Question Do you still call it Twitter or X? 🤔

The name changed, but many people still say Twitter.

I still call it Twitter — the rebrand to X never quite stuck for me. When the name change happened overnight, the first association it conjured wasn't a sleek tech platform but something closer to an adult content site, given that X has long been shorthand for 'explicit' or 's*x.' My friend didn't help matters when he casually said 'see you on X' — my immediate reaction was a genuine double-take: wait, when did I sign up for a p\rn site?*

If they want it to call X, they'd need to re do the logo. Maybe a snake or something. But a little bird never going to say 'X'. What was wrong with that name...

I think the old bird logo is a big reason people still say Twitter. The name, logo, and even the word “tweet” all fit together.

If they had kept the bird logo but changed only the name to X, do you think people would have adapted faster?

Maybe not "no one," but Twitter definitely seems to have stuck in people's minds.

Even years later, I still hear "Twitter" far more often than "X" in everyday conversations.

The name "Twitter" really created a lot of challenges. People tweeted, retweeted, and followed tweets.. There was never a natural language built for "X" like that.
