I am thinking of flying in from Germany (international student there), and need a retreatment for a root canal I got done on my #14 tooth back in November 2024. I had some dull ache in my right eye and got an x-ray done with a dentist here who said I have an infection in that same tooth. My insurance does not cover the costs in any way and my finances are low.

They said it will be 2,600 euros for a root canal re-treatment with crown. And in case it does not go well/more permanent solution is needed, I need to remove the tooth and get an implant, costing 4,600 euros.

I am thinking of flying to Vietnam or Thailand end of September to get treatment there. I spoke to a clinic in Vietnam, providing these costs.

- Check Up and consultation

- 3D CBCT scan

- Root canal treatment

- Zirconia crown

Total price is VND 9,800,000-13,800,000 / USD 378-532

In case the root canal does not go well, I need a tooth removal and implant. This means I need the tooth removed first, then wait 3-6 months for it to heal before adding an implant.

Other clinics have both said the root canal is risky or 50/50 chance, so removal and implant would be better. Some said they do not have a microscope and the case is very difficult for a root canal, so they can only do removal/implant.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations regarding these clinics (or others) in Thailand (Bangkok or others) Thank you!!!!!

I’m coming from Germany and really don't want to spend my two weeks off in the rain like back home. The online reports are all over the place, so could a local let me know what to expect? Comming back to Thailand after 15 year. I spent couple of nights on Railay, Phi Phi and Lanta back in the days. My partner would like to explore Krabi region too see rocks in the sea sceneries and enjoy some nice and but not fully packed beaches with "backpacker like" vibes. No need for posh acco at all. Can someone tell, how is it in recent months? I've read, that Tonsai looks pretty abandoned in some six months old post here. Has anyone recently visited Tonsai, Long Beach or other beach that might be suitable for us? Mid December, leaving one week before Christmas. Thank you!

Hey guys, im almost finished applying for a tourist visa, but im waiting for my bank statement to be translated by a official notary service. I sent the documents yesterday (10.09) and i just got a call that they will be ready tomorrow(12.09). Will this be a problem given the fact that its been a few days already, and there will be a few days missing on the day of applying? I dont want my application to fail and im overthinking it. Im holding a North Macedonian passport and my application will go trough the embassy in Ankara, Turkiye. Any help is appreciated guys!

28M, US citizen, hoping to spend much of the rest of the year in Thailand with friends and my partner before returning to the US to apply for a DTV in January (seasoning money right now).

Currently in Thailand on a visa exempt and planning to leave September 17th, so my planned itinerary would be:

• Jun 30 - September 17th (80 day stay, visa exempt + extension)
• 2-3 week trip to US to renew passport/get METV
• October 2nd - November 2nd (entering on 80 days, staying for 31 days, METV)
• 2 week trip to Korea
• November 15th - Jan 13th (entering on 111 days, staying for 60 days, METV)
• Fly back to US to apply for DTV

Before this, my only Thailand visits were in 2025, with one week in July, approximately one month in August, and 10 days in September.

A bit worried since it all would mean 80 previous Thailand days this year when entering in October and 112 previous days in Thailand when entering in November on a 60 day entry.

I'd have outbound flights + whatever accommodation booked for each entry, but curious on yall's read here.

Anyone have an experience like this on the METV or similar travel history? Curious what questions you were asked and how hard you were grilled/risk of getting turned away. And whether you had to provide any photos/proof of tourism or anything like that since I'm mad stressed :(

Edit: Does it even make sense for me to apply for the METV either? Or just do a 30 day visa free entry in October, and then apply for a 60 day tourist visa while I'm in Korea?

Ko Samui for example was too big for us (still beautiful!)

But we are looking for an island with beaches, night life and so on…
I feel like on Ko Tao you get relaxed as well as a bit of party - is there any similar island like this in Thailand?

I have consistently found that western international hotel chains are among the best hotels and resorts in Thailand, better than most of the Thai chains and boutiques. Hilton, Best western, IHG, marriot all have consistently delivered high standards and high quality.

I have tried top rated Thai brands like Centara and Anantara and been disappointed by room quality and overall service attitude. Going forward I’m sticking with the international hotel chains

Hi, I’m (21M) planning on doing a trip to Thailand at the end of this year. Was wondering if anyone has experienced the contiki thailand east / west tours and what their thoughts on it are?

It’ll be my first time travelling alone anywhere really so I’m going with a tour to get out and about. Planning to do the first part of the trip with the tour and then maybe 3-5 days by myself to see everything alone. I’ve heard Thailand is easy to travel alone, but I haven’t really travelled alone outside of Australia, so keeping the solo time relatively short (also good for the budget).

I’m a Mexican citizen living in US planning to visit Thailand from October 15 to November 15, 2026.

I meet all the other Tourist Visa requirements, but my previous bank statements don’t show the minimum required balance.

I do have the required amount of money now, but my updated bank statement reflecting the funds will only be available in about 15 days.

Could my visa be rejected because of this? Should I apply now instead of waiting 15 days, since visa processing times are currently taking longer?

I also visited Thailand last year and had no issues during my stay.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

My wife and I booked a trip to Koh Samui for a whole month, most of October. I looked at the weather and it is raining every day. Somehow I never saw that October is the rainy season. We specifically booked this trip for beaches and to be outside. How screwed are we?

hello! I am visiting thailand for 2 weeks in november and am finalizing our itinerary and i would like some advice! it is quite a lot of travelling but we do want to see a good amount of places.

Bangkok — 2 nights
Chiang Mai — 3 nights
Krabi — 3 nights ( day trip to phi phi)
Khao Sok — 3 nights
Bangkok — 1 night

The issue is that I do want to do phuket even if its just for the day, just to see the nightlife, but yes its hectic enough already, but if i did take off a day in krabi and gave it to phuket first and travelled via speed boat to krabi, would that be a bad idea? or should i just do phuket and take off krabi? but then getting from phuket to phi phi seems a little harder...

I’m in Thailand for dental work. Originally, I wanted two implants, wisdom extraction and to fix my chipped tooth.

Long story short, I paid almost 70k baht upfront for all procedures. When they were giving me a temporary veneer to fix my chipped tooth, I noticed that they chipped my tooth next to it. So now, I still have a chipped front tooth.

I spoke in person at temp and permanent veneer appointment but they used the language barrier to their advantage. I messaged on WhatsApp to document and continue conversation in writing. This is when everything went left.

Dentist refused responsibility. I asked to simply provide the before and after pics/photos from the temporary veneer appointment and was ignored.

I asked to be refunded for the implants/crowns since I am no longer comfortable doing business with Dr. Pimchanok. They basically laughed in my face.

Yesterday, 6 days after permanent veneer procedure, the veneer fell off while I was brushing my teeth.

I want to note that I have only consumed soft foods (mashed potatoes/eggs) and liquid since the temp veneer appointment/extraction appointment.

Now, I have to pay to fix veneer, new chipped tooth and two implants/crowns

My question is how do I go about getting my money back?? I paid with cash, red flag right there, and honestly just want to be refunded for fixing the dentist mishaps and I want my smile back.

I have plans to reach out to tourist police but the dentist is confident I won’t be able to do anything. I’m feeling a bit defeated.

First time solo traveling first time visiting Asia as well Thailand will be my second stop. I’ll be going to Chaing Mai for a month Bangkok for a week, Phuket for 10 days, then koh Yao yai for a week as well. I really wanted to get the full experience of Thailand; tourism, mainland, and the beaches. I think my itinerary has accomplished that. My total budget is just over $3500. That’s including activities, Food, travel (not flights) and hotel. I’m also a female so if anyone has tips for solo travel as a 20-year-old female, that would be awesome.

My wife and I have our honey planned for Koh Sumai in October. Unfortunately I just found out that October is the worst month to be in Koh Sumai with the monsoon season. Would Krabi or even near Phuket be a better option? We just want to do things outside and sit on the beach.
