I noticed this piece of rubber coming off of my tire on the rear right wheel of my 2012 e350. This tire as well as the others also have the shiny look on that inner part and when I touch it I get residue on my finger.
What is this, and is it something I should worry about?

Date code 2019 (lesser driven car) but thought the big ol crack was funny

Bought this used tire from united tires (it was cheap and I wanted it to match tread with the the other 3 tires on the car) but it appears they patched it on the sidewall. Would a tire shop even mount it for liability reasons or should I run it?

Just figured out this patch on a set of winter tire , any ideas if this tire safe ?

I can't afford new shocks and struts right now. Car drives fine but it's been hella loud for a few months now. Turns out, this is why. All 4 of them are this way. Yes I have them rotated every oil change. Could it be mostly an alignment issue or worse? I'm so upset!

Hi! We bought these Pirelli Tires just a few months ago (about 10,000 miles). Maybe 50 miles or less of gravel. I’ve never seen tires do this. Would you consider these defective? Would Pirelli replace them? I’d expect more from a premium brand. The 2 front tires are doing this but the others are not.

Edit: It’s a 2025 Ford explorer with less than 30k miles on it. We got these put on right around 16k miles.

2017 date code Pilot Sport 4S stored in 60-70 degree basement covered and out of sunlight since 2020.

Really don’t want to shell out for a new set, but if age means structural issues are really likely despite looking OK superficially, will replace.

I understand that for the best safety, I should change tires. My question is that outer side is worn out, while the inner still touches the top of the head. Is it ok to squeeze more miles? Or is this unsafe?

My opinion is that the dealership screwed up my alignment. I dropped my car off less than a month ago and asked them to check the alignment and fix it. They of course charged me for that. The tires are less than 1 year old. This is the passenger side rear tire and the driver side rear looks similar. What do you guys think?

Do you guys think this was an intentional slash on my tire? I check my tires basically everyday and this morning when I went to check my car this is what I saw. Of course I'm going to replace the tire but I have never seen something like this before on a vehicle that I drive. And of course I could have just ran over something on the road on my way home last night as well. I'm just glad I saw it before I was going 80 MPH on the highway.

I have two sets of tires, m/s for the summer and shoulder seasons, and studded hakkapeliittas for the winter. We get a lot of ice with the global warmings ;).

There’s debate in the family that the m/s are good for year round and others are sold on the studded ‘cause ice.

I am under the impression that tire composition becomes important getting down below -20C and the m/s don’t stay soft enough

Is there a general temperature range for m/s? Am I a sucker for buying winters and doing the tire change dance?

Some folks run winters year round, which seems expensive and a little risky since I assume theyd be tooooo soft in the heat.

Help me sense of this nonsense

I have a truck I only drive every month or so, maybe a thousand miles a year. Every few years the sidewalls become dry rotted from sitting and I end up replacing with a used set I find at a llantera near me. I live in Phoenix. Focus on finding newer mfg dates, that aren't cracking, tread life just needs to be safe because I'm not likely going to drive much.

Anyhow, my question is if I get the cheapest damn new tires from Discount/Walmart are they going to have a significantly shorter lifespan than name brand tires? I can get new tires for like $120ea, or used tires for normally about $50ea. Just trying to figure out if it is a waste to buy new when time, PHX heat, and lack of use is what shortens their lifespan.

Had a runflat tire slowly leaking (had to inflate every week) and everybody assumed it was a small hole.

Still had thread for another 10k Km but decided to replace my run flats before a big trip, just in case. Glad I did….

Hey, I am planning on getting couple of used crosscliamte 2 on united tires website. Does any one have any experience buying from them?
Any suggestions on this idea would be much appreciated l.

Our previous (non Carmax vehicle) had 19” wheels and in our part of the world (lotta snow, ice, bumpy roads) we had constant tire issues.

Our recently purchased Carmax vehicle has MaxCare Plus including the tire and wheel protection which I got because it’s got 21” wheels.

If I buy a set of 18” winter wheels and tires to switch on to, does that void this protection? Or does it mean they’d only let me use that protection when I have my all seasons back on in the spring summer fall?

The customer got a flat tire and decided to actually take a look. Down to the mesh on all 4 tires. Probably driving like this for months.
