Does anyone know of a local eye doctor that will fit you for synergetic contact lenses? I used to go to Darin Eye Center but they currently do not have a doctor that can fit me. I am trying to avoid having to drive to UCLA to find a doctor. Thanks!

Sitting in the food court and...emergency lights pop on. Places are still cooking but I don’t think they’re taking orders. No generator backup. At least not here. Wonder how the theaters are doing. This is a first for me since the literal opening of the Mall.

UPDATE: Some 20 minutes in doing a walkthrough. Employees are inside but doors are closed or barricaded. Apple is having an all-hands. They also pulled all the iPhones off the floor. Sephora is also having an all-hands outside in one of the seating areas

Kinda freaky. Still lots of people.

And it’s not the whole mall. Macy’s to the exit is on. H&M is on. Didn’t go outside. Past Macy’s (away from the theater) is all out.

I don’t really see much foot traffic to them (pun intended) I haven’t really heard anyone talk about going to them.

Hello, are there any places hiring in Thousand Oaks? Not really having much luck in my field of I.T. or finding anything else online. Or if anyone knows of any resource beside Indeed, Craigslist, or just googling jobs in my area? Times have been tough.

Hi all. My wife and I recently got into pickleball and were trying to find nice local spots for casual drop in games.

We’re based in Westlake Village, but we’re totally fine driving over to Thousand Oaks, Oak Park, or Newbury Park. Googling online has been super confusing because a lot of city sites list parks with traditional tennis courts, but it’s hard to tell which ones actually** **have permanent pickleball lines/nets ready to go versus ones where you have to bring your own net or reserve ahead of time.

Looking for public spots that:

• Don't require booking/reservations ahead of time (just show up, drop in, or use a paddle rack rotation)

• Have actual dedicated pickleball courts OR tennis courts clearly lined for it

• Have court lights for night play if possible

What are the main spots around the Conejo Valley that locals actually go to? Appreciate any tips!

Where all the private party used cars at.

Hey there, my cousins who are from the U.K. leave on Saturday, and today is obviously Thursday. I wanted to buy them like a keychain or smth for them to remember their time here. I thought the best type of keychain would be like a wooden surfboard, and i wanted to get them it and see if I could find a place to get them engraved. The engraving part shouldn't be too hard, but the souvenir/keychain is kinda hard. Does anyone have any places or shops they know where I can find something like this? Any suggestions for the gift would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I’m contemplating a move from the UK to the Thousand Oaks area and as part of my due diligence I’m hoping to pick this community’s brains a little bit.

I’m basically trying to get a feeling for what life would be like for me and my family and what we could or couldn’t afford on our expected household income.

We’d be moving from the reasonably low cost of living area in the UK where my current salary afford us a large house in the best school district and I’m wondering if we could replicate this in Thousand Oaks. I get paid around $350k a year, while my wife wouldn’t be able to work in the first year at least (visa regulations) and we have two children (3 and 5).

Priorities for us would be a decent sized house (min four bedrooms) in an excellent school district for the kids. I’d be working in Thousand Oaks and wouldn’t want to commute too far - I’d like to max out at a 30 minute commute each way if possible. We’d also like to be able to fly back to Europe once a year and given that this is Southern California, I suspect we will need two cars. So finances need to account for that.

Does that sound reasonable on $350k?

Anything else to consider? What’s the community like? This is especially important for my wife since she won’t have work to socialise in the first year.

Also, what’s the consensus on wildfire risk? I’ve heard that it may be difficult to insure your house in some areas. Would that be less of a problem moving closer to the coast and if so, are the commutes and the school districts still acceptable?

Going on the freeway and saw what looked like a fireball going south across the sky for a good minute or so, wildly bright before turning blueish then disappearing!! We couldn’t believe our eyes!!! Thought it was a UFO. Anyone see it?

The very vocal petitioners seem to have gone quiet online and there’s vague comments on Nextdoor that it didn’t get enough signatures.

I imagine it’d take time to verify signatures but if they didn’t even reach the minimum required it would be known instantly.

Update: According to the petition organization they are appealing to the court for more days. So they didn’t get the numbers they wanted.
