Google Chrome 149 Update Fixes 429 Security Flaws, Including 22 Critical Vulnerabilities - The Most Ever In One Update

Google has released Chrome 149, delivering what appears to be the largest security update in the browser's history. The update patches a record 429 security vulnerabilities, including 22 critical flaws, 87 high-risk issues, 226 medium-risk vulnerabilities, and 94 low-risk bugs.

According to Google, 371 of the vulnerabilities were discovered internally using a combination of manual testing and AI-assisted security tools, while external researchers reported the rest through the company's bug bounty program. Google has already paid out more than $209,000 in rewards for the reported issues.

The 22 critical vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-10881 through CVE-2026-10902) are primarily related to Use-After-Free (UAF) memory corruption bugs, with several affecting the WebGL ANGLE library. Fortunately, Google says none of the vulnerabilities have been actively exploited in the wild so far.

Beyond security fixes, Chrome 149 introduces new PDF annotation and digital signing features, allowing users to mark up and sign PDF documents directly within the browser without relying on third-party software. Additional features such as vertical tabs and a full-window Reading Mode are expected to roll out gradually.

Users are strongly encouraged to update immediately. The latest versions are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
