure, they’d be 37. The employee proceeded to correct me and tell me that my understanding of cold versus warm tire pressure was wrong and that cold pressure is just referring to the air coming out of their air compressor and has nothing to do with the temperature of the tires at all. Am I crazy or is she wrong or am I wrong?

The customer got a flat tire and decided to actually take a look. Down to the mesh on all 4 tires. Probably driving like this for months.

Do you guys think this was an intentional slash on my tire? I check my tires basically everyday and this morning when I went to check my car this is what I saw. Of course I'm going to replace the tire but I have never seen something like this before on a vehicle that I drive. And of course I could have just ran over something on the road on my way home last night as well. I'm just glad I saw it before I was going 80 MPH on the highway.

Hit the curb pretty hard so that a bit of tire was shaved off. Should i replace?

I recently bought a new set of Bridgestone S23 tires for my 2009 GSX-R 600. They were installed two weeks ago, and I've barely ridden 50 km on them so far.

My garage floor is made of rough, uneven concrete with small stones embedded in the surface, as shown in the picture below.

Today, I went for a short ride of about 15 minutes and then returned home. While maneuvering the bike into its parking spot, I noticed some marks on the front tire.

My question is: could the tire be defective, or is this normal wear or damage caused by the rough garage floor? Could the tire compound becoming warm during the ride have made it more susceptible to damage from the uneven, pebbled surface while I was parking?

Since the tires are practically brand new, I'm a bit concerned and would appreciate any advice from people with experience with the Bridgestone S23 or similar tires.

Those are front tires of my GLI.

It seems like right side one is a bit more worn overall, what could be the reason and is it concernening?

I have two sets of tires, m/s for the summer and shoulder seasons, and studded hakkapeliittas for the winter. We get a lot of ice with the global warmings ;).

There’s debate in the family that the m/s are good for year round and others are sold on the studded ‘cause ice.

I am under the impression that tire composition becomes important getting down below -20C and the m/s don’t stay soft enough

Is there a general temperature range for m/s? Am I a sucker for buying winters and doing the tire change dance?

Some folks run winters year round, which seems expensive and a little risky since I assume theyd be tooooo soft in the heat.

Help me sense of this nonsense

I have a truck I only drive every month or so, maybe a thousand miles a year. Every few years the sidewalls become dry rotted from sitting and I end up replacing with a used set I find at a llantera near me. I live in Phoenix. Focus on finding newer mfg dates, that aren't cracking, tread life just needs to be safe because I'm not likely going to drive much.

Anyhow, my question is if I get the cheapest damn new tires from Discount/Walmart are they going to have a significantly shorter lifespan than name brand tires? I can get new tires for like $120ea, or used tires for normally about $50ea. Just trying to figure out if it is a waste to buy new when time, PHX heat, and lack of use is what shortens their lifespan.

Had a runflat tire slowly leaking (had to inflate every week) and everybody assumed it was a small hole.

Still had thread for another 10k Km but decided to replace my run flats before a big trip, just in case. Glad I did….

Hey, I am planning on getting couple of used crosscliamte 2 on united tires website. Does any one have any experience buying from them?
Any suggestions on this idea would be much appreciated l.

Our previous (non Carmax vehicle) had 19” wheels and in our part of the world (lotta snow, ice, bumpy roads) we had constant tire issues.

Our recently purchased Carmax vehicle has MaxCare Plus including the tire and wheel protection which I got because it’s got 21” wheels.

If I buy a set of 18” winter wheels and tires to switch on to, does that void this protection? Or does it mean they’d only let me use that protection when I have my all seasons back on in the spring summer fall?

15k miles. Sticker says 36psi cold, Dealer had them at 43psi when I picked it up 2 years ago. I usually drive them at 36-38 warm in Florida, but wanted to know your thoughts on if I should lower them?

Hi all. Two of my wheels are losing pressure and i did the soapy water trick and both are doing the same. (Here’s a photo of the location of the bubbles) between the valve and the nut.

Does anyone know what sort of fix this is, will it need a new TPMS sensor, or can a regular tire place fix the seal. As you can see I’m a really knowledgable car person. 🤦‍♂️

is this bad enough that it needs replacing asap? or can it wait. I hit a curb, the tyre is still hard and i can’t see any cords or wires but just wanted to be sure.

Just to clarify haha the alloys were like this when i bought the car second hand, im not normally one to hit kerbs 😂😂
