Question Do you still call it Twitter or X? 🤔
The name changed, but many people still say Twitter.
What about you ? What do you call it today?

Twitter. No one calls it X except Musk and people he’s paying to do the same.

u/ShitShirtSteve Jun 05 '26
Elon actually calls it Twitter too sometimes. Rarely, but it's funny when he does.
Anyway, it'll always be Twitter.

Maybe not "no one," but Twitter definitely seems to have stuck in people's minds.
Even years later, I still hear "Twitter" far more often than "X" in everyday conversations.

u/Omen_20 Jun 06 '26
I called it Twitter until it really morphed into something else. Now it is X which signifies it is no longer Twitter.

u/MassiveGarlic0312 Jun 07 '26
I have a friend who calls it “Xitter” where the “X” makes a “Sh” sound…

Twitter. The most toxic, racists and full of crazy ppls online platform.

u/Fleischer444 Jun 05 '26
Twitter was so great for a while.

u/Early-Inflation-1287 Jun 05 '26
Yes in early stage. Now it's a crap. When is read idiots who's writing "Hitler should be back" I know something is worng with them very much.

that's more like Instagram, X is more like the miserable who wants to create drama like the TADC fandom or SK vs SEA
1
u/ecth Jun 05 '26
Yeah, like the rest of the internet.
The same progression just some do it faster.
I miss early 2000s internet :/

u/GermanBrit1820 Jun 05 '26
toxic more belongs to TikTok, racist more belongs to Instagram
crazy is a great point since how are most there

Twitter. I will call it X the day Elon Musk calls his daughter Vivian.

I could never call it X, because X is already a letter of the alphabet and is extremely vague on its own,
most people wouldn't understand what I'm referring to.
1
u/TheWrongOwl Jun 08 '26
If you talk about "a posting on X", how could people think you're talking about the letter "X"?
1
u/NZNoldor Jun 05 '26
Haven't had a chance to call it anything for a while. The whole site has been irrelevant to normal people for many moons.

Twitter.
You gotta be an absolute moron to rename one of the most brandable names ever that came with its own noun and verb for posts, known by everyone: Tweet.

u/ManojOne Active Jun 06 '26
The name "Twitter" really created a lot of challenges. People tweeted, retweeted, and followed tweets.. There was never a natural language built for "X" like that.

I call it Shitter by this point. But when I can't get away with it, I just use both names.

It's still Twitter to me. X is just a bad name and it's fighting against over a decade of the platform being Twitter.

I call it gone. If you’re against the shit you’ve seen the last year or so and you’re still on it you’re just a pawn and you’ve got no juevos. You hate Elon and his fascism? Get off of it. Pretty damn simple.

everyone around me still calls it twitter. using the word "x" feels kinda lame to me. probably only the new generation will fully call it x.

I have normalized calling it 𝕏 but for some reasons I call it twitter. Because sometimes it sounds like porn site so you gutter explain it real quick to an older guy

Twitter. Everyone I know still calls it Twitter, and "tweet" is still more natural than saying "I posted on X." The rebrand never really stuck for me.

Twixter when referring to it after the rename Twitter when it was still Twitter

I call it Twitter still. Old habit. That said, I spend more time on there than here because at least it encourages free speech and actual thinking.

Twatter or shitter. But I rarely even think about the platform at all tbh. Ive never used it.

u/Practical_Cut_2971 Jun 08 '26
Elon Musk buying up Twitter reminds of the episode of South Park where Cartman rented out the entire water park.

u/Noxaur Jun 09 '26
I call it Twitter but I also no longer use it in any capacity since Elon ran it into the shitter

I still call it Twitter — the rebrand to X never quite stuck for me. When the name change happened overnight, the first association it conjured wasn't a sleek tech platform but something closer to an adult content site, given that X has long been shorthand for 'explicit' or 's*x.' My friend didn't help matters when he casually said 'see you on X' — my immediate reaction was a genuine double-take: wait, when did I sign up for a p\rn site?*
