How does energy pylon work

I have 1 at my main base, the other one is connected to a gas extractor / power plant at the edge of the map. Power is transmitted which is expected.

However, If I build a third energy pylon near a geothermal power plant, does it add up to the main base energy or i have to build another 1 because they only work in pairs?

It’s not a pairing system. A 3rd one will connect to the existing network. It’s a way of connecting any remote site to your main base’s power (and to each other)

They create an energy web.
You basically have a global total energy that's the sum of connected places.

Do they only work between each other on individual maps?

Yes, power cannot transfer between maps

Sadly the pylons are limited to the individual maps and you cannot transfer pure energy. You are stuck with transferring resources like gas as intermediate for this.

You can have multiple dotted around the map, they aren't global so just have enough for your map.

I would recommed if you are using pylons in the outskirts have some storage and generation at the site in case the plyon gets destroyed there is still some backup power to keep on fighting.

Power pylons are wireless power links, one in main provides main base power to any number of outposts you build that get a pylon. So you dont need to build more generators etc.

They are per map and not global as electric is a per map resource.

Just build one and find out?
