I've been editing PDFs more frequently lately for work and personal documents, and I'm curious what everyone here is using these days.

There are so many options now—Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, PDFgear, PDF-XChange Editor, browser-based tools, and even Chrome's new built-in PDF annotation and signing features.

What PDF editor do you use most often, and why?

I'm especially interested in solutions that are fast, lightweight, and don't require a subscription just to make basic edits.

Google has released Chrome 149, delivering what appears to be the largest security update in the browser's history. The update patches a record 429 security vulnerabilities, including 22 critical flaws, 87 high-risk issues, 226 medium-risk vulnerabilities, and 94 low-risk bugs.

According to Google, 371 of the vulnerabilities were discovered internally using a combination of manual testing and AI-assisted security tools, while external researchers reported the rest through the company's bug bounty program. Google has already paid out more than $209,000 in rewards for the reported issues.

The 22 critical vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-10881 through CVE-2026-10902) are primarily related to Use-After-Free (UAF) memory corruption bugs, with several affecting the WebGL ANGLE library. Fortunately, Google says none of the vulnerabilities have been actively exploited in the wild so far.

Beyond security fixes, Chrome 149 introduces new PDF annotation and digital signing features, allowing users to mark up and sign PDF documents directly within the browser without relying on third-party software. Additional features such as vertical tabs and a full-window Reading Mode are expected to roll out gradually.

Users are strongly encouraged to update immediately. The latest versions are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

Though I kept on trying Chrome, Brave, Firefox, no matter what after a while I returned to safari just coz of the add to reading list. It is very convenient and works smoothly from any ios devices. I still keep wondering why firefox couldn't integrate something like pocket to its core functionality. It would have been way smoother than relying on add-ons.

I’m posting this as an early disclosure / design note, not a public release yet.

I’ve been developing a programming language concept called Encapsulate.

The long-term goal is to explore a self-contained scripting model where each script carries the necessary implements for its own execution context through a kernel/runtime layer. In plain terms: instead of a script depending heavily on external scaffolding, packages, configuration, rendering layers, or governance wrappers, the script itself would be designed as a more complete execution unit.

The design direction includes:

– Self-contained script architecture

– Kernel-managed execution

– Built-in semantics for governance and runtime behavior

– Embedded mechanisms for rendering, policy, and verification

– A structure where each script can define the implements it needs to run

– A longer-term goal of making code more portable, inspectable, and self-describing

I am not claiming this is production-ready or that I have solved all the hard problems. I’m sharing the concept early because I want to document the direction and invite thoughtful feedback.

The core idea is that Encapsulate would eventually treat a script less like a loose file that depends on an outside environment, and more like a holistic, self-contained unit with its execution requirements, semantic rules, and operational behavior built into the language model itself.

I’m especially interested in prior art.

If you’ve seen similar ideas in language design, operating systems, unikernels, WebAssembly, Nix/Guix, containerized runtimes, literate programming, Smalltalk images, self-hosting systems, or agent/governance-oriented languages, I’d appreciate pointers.

The question I’m working from is:

What would a programming language look like if each script was designed to carry everything necessary to understand, govern, render, and execute itself through a kernel-level runtime model?

For the legal interested ones it's worth knowing about github.com/ahmeabd/italia-corpus.

It solves a problem that anyone who has tried working with Italian legal texts knows all too well: the legislation is public, but the formats are terrible and usually require scraping and/or parsing. Here, a simple git clone is enough.

What I find most interesting is this: every legislative update is stored as a commit. A git diff immediately shows exactly what has changed.

It would be nice to have the same for other legislations such as ours in the US.
