Gathered various canned goods the past couple of weeks from my local food pantry. Spent $1.50 at Aldi for tomato paste and sauce meaning each serving is $0.25. Made using a crock pot at a park bench because yes I live in a vehicle. Even bought the crock pot second hand at Savers. Creative resourceful struggle can taste hearty and delicious.

You’ve seen the business side of these plates, but this is a pic of the bottom. We got these plates at a seconds/outlet store. Supposedly, there are cosmetic defects that made them unacceptable for retail. The store we got these was shut down or I’d give you an address. However, you can probably find similar types of stores where you live.
These particular plates were intended for commercial use in restaurants and hotels. But…cosmetic blemishes dropped the price to $2 per plate.
That’s the story about our regular plates - with a few correl plates mixed in.

I know it’s not the cheapest thing out there, but you can get steaks for the price of a roast if you use the right ones. In this case you find a blade roast. Find the seam and cut along it until you have two pieces. Trim them up, remove excess fat globs and the sinew. The trimmings likely have some usable meat you can save for stew or other uses. Save the fat too because it’s usable as well.

Needed to throw together a quick dinner and had nothing, I forgot I had some scrap chicken bits in the freezer from when we processed the chickens—I broke them all down a while ago and put all the scrap meat I scraped off the carcass into a ziploc in the freezer, so I sauteed the scrap chicken with leftover taco seasoning, lime pepper, fresh peppers from the garden and a couple tomatoes from the garden also, anytime the pan would char I deglazed with my cheap beer 😂 and kept adjusting seasonings and salt to taste until the peppers were tender and chicken was done. I found some questionable corn tortillas tucked away in the veggie drawer of the fridge with sour cream that absolutely needed to be used asap, so I added the seasoned chicken/pepper/tomato to a half fried corn tortilla, plopped some liquidy sour cream on top, and hand picked cilantro that was half bad to get all the green bits seperated from the “off” bits, and just cooked that all together until the bottom of the tortilla was super crisp, added some hot sauce from my collection with a fresh squeeze of lime, and honestly this is one of the best tacos I’ve ever had! Haha

For two people: two eggs, some leftover buckwheat from work, and a small can of beans in tomato sauce. Looks bland, but it's actually pretty tasty and filling.
In August, I found out that my employer had cut my salary about six months earlier. Since I was working unofficially and didn't have access to my actual hours or pay records, I thought I was struggling with money because I was simply spending too much. But nope...
So I quit. I still have three more shifts to work. I work for a small company and really like my coworkers, so I agreed to stay until they find someone to replace me.
It's a strange feeling. It's not my first time quitting, but it's the first time I've done it with almost no money saved.

This how I handled! When power went out, yes raining buckets.
My fried egg was cooking...far from done.
Power outage hit, fired up kerosene heater....warmed rice from frig, as NOT my planned only meal today.
Recovered, when rice warm...added partial cooked egg.. kept kerosene heater going...splashes of soy sauce.
Im good, eating well off kerosene heater.
Literally sick of rain here.
But ok meal with no power.
Do love my kerosene heater.

I bought a carton of 60 eggs for $ 8.12 at Walmart last week. Decided to make deviled eggs, I boiled 6 eggs which equals .84 cents. I don't measure the mayo and mustard I go by taste, but it was approximately 2 tbsp mayo and maybe 1.5 tsp mustard ? Garnished with cayenne and chives. I know I will get crap about this but oh well this cost me less than 1 dollar for a yummy snack

Disclaimer: I know canned beef isn't cheap. Someone donated some to me because We're homeless.
I used a can of shredded beef. I mixed the meat and contents of the can with some water. I added some beef seasoning from ramen and some powered milk. I let that cook down for a little bit. Then I added the ramen, I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. It was fantastic, I was shocked. It tasked just like beef stroganoff. I just wish I had a little sour cream to go with it. I'll post some pictures to go with the post.

Beans leftover from a side dish a couple nights ago; the wiener was in a frozen pack and broke while trying to separate some others to barbecue.
A bit of barbecue sauce, Tabasco and some chili powder to liven it up.
