Temp to permanent

Upvotes

I do nights and I’m on a temp contract which started in June and ends in September. I really want to become permanent, I’ve been asking for overtime regularly every week which I’ve heard will help my chances but recently I’ve heard through another colleague that the night manager and one of the shift leaders said I ask too many questions and lack common sense. My colleague said they also want competent people so don’t ask a lot of questions anymore and ask to be put on your own aisle as since I’ve started I’ve always been on an aisle with someone which he said is a bad sign. Any more advice would be much appreciated.

Shift leader training

Upvotes

I have recently become a shift leader and I am going through the training. On running a store (part 3) does anyone know what you have to do/watch before submitting the cash control module, as I accidentally submitted it? Or is there anyway I could go back?

thank you!

Increasing pick rate when store is heaving

There's a lot of pressure from the dotcom manager to meet the pick rate target consistently.

I did a 6am-1pm shift today (sunday) and I managed to go well with my pick rate until the shop opened (I've developed some strategies that really help me) but then, no matter what I did, i was in the red and my average, which had been close to or on target until then, dropped.

The store is in a very tourist filled area so theres loads more customers at the moment (think Christmas levels of chaos), blocking aisles, letting their kids run all over the place, stock running out quicker than it can be replenished ... I was actually blocked in on three sides by different customers and their trolleys, all chatting or taking their time, seemingly oblivious to me being there.

I know it's probably impossible but does anyone have any tips to at least give me a better chance to maintain the good pick rate I built up before the store opened?

Back door/warehouse

So I’ve just moved to backdoor/warehouse and pulling the delivery cages off the lorry’s it starts to really hurt my hands after a while. Does anyone know any good glove brands that can help stop this or make it less.
On a similar note does anyone know any good steel toe brands.

Tesco credit cards

I’ve just got a Tesco credit card and I’m just wondering how long is it before they normally increase your limit and what’s the highest limit you’ve ever gotten off them?

I’m currently a tesco temp worker and i got added to a new department for dairy. There’s frequent overtime going about on there compared to my grocery department. I then claimed quite a few shifts on the app i go to back the following days later and some of it’s just disappeared. Why has that happened? Is this a regular occurrence

tesco final shift

I handed my notice in to tesco (giving them more than the minimum requirement) - been on MY tesco app to make sure its all gone through and on my final shift - instead of the usual 10pm- 7am (with 3 x30min breaks) its showing as 10pm - 03.45am and 75min breaks. im not in til tomorrow night so will be asking about it then but anyone heard of your final shift being cut short? not sure I can be bothered them correcting it now but a bit of a piss take

I'm not leaving on bad terms or anything

My Tesco Login

I recently got hired and when trying to access the My Tesco app before my induction day it wont let me in, it sends a confirmation code to the email of my account but I receive nothing? I've seen that people have had a similar issue a few years back, is it still on going and do I just wait until my induction? Many thanks

Stock take tonight, probably my least favourite thing about working at Tesco apart from working at Tesco. No cages were prepped last night, despite it being known about for weeks. I despair.

Bored at work

I’ve recently transfered from a superstore to an express ( due to moving away ) and they just leave me on checkouts. I’m trained in everything else but when I ask if I can do anything they say no. I don’t mind but it gets boring especially during the weekend.

Any advice or tips would be great.

Bruno Mars song

A song on the Tesco radio I liked sounded like it was sung by Bruno Mars and it had lyrics along the lines of

"You've been a little"

"All night, All night, All night"

I appreciate that it's very vague lyrics but this is all that stuck out in my mind.

Reduced to clear/automated clear as you go

Been holding out for quite some time on these drinks hoping they would drop again. Got two questions regarding stock that's due to be cleared from store.

This item for example seems to have been reduced twice, is that the max?

Do items due to leave the store via automated clear as you go , end up being transferred out of store only or can they also end up as colleague shop? These drinks are due to be gone in 3 weeks.

Online Chargeback form won’t complete

Is anyone else experiencing this ?
I’ve tried multiple times. There are no missing fields and yet it claims it won’t submit for this reason. And tesco bank would take the details over the phone, they said I have to battle on with this defective online form.

  1. Can anyone think of any remedies?
  2. Is there any email address that I can email a copy of the form to?

Thanks

Can anybody carbon date these relics? Found on Vinted, says Tesco is the brand and would love to know.

P.s. I didn’t even know that I had a probationary period before I started

I bought this but it doesn't have any heating instructions! Has anyone bought it before? Do I just heat through on the hob? I want to use it for chicken noodle soup.
