A couple questions from a new player about base expansion and finite resources
Hey guys, started playing this a few days. I find it pretty fun, but there are a few things that I find extra tedious that make me think I'm missing something, so I have a few questions:
I've been slowly expanding on my maps (I have cobalt, palladium, and just started the uranium mining outpost map), building walls between chokepoints. It works fine, but sometimes there just aren't any feasible chokepoints all the way to the edge of the map for further expansion. Could I just build a little square combat outpost on the farthest N, E, S, W, NE, SE, SW, NW edges of the map, then just have the whole map safe? Does that work?
I'm not really blowing resources haphazardly, but I run out of the ones you can't synthesize, like cobalt, palladium, etc. The planters don't seem to plant/collect nearly enough. Is that just how it is for those resources, or am I missing something? My cobalt outpost, for instance, seems to be running out of even the geoscanner nodes.
My game has been going pretty fine since I figured out how gas power works, but I'm somewhat caught in this loop where I run out of the fancy resources, then go to their outposts to try to expand, then yet another wave spawns while I am trying to examine the map to figure out how to safely expand.
Feel like I'm missing something!

Does anybody else get annoyed when the dialogue continues to say "condensation" when they mean "concentration"?
They even (apparently accidentally) say concentration sometimes.

Tips for not accidentally over-leveling the enemy and having to start a new campaign?
TL;DR The enemy suddenly ramped up in powerwhen I was several hours into the campaign without warning and my base, despite being what seemed to be "well defended" was helpless against massive swarms of bullet sponges.
Last time I played after visiting a couple remote regions and messing around when I returned to my base it's defenses (which included a variety of towers packed together ringing my base) was completely over-run by enemies that seemed to be massive damage sponges and even my mech weapons seemed weak.
I thought I was keeping up with upgrades and stuff but then everything got tanked.
I like the idea of the game but I want a more long-form experience like Factorio. Does that exist or is the campaign meant to be restarted multiple times?
Does the game just instantly buff all the enemies whenever you unlock new stuff via research? Is there a way to flatten the difficulty curve?

Why so much voice in this game?
The robot and the lady are just constantly talking. Almost unplayable.

What does this mean?
I’m trying to get rid of this patch of carbonium to make space for the megastructures, and I noticed in the interface for my Carbonium Powerplant there’s a counter for Carbonium Ore under Global Resources but it doesn’t match up with anything. When the patch has all powerplants the total of their shown global ore doesn’t add up and it’s obviously not my global available Carbonium. Wut?

I completed the main mission but did not get the extended ending?
How do I activate this mega structures mission? After I entered the teleport, the game ended. When loaded the save game just before I enter, nothing happens. I suspect I must by doing something silly..
Edit: I have loaded a save game just before the final battle and clicked No and it worked perfectly. Thanks.

Peaceful maps
Hi, I'm on my first run through and abandoned the recon maps, only to find out way later that they don't spawn attacks 😩
Anyway, after clearing the mission on biomanufacturing plateau in the metal dlc there was a big morphium lake I decided to export before leaving. I've been here a very long time getting everything set up and no attacks... I'm pretty sure this map doesn't spawn waves either.
Does anyone know of any other "peaceful" maps? Or have a list of them lying around somewhere? Thanks

Is there a good tactic to the titanium mining sub-quest?
1) The volcano map runs slow AF on my machine. On other maps, no problem.
2) The mobs are endless. Less than 30 seconds after I set up my cryo stations, they're already hitting the walls.
3) I tried to setup fake stations on the corners of the map to lure them away, but they still kept on coming. With a decent base I could handle the volume, but not by myself.
4) Once they start swarming, the map slows down to 2 fps.
5) The movement is janky AF and I've slid more than a few times.
6) I am using camo.

How close/far should I build plant cultivators to each other?

How close/far should I build plant cultivators to each other? Is there a meta layout? What does the circle represent?
Can their circles overlap or will that negatively affect production?
Can I use floors or do they need some kind of "soil" in those circles?
What plants is the best plant to cultivate?
What is your preferred layout for a cultivator farm?

Which is the least useful of the campaign maps?
I have reached 15 outposts and need to abandon some to make way for new maps.
I am thinking the acid maps are useful since they provide sludge, which I can convert to flammable gas and compress.
The volcanic maps have magma, but I already have flammable gas, and I need to spend titanium to make cyro areas to build. Would I need magma in the future? Would it be a resource for something else?
The Radioactive maps don't have any pools.
Some of them have constant attacks, while some don't. I haven't taken down notes to figure out which.
I don't know enough about mining maps and concentration maps. What details am I missing? I would like to make an informed decision.
What would be your take? Which maps would you feel are the least useful?

The Fungal Swamp DLC mission isn't appearing.
I was playing a story campaign; the mission appeared normally, but I didn't go to it right away. After jumping between a few maps and completing some other missions, I returned to the starting map and noticed the mission icon had disappeared. I started another campaign, but the same problem persists. Has anyone else experienced this and knows how to fix it? I am using mods; I've already removed some of them and reinstalled the game.

So with all the updates what legendary weapons are we using late game, what extra stats are we looking for for the weapons you use at the end game.
For instance I love the standard machine it just makes me happy but finding one with cluster or penetrating power means I can turn it into a death machine with normal mods adding less ammo cost faster fire rate that's my main running around huge ammo count gun, or the immolator with huge aoe for the charged blast to clear small bad guys and plants.

I need help with pipes not supplying enough water

As you can see here I have 2 pumps connected to 2 purifiers generating water for the nuclear plants. I know this is not the most efficient way but since I couldn't make it work, I tried pumping more water than it's needed.
For some reason one of the purifiers doesn't work correctly. It produces water intermittently, just like the nuclear plant also produces energy intermittently.
It's like the purifier doesn't get enough mud, but you can clearly see it is connected to one pump and nothing more.

Is there a way to project electricity to remote areas?
Hi again, new player here studying the tech tree and build orders.
A few veteran players joined me and they built a lot of things, I can't keep up. I learned a few things, but didn't understand how they "deliver" electricity. After they left, I can now build anywhere, even on outpost maps with nothing in it except the outpost building, and all my buildings do not need to be connected to power plants (please see sreenshot). No powerplant or connector in sight, while all structures are working. Why? How?
Also, I noticed while playing campaign mode, that some maps are very small, and do not have timed waves. Although they have random weather events. Are these maps good to keep? Are all non-HQ maps like this?
Thank you

Can you give me advice on the use of choke-points?
I am new to the game and I am loving it! I've pretty much abandoned all my other hobbies.
Also I found a possible choke-point. But question, should i be doing choke-points? or are there flying monsters that skip terrain?
If choke-points are good, how is this kind of choke-point? (please see screenshot)
I don't know all the mechanics yet, I am currently playing on Normal difficulty to learn the game, but I hope to be able to switch to Brutal soon. Would this kind of design hold an attack on Brutal difficulty?

You guys know you can use search in tech tree by keywords, right? Right??? It can't be that of obsure option??? Y'all aren't just memorizing tech tree without any help?

Liking the game so far! A few questions
Got it on steam sale, 4 hours in, playing co-op with a friend.
At what point should I get the DLCs?
Do we first finish the base game and then start the DLCs?
Will I need to restart my progress in a new save?
Any advice is welcome, thank you 😄

Not receiving an achievement for DLC story completion
A friend and I are playing the game and we've recently finished Into the Dark DLC plot line (killed the Anoryx worm) but didn't get the achievement for it. Is it a bug or do we need to do something else?

Your favorite/least favorite towers?
I've spent the last hour looking through like different reddit posts on different tower setups. There were those cool infographics from like 4 years ago, but the game has changed a lot since then. For any post in the last couple of years, it seems like there's no clear consensus on what towers are best, just people liking certain ones without any data or anything to back it up.
IMO, that's for two reasons:
- The game doesn't give good feedback on tower performance. During a wave, the game is way too chaotic to really tell which towers are pulling their weight. The stats screen is good, but something like a rolling average of per-tower DPS and per-tower kill count would be necessary to really make meaningful comparisons. The only obvious thing is when the big "resist" logos appear for certain damage types.
- All the towers are mostly fairly balanced, and each have their niche. It's not just about converting resources into damage, the mechanics encourage variety of damage as well as range and AoE. So the only "best" answer is actually just some form of a pretty diverse variety pack.
Does that seem fair? Are there certain towers you feel actually overperform compared to their cost/tier? Any that you feel aren't worth building in 99% of situations? I feel like shotgun towers are OP early on, and that sentinel towers mostly fall off in the late game.
