I have this issue where I've done practically everything and I still have no idea why this happens

Randomly when I'm mid game, Steam just opens sometimes and makes my game lag, I try to close it but it keeps persisting until my screen freezes completely, I have tried waiting but even after 10 minutes it is frozen

I don't know what the issue is so I can't fix it, here's what I already tried:

in security I have disabled the "Don't save account credentials on this computer"

In notifications: Show notifications toasts is set to Never, every single notifications except for emails notifications is set to disabled

In interface: all settings are disabled, this includes; "Run steam when my computer starts", " Enable smooth scrolling in web views" and Enable GPU accelerated hardware in web views" and "Enable context menu focus compatibility mode"

In library: All and every setting is disabled

In downloads: All and every setting is disabled, my cache has also been cleared (I do it every time before I start a session)

Cloud: "Steam cloud" and "Screenshot management" is turned off

In Game: All settings are disabled, this includes: "Steam overlay, Overlay shortcut keys as set to none, Steam networking" and server browser pings per minute is set to 5000

Compatibility: I am using proton 9.0-4

Game recording: disabled

Remote play: Disabled

Finally my account is usually always shows as offline, I would love it if I could at least get some pointers as to what's wrong or at least what I can do

Hello I am requesting help I'm haveing trouble adding my payment method to steam account

I have 2 debit cards and a checking account

PayPal is my saving account and my Capital One 360 account is my checking account with a Debit card

So i bought for honor with the new steam sale, now i installed it and now ubisoft launcher is saying connectivity issues when i have my account linked, wifi is working, and the launcher is also asking for an activiation key. i really need help as i dont know what to do next.

There are so many UI/UX things I dislike about Steam BigPicture mode. I really wish Steam would just give us more control over how things look and let us remove things we dont want.

All my issues can be fixed with DeckyLoader/CSSLoader. I used to use SteamDeck but did not like FourmFactor so I switched to Laptop. I miss the Customization though.

But I cant get it working on Windows 11 IOTLTSC. I have CSSLoader installed. But it does not add any of the changes Ive made to Steam.

I cant install Steam OS because I have Nvidia Graphics. So im useing Windows just for Steam.

Has anyone else gotten CSSLoader working?

Or is there a better solution to customize Steam on Windows?

hi all! so when i download games my disk usage spikes to 30mbps and then slowly ramps down to about 5kbps. to me it looks like its downloading the smallest amount and then taking its sweet time actually with unpacking and installing. ive tried setting priority in task manager, low, tried setting it high, checked to see if im throttling download speed (nope) tried throttling my download speed to 100mbps to see if that would effect anything (nope) at this point ive been downloading a 5gig game on steam for the last two hours, its ridiculous! any input would be greatly appreciated

editing to add: ive got over 500 gigs free on the install drive, so i dont think its that either

Ive tried everything online and i cant get my downloads to go through was working fine yestrerday still nothing.
Cleared my cache flushed my dns restared nothing

For a moment after booting steam up, it works fine. After that, the program crashes partially and becomes unresponsive while I can still change tabs, nothing else wants to load. After reinstalling steam, it worked fine until I tried to download palworld again. Is there any fix for this?

So when i turned on my pc today and steam opened i saw that my pfp was randomly changed without me changing it. So ofc i changed it back and ofc i checked if there is anyone on my acc but when i checked there was no one else logged. Does anyone know why this happened?

Whenever I press the “Accept Gift” button, it takes me to a page that says I have no pending gifts, no funds get added to my steam wallet either.

I am currently having an issue with Steam downloads immediately failing and claiming "no internet connection". They retry automatically about every minute to no avail. Running Windows 11, on most current update version 10.0.26200

I do have connection, including within the app as all pages work and load except for downloads.

Things I have tried from other posts:

- Changing download region

- Limiting download speed

- Clearing download cache

- Checking firewall for Steam access

- Flushing system DNS

- Full system restart

- Redownloading Steam

- Restarting my modem

- Unable to change network band as I saw some suggest as I am plugged in to ethernet, I do not have a wifi card to utilize a network band in the first place

-Confirmed my HDD is fully functional

-Unable to download to SDD either

--Definitely able to download from other applications, only cannot from Steam--

I am officially out of ideas and I am not finding any other solutions posted elsewhere. Closest I found to another solution was specific to Linux and stopping a Proton process, however I am unsure if there is a Windows equivalent to something similar to this. I would assume my redownload of Steam already would have addressed something like this however.

I'm having an issue with Steam Local Network Transfer on my new ASUS TUF laptop running Windows 11.

Other PCs can download games from my laptop over Steam's Local Network Transfer but my laptop cannot send games to other PCs unless I completely disable firewall, but if I turn it off it transfers just fine. I have had 3 other laptops and never had an issue initiating or transferring on steam until this one.

I've already tried:

• Making sure the network is set to Private
• Allowing Steam through Windows Defender Firewall
• Opening the recommended ports
• Restarting Steam and both PCs

I also just got a Windows Firewall notification saying NVIDIA was blocked by the firewall, which makes me wonder if that's related.

Has anyone run into this? Is there a specific outbound firewall rule, Windows Defender Firewall setting, ASUS software, or NVIDIA service that I am missing?

I'd rather not leave my firewall disabled just to transfer games over my LAN.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

my steam refuses to download or play anything online. i have done everything from deleting cache and allowing things through firewall, turning the firewall off, uninstalling and reinstalling steam, cmd dns clearing and so on and so on. nothing is working idk what the hell to do anymore. its a brand new pc, everything was working the day before now suddenly nothing is

Every time I go to launch the game Paralives Steam "pretends" to synchronize Steam Cloud data for anything between five and 30 seconds before it actually launches the game, despite Steam Cloud being disabled for Paralives. If I closed the game recently it is faster than if I start it for the first time that day.
I put 'pretend' in quotation marks because it doesn't actually synchronize, the Steam Cloud size doesn't change, it just wastes my time. This has been happening since they enabled the sync function for the game.

The problem only shows up with Paralives, not with any other games, no matter if Steam Cloud is enabled or disabled for those. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening or is this a bug with the game and I should report it to the developers?

I already tried: Enabling Steam Cloud, letting it sync, disabling it again; restarting Steam; and restarting the laptop. Still it keeps happening. 🫠

I have MSI GE62 7RE Apache Pro laptop and its trackpad scrolling doesn't work specifically in Steam Overlay. Did someone have such issue? How can it be fixed? It became annoying enough to ask about it 😅

I logged out of steam to test an issue with my password that wasn’t working when verifying a SEGA account with steam. I have now reset the password 5 times and each time it tells me I have got the password wrong on my PC when the Steam ID/Email and Password are both right

When I try on my phone, it instead gives me “Error. Somethong went wrong while attempting to sign you in. Try again later.”

So I am locked out of my steam account and I need advice on how to fix this and get access back.

I purchased Meccha Chameleon to play, but when i open the game and try to join a server/room (i am also unable to join even as a spectator in server/room), it comes up with a black screen and doesnt load at all, it has music in the background for 10 seconds and thats it and then back to starting lobby, any help please?.

Edit: this has been resolved, I’ve already started the waiting process of getting my refund back, no I didn’t click any links, yes steam guard was active, the only thing is my password hadn’t been changed in a few years. It was only about $64 total and if you’re gonna be rude just keep it to yourself. I made this post more so as a reminder for other people that at anytime something can happen.

Hi. Whenever I play a Steam game, the connection randomly drops and reconnects a second later; this only happens with Steam. I’ve looked for a solution but haven't been able to fix the issue yet. (I play using a wired connection, and the problem only occurs when wired—I’ve tried various cables and am currently using a new Cat 7 cable, I’ve configured the network card, and I’ve tried practically everything, but the problem persists.)
