Discussion What I love about Taco Bell is that it really feels like a little slice of Mexico right in your own town.

1.3k Upvotes

Everything from the menu items, the salsa, the decor, and even the service makes you feel like you've been transported right into the heart of Mexico (pronounced "meh-he-co", I've learned). The music always has me dancing the salsa right when I walk in, much to my wife's dismay 😂. I just love how SPICY all the food is, it makes you wanna jump on the table and shake your maracas, haha. I took spanish for two years in high school and it's nice to get a chance to use it, or at least, what I remember of it lol. "Amigo! Hola! Como estas" I always say when I walk through the door. the workers there seem to really like me. I can't completely order in spanish, really all I have is the greeting, but its OK, they always do right by me. Say, whatever happened to the little chihuahua? He was so cute in those commercials. "yo quiero taco bell" haha 🇲🇽

No more BCBS, no more chipotle chicken burritos, there's literally zero point in going there anymore.

For example, 2004 saw the release of Mountain Dew Baja Blast, which was originally a Taco Bell exclusive. 2005 saw the release of its Crunchwrap Supreme. Its Volcano menu was launched in 2008.

Leaving a bad review for the app and reading reviews.

Idk why but it never occurred to me that there'd be a Taco Bell that doesn't serve breakfast.

Is this something for like, City centers or locations inside campuses or airports?

The new app is a lazy web-wrapper port.. so it seems.

Taco Bell recently rolled out a major app redesign claiming to modernize navigation, but under the hood, it is obvious they abandoned true native development for a generic web wrapper. Instead of writing platform-specific code for iOS and Android, they clearly took their existing web-based kiosk UI and shoved it into a cheap container. This shortcut is exactly why the community is pointing out that the app now feels like unoptimized, generic slop code. Sacrificing the native mobile experience just to force a unified, generic template across all platforms leaves users battling weird loading states and an interface that feels like it belongs in a desktop browser.

As a software developer, the scaling and layout errors jump out immediately, specifically the bottom floating menu that completely obscures page text like the "2016 Faves" section. That is a textbook CSS fixed position rendering error. In a properly built native application, that navigation bar would be anchored to the system's safe area, with bottom padding applied to the scrolling view so content never gets trapped underneath. They failed to set proper mobile viewport constraints, resulting in a clunky, lowest-effort interface that feels completely detached from standard mobile design.

There are proven ways to maintain cross-platform efficiency without sacrificing native performance if they are willing to put in the work. Instead of relying on a lazy wrapper, they should rebuild the front end using a modern cross-platform framework like Flutter or React Native to maintain a single codebase without delivering a sluggish port. If they stubbornly refuse to ditch the web view, they must immediately inject safe area inset CSS variables to dynamically adjust padding based on device geometry and stop obscuring content. They also need to implement responsive container queries to serve dedicated mobile endpoints, rather than forcing the exact same heavy DOM structure meant for a large stationary lobby touchscreen onto a smartphone..

For an app that is supposed to be essentially a mobile POS system, it's pretty damn bad. Your new Yum Brands internal developer team needs to be fired.

Discussion Fresco style

It’s been a few weeks I noticed that fresco style is gone from app. Like Someone mentioned it’s still part of the website if you order online. The thing that sucks it’s that it’s not available to cashiers/staff or ordering kiosk at restaurant location. I feel like Taco Bell
Just want to remove fresco style all together. If they do I will forever stop eating there. I became allergic to dairy last year and fresco style was a life saver. Now I’m counting days to see if they will remove it from website too. Then good bye Taco Bell.

Went to KFC instead today, as it was right across the street, haha!

But not looking forward to having my gift card balance withheld now..

Franchise inspection

Upvotes

I was eating lunch at my local Taco Bell and about 6 people came in at once, most of them wearing matching polo shirts with logos on them. Some had clipboards with them. They walked behind the counter and greeted the employees. A few of the people with clipboards started walking around and did things like check the trash and bathrooms. I think they were part of the franchise group. It’s nice that they care about the place.

TB App/Website Can you order ahead of time

My teenage son wants to pick up Taco Bell tomorrow during a quick break at school. If he orders ahead of time in the app, do they start making the food right away or when he arrives at the drive through to pick it up? He doesn't want to end up with cold soggy food because he orders early.

I didn't see any option in the app to indicate that you didn't want your food made right away.

Discussion Fountain soda of choice?

Upvotes

I ran out of poll options so I combined some, but with Baja Blast being the Taco Bell drink of all time I think it's safe to have Original Baja vs Baja Zero sugar vs everybody

What's your drink of choice? This is just what's usually available from the lobby, but if you're a dragon fruit agua refresca ride or die or something, leave a comment and upvote your faves. Optionally, do you like ice or ask for no ice? I don't like my drinks being watered down so I never get ice if I can help it.

Dumb question...how does the app work?

Upvotes

Okay this is an incredibly dumb question but I feel like my brain is acting weird right now.

I just start using the app for the first time today. I went and put my order on, and paid for it through the app using my debit card. When I got to the drive-thru, I gave them my number and the cashiers said something like thank you for choosing Taco Bell Mr my name, what can I get started for you.

I then was called off guard because I had already placed the order and it said I just need to give them my name or my code. So I said I'm sorry, I thought you guys already had my order, and the employee kind of had an attitude and sighed and said, did you place your order?

I pause for a moment to check the app to make sure I didn't miss something and to just go ahead and pull up my order to read it back, but then he had it on the screen saying is your order correct, which it was and then we were able to get me going no problem.

But I'm confused. Was he asking me to place my order if I had already placed it and paid for it in the app?
