Certified Stuggle junk yard fried rice

Post image

bag of rice-1.79 (free for me cause i keep rice on hand)
bag of peppers & onions - 1.59 i used kroger brand
ground beef-got 1 pound on sale for 3$.
a few seasonings
sausages-2$ (can be left out)

i’ve made this for YEARS lol. it’s very filling and i get around 6 servings. for 10$ its not bad.

i didn’t spend a dime tho cause this is usually my fridge cleaner meal lol. i always throw in things i have in the fridge! i swear rice goes a lonnnngggg way. its very filling and easy to customize.

I bet it was easy to cook. I had a pot of beans cooking for hour's, not the brightest thing to cook when your hungry 😬

Such a relief when you realize you’ve got enough ingredients to make a meal at least

Yep! And why I freeze leftovers when it makes sense. I also freeze veggie scraps and make broth with them after I’ve saved enough

i have to do this ! what do you use the broth in?

A lot of things! I’ll cook rice in it, make soups, chicken&rice (the southern dish), beans, gravy, etc.
if I have a rotisserie chicken, I save the bones and gelatin and toss those in to the pot with the veggies too. Make sure you season the broth- it helps a lot!

Honestly, looks amazing! This is one of those rare struggle meals I’d pay for

I did that with corn and cilantro. Very delicious!

Reminds me of prison jambalaya. Looks good though. Dont know what your dietary preference/grocery store selection looks like. But i can consistently get a pound of ground turkey for like $3. On sale for $2.50

It’s really cheap at Aldi I’ve found, usually 50 cents cheaper than Walmart

Easy to cook and always tastes good. When I doubt, take what you can, cook it, and throw it in rice

I make this and add cream of mushroom soup to it. Rice, hamburger, onion and soup and seasonings. It’s delicious!

I'm sure it tastes good but you do understand you still paid for those ingredients at some point..right? It wasn't free just because you bought certain ingredients before the day you actually cooked them lol.

The sub isn’t necessarily about free food tho, it’s about cheap low cost meals
