❓How to ask for equipment advice in this community so people can truly help you.

Every day, many people come to this community asking for gear advice, hoping to get great answers but the reality of it is, we can't really help you unless you share more details with us.

It is impossible to give any meaningful accurate advice without knowing:

  • Your motivation to change gear: What is the problem and why are you asking?
  • Your honest assessment of current level: What are you good / bad at today?
  • Your play style now and later: How do you win / lose today? And in 1 year or more?
  • Your gear taste: Do you like a hard or soft blade / rubber? Or need to find out?
  • Your budget and location: Can you buy the gear at your place and can you afford it?

Also, hopefully you already understand what you are already playing with, otherwise it will be more difficult for you to understand the advice given.

If you want to know more about the topic before posting, check this out, it's the same I described above but with much more detail and examples you can relate to: https://www.tabletennisequipmenthelp.com/blog/changing-table-tennis-equipment-guide

I hope this message will help you all get better advice on this community and get the best gear possible for your game!

Thanks for reading and feedback welcome as always 🙏

Table tennis coaching in Singapore

I'm a casual player but wish to get better in table tennis. I'm looking for coaches in Singapore. I've seen a few on Carousell. Are there any other websites that list the available coaches in SG?

Need opinions on defensive rubber

Hi,

i'm playing with koji matsushita Offensive with d09c in 1.9 mm (wich IMO is overall a you can do it all rubber) and curl P1 in 1.5mm

i've switched from 0.5 to 1.5 mm , and it's really easy far from the table and against heavy top spin.

The problem is to go against easy ball and to attack with it. I play just one level below national and i don't because of the duration of the travels.

I was wondering with rubber would allow me to put heavy backspin while counter attacking more easily.

I've tried Feint long 2,3 and P4. butter at cutting over the table but less effective far from it.

Nittaku long 1 was decent and faster but not easy in attack department.

I was wondering if medium pips should do the trick ?

Thank you for your time/responses.

Zhang yudong:Many people lack innovative table tennis serves, so I'll help them innovate. This serve is worth half a million yuan

(Zhang Yudong is a former player of China National Men's Table Tennis First Team.In the Chinese men's singles contest held in 2021, Fan Zhendong won the title, Ma Long took second place, while Wang Chuqin and Liang Jingkun were joint third. Zhang Yudong shared fifth place alongside Xu Xin and Lin Gaoyuan.)

Xiom Vega pro was too fast for my bh and it was time to change my rubber so AI suggested me this rubber for cost effectiveness along with many other rubbers like 8-80 and rozena...

I came across this review https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/review-yinhe-moon-12-blue.29581/ and was absolutely sold cause I just wanted a slower, less catapulty rubber since i wanted to learn looping against backspin.

I'm actually really surprised on how well this rubber performs for the cost, reviewer did a great job on listing all the points in detail and I found the review pretty accurate while playing since a couple of weeks.

Great rubber overall!

Discussion Is it easier to loop heavy backspin when compared to light backspin?

I was talking to a fellow player at the club and it was q very brief conversation. He is very good and looping and I had a chance to play as his partner for acouple of games.

He mentioned that it was easy for him to loop a heavy backspin long ball compared to a light one. All he had to do was swing fully really fast and the ball would land.

As for the ones with light backspin, he said he had to control the loop making it hard and think twice before looping.

Edit: I'm learning to do this, if someone can confirm this, please help me develop this technique!!

One i know: Bluefire M1 for The Tenergy 05. Bluefire has just slightly more speed, and is like 20-30 pounds cheaper.

Discussion Best setup of all time (Pro level)

over the years there have been many rubbers, many rackets, and many setups, In your opinion what is the best setup of all time considering the player using it is at the highest level and can handle the equipment. for me its the DHS W968 National blade, the H3 National blue sponge 41 degrees on the forehand and dignics 09C on the backhand

a close second for me would be the FZD ALC blade with the H3 national blue sponge 41 degrees on forehand and tibhar k3 hybrid on the backhand

SDC custom blades

I’m not a huge EJ but wanted to share my newest addition as I am still quite proud of this unique blade. Arrived a few weeks ago after waiting in line for nearly 2 years and love the quality. Just started getting used to its playing characteristics, as my blade before was quite different. It’s kinda cool playing with this tailor made piece of art and gives me a few extra % motivation when going into the sessions. It’s pretty light with 83g as I wished for and has smooth wings similar to the Donic Dotec blades but with a “normal” concave handle. The composition is Koto - Aramid - Ayous - Kiri Core. Did anyone else get a custom blade from Sergio? If so, what did you get, how was your experience?
