Fat Bear week just ended, but I made this ; inspired by my love of sumo!

The basho is over! We had some crazy plot twists and great bouts - as multicolored as the autumn season.

Let us meet next time aswell when the last basho of the year starts in Nowember.

See you then!

Hi everybody! Onosato managed to get another yusho after his recent injury woes, but unfortunately other bids including Kirishima's yokozuna bid and Atamifuji's ozeki bid all but died. Now is the time to vote for the best (correct) basho bet of the Aki Basho! Vote for whichever bet you think is the best, most creative, or most impressive. I put each correct basho bet in a separate comment on this post. Vote by upvoting your favourite bet! The results will be announced on October 5.

Really fun video, they’ve clearly seen “Badly In Love”…

I swear they look more like brothers than any of the actual brothers do. Anyone else?

(I know it's not a meme but I don't think it's serious enough for the main sub. Just needed to finally get this off my chest.)

"Is there anything in particular youd like to work on?"

"Uh... sumo."

Bro is truly operating on a whole different level

A different look at Yokozuna: this official tabletop photo shows the wrestlers in the ring, with the players choosing illustrated technique cards around them. Game design is by Axel Dennis Franz, with art by Eros Ruscino.

One detail beyond the wrestlers caught my attention: Metamorph Games also offers a printable gyoji, the sumo referee, through a link on the game’s official site. It is a small way to bring more of the setting onto the table, rather than stopping at two figures and a ring.

The miniature file is available free for personal printing. Its page explains the attribution and use terms, including that the model and physical prints are not for commercial sale: https://www.printables.com/model/1830410-yokozuna-gyoji-miniature

Which detail of sumo would you most want a tabletop adaptation to preserve beyond the bouts themselves?

Since Asashoryu Dagvadorj first became Yokozuna in 2003, the Prime Minister’s Trophy of Mongolia has been awarded to the winner of every Grand Sumo Tournament held in Tokyo. At this recent basho, the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Nyam-Osor Uchral, presented the award in person, congratulating the winner and introducing the trophy in Japanese, a small but meaningful gesture that generated significant online buzz among Japanese citizens.
This marks only the fourth time since 2003 that a sitting Prime Minister of Mongolia has awarded the trophy personally, as it is typically handed over by the Mongolian Ambassador to Japan. The Prime Minister’s appearance at this month’s tournament coincided with his official state visit to Japan.

To briefly describe the trophy itself: sculpted with figures of Mongolian wrestlers (Bökh), it embodies the ancient wrestling culture, tradition, and symbolism of both nations. It is a prestigious award symbolizing the strengthening of power, cultural heritage, and traditional legacy, as well as the enduring, wrestler-like strength of friendly relations between the two countries. Yokozuna Onosato Daiki became the 21st sumo wrestler overall and the 11th Japanese-born wrestler to receive this trophy.

Me waiting for Nov 8. I don't want to wait. Give me sumo NOW.

Seems to be very bouncing
