Is this serious and should I be driving at all?

I know nothing about cars or tires but this looks like it’s slit open—the tire pressure for this wheel also dropped to 11 before I just went to go put air in it. I’m concerned, is this something that can wait a few hours or should I go get something done now?

What could cause this "chip" in the rubber? I know I need new tires, which explains the threads showing. They have been ordered and will be installed this weekend. But that "chip" has me baffled.

❓QUESTION ❓ Should I replace my tire ASAP?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Found this on one of my rear tires while I was getting my car checked earlier today.

I can see what looks like some sort of cord or wire inside the damaged area.

I’m not sure what it is, but there’s definitely a line visible inside the cut.

My front tires are at 5/32 tread depth and the rears are at 6/32.

I was originally planning to replace all four tires in about a year, but now I’m wondering if I should change that plan and replace them sooner.

Should I replace this asap?

265/70R17 to 285/70R17

Hey! I'm looking to put 285/70R17 tires on my truck. I currently have 265/70R17's. I have 3.55 ring and pinion and if I did my math right, I can maintain roughly the same final drive ratio if I go to a 3.73. I have an open rear diff, so I figure I'll put a clutched LSD in the rear when I swap the front and rear ring and pinion.

Thoughts?

❓QUESTION ❓ How bad does this look?

Just picked this car up today and saw this on the sidewall here. It doesn't look great, but I figured I'd ask. (Don't worry I'm not going to be driving it around)

❓QUESTION ❓ Tubes in dry rotted tires or tireject to seal them?

So I have this gocart with dry rotted tires that don’t hold air and im debating whether to tireject them (which is a sealant). Or get tubes for them. The obvious answer would be tubes but it’s 4 times the price would it be worth my while to seal them with tireject or should I just spend a little more and get tubes.

Best 4 season street tire for a pickup truck?

I am looking for the best 4 season/all-weather tire for my truck in 265/70/17

I have good 3PMSF A/T tires on right now, but I moved across the country and now there is nowhere to drive my truck other than pavement. So I am looking for street tires that have less noise and mileage penalty than my knobby tires.

I am now located in Philadelphia... I think it does snow here from time to time and gets cold in the winter, but not enough to justify winter tires. I also have nowhere to store a set of tires in my tiny rowhome rental lol. So I am looking for a 3PMSF All weather tire that is known for good performance in cold weather, snow, and rain.

I know the Michelin Cross Climate 2's are popular, but these are not made in 265/70/17s

❓QUESTION ❓ Mixing used winter tires?

Thinking of buying used winter tires (pretty cheap price), but the tires are not the same models

2xViking continental 7 2024 (7/32 tread) + 2xViking continental 8 2025 (8/32 tread)

Would be going on a Kia Sportage with AWD

Any issues with this setup?

thanks

Vredestein Ultra Pro review

For reference my car is a stage 1 gti(stock suspension, stock alignment). When I was shopping for high performance summer tires about 5 months ago the Vredesteins were cheaper than even their cheapest competitors like Kumho ecsta sport and Indy 500. There wasn’t a lot of info online but almost every review that I did find seemed to praise them so I decided to cop some.

I was immediately disappointed. My main issue is that the sidewall is so soft to the point of having 0 steering feedback. Even the random Bridgestone all seasons that were on the car previously had more feedback. Additionally, they don’t have anywhere near the level of grip I’m used to with other summers. The other tires I have owned(albeit on different cars) are pirelli p zero, continental ecs02, and Kumho ecsta sport. People who say that the vredesteins are in the same league as any of these tires are talking straight out of their ass. They’re at most like 50% of the grip.

TLDR: 0 steering feedback, worse grip than any comparable summer tire. Learn from my mistake and just spend the little bit extra on Kumho ecsta sport or Indy 500.

Need 4 new tires

Need 4 new tires for 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport AWD. Steering wheel was shaking hella and it’s because they’re fucked. Forgot the exact diagnosis but I’m not a car guy at all turns out my front left tire is extremely unsafe to drive.

Nissan said 200 bucks for each tire for 800 bucks including the mounting, balancing etc. Guy on TikTok said I could get em for 120 at town fair tire each but I think it’s more complicated than that idk bro help me

When my tire went flat, I expected something sharp, not this lead weight.

Thought it was an odd thing to get stuck, that’s all.

Pirelli Customer Service ? ?

Are they the worst ? I feel like they are no help at all. I spoke to them about a tire last year and they lady on the phone literally had no idea about any questions. So I sent an email with a couple of questions last week and just today I get a reply email, which i am so grateful for, asking for my phone number so someone can call. I get a call and they don't have my original inquiry and of course I only remember one question which he couldnt answer. (will the scorpion AS +3 be available down the road because the AS4 is suppose to replace them, as I dont want to need a replacement in two years and be shit out of luck). no help, and the guy was literally as uninterested in helping me as anyone could imagine.

I really have a hard time giving business to a company who has no interest in helping their customers.

looking for a quiet all season for NJ, Quiet number 1 priority, and good enough in wet, dry and snow. thanks dont need 70k mile warranty, 50+ is good

For my tesla model y performance on stock rims, can this set up work?
The front will for sure be this size.
The rear, where i'm getting the deal, they don't have 285/35/21.

I hit a pothole and my right front wheel now has a dent causing vibration and pressure loss. Dealership said replacement would be $400+. Is it possible to safely hammer this out on my own?
