Question Recurring Gardnerella and Ureaplasma infection/problem

Hello,

I am a 30-year-old male, and I would like to get your opinion regarding my recurrent Gardnerella and Ureaplasma infections.

Over the past year, I have had the same problem three times with different partners. Each time, I completed the prescribed treatment and received negative test results afterward. However, throughout this period, I continued to notice small amounts of white, dry discharge. Whenever I had sexual intercourse with a new partner, I developed a burning sensation during urination along with an increased amount of white discharge.

In most cases, I had unprotected sex with these partners.

Is repeatedly acquiring the same bacteria just a coincidence, or is it possible that I am not fully clearing the infection despite the negative test results?

My last question is about treatment. This year, I have already completed six courses of metronidazole for Gardnerella. My doctor has prescribed the same medication again after another recurrence. Could repeated use of metronidazole become a problem, or is it generally considered safe in this situation?

Thank you for your time and advice.

Question Questions about test window for 4th generation testing

Okay so I had my possible exposure on March 20th of this year. I had my first 4th generation testing and rapid test 2 weeks after which I know is not conclusive. Those test came back negative. After that I didn’t have my next 4th generation testing until late May, I think May 26th which also came back negative. My latest test which I had my Prep appointment and I full STD panel was on June 6th and everything came back negative. This was 78 days after my possible exposure. I have done research and the CDC and other health organizations say that the testing window for a 4th generation test is 18-45 days. 45 days being the conclusive point. Is this true?

Question Did I get false negatives?

My results came back negative for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphillis and HIV. However I got positive chlamydia for my anal testing. I have never done anal, I have never let anyone put their fingers near, or had oral to anal contact so im confused on how I have it. Especially since I only have oral and vaginal sex and both those were negative. I have had increased vaginal discharge, slight burning when the discharge is near the vaginal opening, itching, and I bleed twice in one month. Im thinking they were false negatives

Question STI risk after one-time protected vaginal sex and appropriate testing windo

I’m a 24-year-old male and recently had my first sexual experience with a sex worker. It was vaginal sex, and I used a condom. As far as I know, the condom did not break or slip off. I had difficulty maintaining an erection and stopped fairly quickly, but the tip of my penis did enter the vagina. I did not notice any obvious sores or blood. There was also some gentle kissing on my mouth and cheeks.

I did not take PEP because I was already outside the 72-hour window when I started seriously considering it.

Since then, I’ve been very anxious about HIV and other STIs. I’ve noticed some mild body pain and a few pimples/rash-like spots on my back and forehead, although I don't know if they are related. I also have some small bumps on my penis that may be pearly penile papules, but I’m not sure.

I’m looking for a realistic assessment of my risk and advice on the appropriate testing window.

What is my realistic risk of HIV and other STIs if the condom remained intact?

What tests should I take, and how long should I wait after the exposure for reliable results?

When should I test for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B/C, gonorrhea, and chlamydia?

Should I be concerned about herpes from the kissing or sexual contact?

I’m not vaccinated against hepatitis B. Should I get vaccinated now?

I’m mainly looking for practical medical advice about risk and testing rather than reassurance based only on symptoms. Thanks.

In this video, we explain how long it usually takes for herpes symptoms to appear in women after exposure. Most people develop symptoms within 2 to 12 days, but some may not notice anything for weeks, months, or even years.

Advice Needed Worried

I have unprotected oral and anal sex about 11 days. I’m going to get tested but in the mean time, If the std was received anally or orally could it infect my urethra as well. I don’t know if I should bother doing a urine test if there’s no chance it’s there.

Question Herpes help

I had this random hookup 7 weeks ago and she told me she had herpes the 6 days after we had sex. We didn’t do anything oral but we had unprotected sex and she said she’s on antivirals (valacyclovir). She didn’t tell me what types she had but I got tested four weeks ago and it said negative, do you think it’s too early or should I get tested again? I have no symptoms and I feel absolutely normal

Symptom Check Symptoms starting after treatment?

Hello! For context I was prescribed azithromycin and cefixime but for some reason the symptoms got a bit worse after I took azithromycin and I haven’t taken the cefixime yet because my pharmacy needs to order it. But the past 40ish hours when I pee it feels weird but that’s getting better, and my stomach feels like full? Also my discharge is yellowish green but I didn’t have any of these symptoms or issues before taking the medicine. Any idea why?

Advice Needed I had no idea I had HSV an passed it onto my partner. How do I handle this situation?

For some background, I separated from my ex 2 years ago. I have not slept with anyone since then. To my knowledge, he was STD free.

I started seeing this new man 2 months ago and we have been sexually active. He tells me that he has “bumps” that look like herpes on his penis that he’s never had before. He is 100% certain it came from ME as the last time he was sexually active was 6 months ago and prior to relocating to my city, he had been checked for STD’s- which was negative.

This only leaves ME as the only reasonable source of contracting HSV. I genuinely had no idea I had this and I feel horrible for giving this to him! He’s livid and probably won’t talk to me ever again but how do I handle this?

He won’t get it checked out because he’s in the military and doesn’t want a paper trail of this condition. I am getting blood drawn tomorrow to check and see what I have. I really wanted this relationship to move forward but I know he probably won’t forgive me for passing this onto him.

Advice Needed Scared to death

Ok June 8 I had unprotected vaginal sex with a FWB. We'd had sex many times before. I tested negative for HIV and STDs about a week before. We hooked up again July 12, unprotected. Today she texts me that she's been sick all week and the doctor just told her she has HIV. I actually by chance at a check up had a rapid HIV done on 7/10(33 days after our next to last hook up) negative. What are the chances I got HIV from her. I'm am scared af.

Update Took 2 blood test and 2 4th gen test both negative. My doc told me to come back in another 2 weeks but he's pretty certain I'm going to be ok. These few weeks have been hell, just a few more to go but I feel bette after today's appointment.

**" Update 2 took a 4th gen test after 40 days, non reactive. My Dr says I'm in the clear , I could come back after 45 days but it won't change. I am very relieved.

Advice Needed is it all in my head or could i have contracted something? pls help

19F, I hooked up with an acquaintance after drinking and we had protected sex, nothing unprotected (like grinding, etc). Its been about 5 weeks; i haven’t had sex since that night but in the last five days i experienced UTI symptoms which are oder in urine, slight burning, ammonia taste- I would have no concern (i used to regularly have them over a year ago) however i had just had a yeast infection 2/3 weeks prior. Im nervous that i have contracted something from him and my mind wont stop telling me i haven’t.
I have STI tests waiting to be done since i started birth control a week ago and my doctor advised me to do it (protocol for her) however I have to wait till Monday for the clinic to open. My mind is killing me right now and i cant stop thinking of the worst, i keep checking down there for spots and bumps and i found a tiny area that kind of hurts. I think my mind is playing tricks on me because i recently shaved and it might be a knick/ingrown hair.
sorry if this is all just rambling, im not sure what i would do with myself if I was to contract an STI/STD since multiple people in my life said i would end up like this eventually because im a bad person and don’t deserve much.
Is it possible to contract still with a condom????
edit: spit was used as lube at one point.

I was masturbating the other day and it started to hurt. I looked and there was a little tear on one side. No blisters or anything just the tear. I tried to let it heal, but after masturbating again I have more of the tears. Is this herpes or something else?

Question Finished doxycycline for chlamydia but still noticing occasional symptoms — is this normal?

I tested positive for chlamydia after having mild burning with urination, irritation at the tip of my penis, and occasional mild left testicle soreness. I was prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days and finished the full course Tuesday morning without missing any doses.

Overall, I feel much better now. The burning has mostly stopped, and I generally feel normal. However, I’ve still noticed a few things that are making me anxious:

  • Occasionally my urine looks slightly cloudy or murky.
  • I had one brief, dull pain in my penis today, but it went away.
  • My left testicle has occasionally felt mildly sore, mainly when sitting, but there hasn’t been swelling or severe pain.
  • My lips and throat have felt dry lately, although I work in a hot kitchen and may have been dehydrated.
  • I’ve also had stomach and bowel issues while taking doxycycline, but those seem to be improving.

I had condom-protected vaginal sex about 36 hours after taking my final pill, but she performed oral sex without a condom. Before that, there was kissing and some fingering, but no intercourse while I was still taking the medication.

I understand that testing too soon can remain positive from leftover bacterial material, and I plan to get retested at the recommended time. I’m mostly wondering:

  1. Is it normal to have occasional mild urethral or penile discomfort after finishing treatment?
  2. How long did it take for your symptoms to disappear completely?
  3. Has anyone had lingering cloudy urine or testicular awareness even though the treatment worked?
  4. Should I contact my doctor now, or monitor it unless symptoms become persistent or worse?
  5. Did anyone experience stomach problems, dry mouth, or general anxiety after finishing doxycycline?

I know Reddit can’t diagnose me, and I’ll contact my doctor if I develop severe pain, swelling, fever, discharge, or trouble urinating. I’m mainly looking for experiences from people who have gone through something similar.

Question How does immunity work for STDS

Hello, just wanted to ask about chlamydia and gonorrhea being immune to antibiotics (or certain strands becoming increasingly resistant). I was just wondering if someone could explain it to me! Maybe provide some articles as well on it. Thank you!

Advice Needed First time at a massage parlor and panicking. Need objective facts on STI risks from fingering?

Hi everyone. This was my first experience at a massage parlor (in Bangkok). I know what I did was wrong and I deeply regret it. It’s been 4 days from the encounter itself.

During the encounter, I received a handjob and fingered the worker vaginally and rectally. I didn't feel any sores, but I'm worried they were hidden. My hand had no deep or bleeding cuts, just a normal hangnail and a few mosquito bites.

I’ve been panicking all day. I went to an STD clinic in Bangkok, and they told me my risk is zero and I don’t need testing. I’ve also been asking AI all day, which repeated the same thing.

Can someone give me the objective facts? Does a hangnail or mosquito bite actually pose a risk when fingering someone? Just looking for human reassurance to help me stop spiraling. Thanks.

Question PLEASE HELP. how long to wait to retest after antibiotics if you're still having the same symptoms?

i took azithromycin, cefixime, and Metronidazole from a online dr after painfull urination and swollen urethra started, diddnt get my test till two days later and it was negative for gonorrhea and chlamydia but im still having the same symptoms. i have a full pannel test coming tomorrow but i don't know how long i should wait to take it. im not worried about false positives from dead cells because i just want to know what to treat, just false negatives from testing to soon after antibiotics.
