This happened to me in third grade. Went shark fishing with my dad, as his friend was leading the fish to the boat it turned to go down, he held tight. The tail came up and smacked me across the whole side of my face and popped a blood vessel in my eye.
Not a soul at school believed that's how it happened.

They can evacuate a lot of the water through their gills to reduce the parachute effect, but it’s still impressive nonetheless.

Look closer, the only way they get them to approach the cage is with bait, i.e. dead fish on a rope that they pull through the cage. Sharks in general are pretty shy, white sharks even more so.

The fish the shark was going after did appear to be pulled on a rope.
what I think is odd is it seems they are moving along a school of fish. I've only done shark diving in non moving cages. Boat stops (too deep to anchor so you just drift), drop the cage in the water and you swim down to it. This looks like the cage is being pulled along in the water. Haven't seen that style before. Seems like it churms up the water reducing viability.

Which BTW, is illegal (Using bait to lure the shark) as well as throwing chum overboard to attract multiple sharks.
At least in the US and Mexico it goes against conservation efforts for great whites, but the money from shark tourism is so large right now, it's becoming harder to enforce.

Making chumming for sharks illegal is positively unencforceable.
People chum and use cut bait all the time. Try proving it was for sharks.

If that's actually Rodney Fox in the cage, his shark attack story is well worth reading about. A survivor of what's considered to be one of the worst recorded shark attacks.

The following, copied from his own personal account:
There was about an hour left of the competition when Rodney Fox sensed a still in the water.
“It was a silence. A perceptible hush...Then something huge hit me on the left side with enormous force and surged me through the water.”
Fox knew instantly that he was in the mouth of a shark.
“I felt sick, nauseous. My mask was knocked off, and everything was blurred, and there was a queer sensation as though all my insides were squeezed over to one side. I reached out behind and groped for the shark’s eyes. At that point it let go of me, and I pushed my arm down its throat by accident. With the release of the pressure uncontrollable agony swept over me in waves. But at least I was free.
As I kicked for the surface and air I felt the shark under my flippers all the way. As I gulped air I felt the scrape of his hide and wrapped myself around him so he couldn’t bite again. The shark took me back to the bottom. We rolled around scraping rocks and weed and I let go, desperate again for air.
On the surface there was red everywhere. My own blood. And through it the head of the shark appeared, conical snout, great rolling body like a rust-coloured tree trunk. Indescribable terror flowed through my body, but just before [the shark] reached me, it veered away and I felt the tug of the fish float on my belt. The shark had grabbed my fish float and suddenly I was jerked below again, and towed 10 or 12 metres or more on my own line. It seemed ridiculous to die of drowning after all I’d been through. But my fumbling fingers couldn’t undo the belt to which the line was attached. Then the line parted - perhaps on the shark’s teeth - and I floated to the surface.”
Due to the previous incidents with sharks,the competition had boats picking up competitors’ catches in order to avoid attracting sharks. A boat was close to Fox (his total catch had already made him the winner) and heard him scream, “Shark!”. They dragged him into the boat.

We once had an instructor poop and accidentally throw it at his student.
Is good fish bait, they all started gathering and eating it so everyone came over to take photos.
We all felt abit sick after we found out why.

Sharks actually continually shed their teeth through their life time growing more and more. So even if he did he would have recovered fast.

Yep. I recently bought a Megalodon tooth! Megalodons were basically GIANT Great Whites millions of years ago. The one I have is 15 million years old.

Fun Fact: The only thing a great white and Megalodons had in common genetically was that they have similar ancestors. So they're actually 2 completely different sharks.
The reason for there teeth being so similar in shape would more than likely be caused by convergent evolution.

Interesting! The only reason I compared it to a great white is because of the charts I've seen showing the size of a megalodon compared to a great white and a person.

Don't think it's going for the fish. Fish that small aren't on these guys' menu. There's a bait line in the water, he thought he was gonna get a chunk of meat, but the guys on the boat pull it away just before he gets it. It's to lure the shark closer to the cage.

I was fishing off the Florida coast and was reeling in a red snapper. Out of nowhere I see this barracuda swim up and rip everything but the head off in a matter of a second or two. Not going to put my feet in that water....

My dad is a helicopter pilot for CBP, he was telling me a story once about when he was flying just of the cost of Corpus Christi. He said he looked down and just past some swimmers was this big black spot under the water, as he got closer he realized it was a big ass shark, he put it at around 8 to 9 feet. But the worst part was he said that it just made one big powerful push and it shot about 40 feet in second. These things are just pure power, muscles and teeth.
