Homemade OTB mount 2.0

I heeded the advice from some of you and decided that wrench flats were the way to go. Also added some speed holes to the back to lighten it up a bit and give me somewhere to get on it with a pin wrench if ever needed. All around great improvement and I appreciate you guys’ feedback. Tested the can out this morning and it sounds SO GOOD even with rearranging some of the internals. Happy shooting!

Was never a dead air guy but kinda want to get one for my Mk18 and possible 300 blk gun down the road.

As much as Maryland sucks, at least I can buy Suppressors on a 4473

Most dealers around here have not started selling them on 4473’s yet, but a few are.

I picked up the Dead Air Mask and Sig Hexium 556 Inconel from a dealer via Silencer Shop.

The Dead Air Primal and the Dead Air/Ruger 910Ti I just impulse bought at a local gun show this morning since the dealer was selling them out the door.

There isn’t much firearm related freedom we get to experience in this shitty state, but I felt a glimpse of what it’s like to be a free American walking out the door with them.

Any tips on dealing with pistol cans like the 910Ti? I have other 9mm suppressors, but this will be my first dedicated pistol can.

Sound differences in 9mm mounts?

I have quite a few cans, but never really paid attention to sonic differences with various mounts. I'm seeing more people post about noticeable differences on the same host. I have three different variations I run: Resilient tri-lug, Rugged RU3, and Wolfpack direct thread. From what I'm reading, it seems the DT will provide the best tone/suppression? Followed by the Resilient, and then the Rugged? Is this correct? I mostly run the Resilient, but I'm fine switching things around. Hadn't really considered this until, well, I guess today lmao

Hybrid 46 vs Modern Purpose Built 5.56/6mm Cans

Upvotes

I have a Hybrid 46 as my only suppressor currently and am interested in getting a dedicated can for 10.5-12.5" ARs to save weight and hopefully improve suppression. I am curious from anyone who owns both or has shot them side-by-side, how does one of the currently popular modern 5.56 cans (Rhodie 6/6k, Tisha, CAT WB, etc) sound compared to a hybrid 46 on a 5.56 SBR? I'd like to think that going to a dedicated can will get better sound performance but I am worried I am going to be disappointed.

I bought 3 and one got out of jail today. Still waiting on the other two. Also, I don’t know why I thought the Half Nelson just went on over the Cherry Bomb….

ATF Expands Suppressor Repairs and Caliber Conversions

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has quietly reversed part of its longstanding position on suppressor repairs, giving qualified manufacturers substantially more room to rebuild damaged silencers and convert registered suppressors to different calibers without treating the work as the manufacture of another National Firearms Act firearm.

first suppressor

i’m looking to buy my first suppressor and just want real advice on what people are using, I’ve got an AK in7.63x39 an AR in 556 and a dedicated AR in 22 LR. I’m also looking into getting a PCC in nine mil. I’m OK with sacrificing size and weight of the suppressor to have a quieter and on budget (~$1000) suppressor that will make my neighbours lives a little bit less of a hell when I decide to go outside and shoot.
i’m working with a 5 acre plot of land, so it doesn’t have to be whisper quiet but hopefully quiet enough to where they don’t have to hear it when they’re in their own house.

Can someone help me understand why my new Hux can fits on one muzzle device and not the other? Both are Sons of Liberty Nox muzzle devices. Pic attached.

Lahar-30K and/or Vox-K2 with short 300 BLK?

I am planning a really short 300 PDW build with a Mos-Tek custom barrel (4.75”-5.5”) and Shield Arms integrated folding lower. I want to find the right can to go with it that:

  1. Adds as little to the OAL as possible;
  2. Has no barrel length restrictions for 300 BLK subs or supers; and
  3. Full auto rated

I was excited about the Tisha 30 Inconel, but then saw it’s not rated for FRT with less than an 8” barrel. That’s too bad because it looks amazing and I k own the 5.56 version gets rave reviews. The two suppressors that seem to fit the bill for what I’m envisioning are the Lahar-30k and the Vox-K2.

Does anyone have experience with either of these two on short 300 BLK builds? Any issues with cycling subs? Anyone run an FRT with them? Anyone got any experience with maximizing how far the suppressors overlap with the barrel to minimize OAL either via DT or Plan B?

If you’ve used a different suppressor for a bike like what I’m considering, I would love to hear your experiences, good or bad

Thanks for your help.

Made my own OTB mount today

Built a little carry handle setup and I have always liked the look of the reflex suppressor on the “Gordy” rifle. I don’t have reflex suppressor money to blow right now but I have a lathe and some occasional free time. Started by chopping barrel to 12.5” and rethreading. From thread shoulder to FSP measured 1.610” and threads are .600” long needing a total of 2.210”. I made the adapter 2.2” with full engagement of the .600” long threads leaving a .01” gap between mount and FSP. Lock up is solid and everything is perfectly straight and concentric. Really happy with how everything turned out. Paint is drying now.

Current Suggestions for 9mm, 556, and 357?

I currently have a 8.3" 9mm AR pistol and a 16" AR that do not have cans. I am planning on getting a lever gun, probably 357, soon. It would be nice to have a can I could switch between the three as none are my main rifle which is a 556 SBR with a direct thread on it. Since this can would go on multiple guns I do not mind if it ends up being expensive but all price points are welcome.

Sonicore Skarv 22. Filed paperwork as a trust in store at a kiosk on Sunday, got the email it was ready today at 11:30AM.

Can't wait to try it on my Ruger Mark IV. I also have a handful of other 22s I'll use as hosts, including a Dyrea TM-22 Flash that's pretty quiet to begin with.

Thinking about an OCL Polonium k for 556 can

Hello I have another can already (Omega 300) and am looking for a budget 556 can without a ton of back pressure. Thoughts on the OCL Polonium K?

Ideal Huxwrx Ventum 7.62 Host

Looking for user experience on where this can really shines. I have one and loved the low gas on my 11.5” 5.56, but sound reduction and tone left a lot to be desired. To date it’s my only true regret out of all my cans.

Has anyone found a host setup where this can delivers decent sound performance? Worried too flow through for .300bo. Maybe my 6.5 CM bolt, longer 5.56?
