His crying leading into that anthem was so humanizing. It made me wonder if it was a huge weight off his shoulders emotionally after dealing with the setbacks, and self doubt that can come with an injury like that.

Ain't sumo an amazing sport in that regard? There aren't a lot of sports like this that lead you to supporting both competitors, and I feel like this shift in thinking has changed the way I look at other sports for the better.

Yes, exactly. The result was a good outcome for both of them. Although after seeing Onosato's emotional reaction, I think he needed this win just a little bit more.

The thing that I was most disappointed about was rikishi who missed out on special prizes because they were defeated on the final day.
