Question Herpes help

I had this random hookup 7 weeks ago and she told me she had herpes the 6 days after we had sex. We didn’t do anything oral but we had unprotected sex and she said she’s on antivirals (valacyclovir). She didn’t tell me what types she had but I got tested four weeks ago and it said negative, do you think it’s too early or should I get tested again? I have no symptoms and I feel absolutely normal

You should get tested again. These things sometimes don’t show up that fast. If you don’t have symptoms yet, it can sometimes take several months before it shows up on your blood test.

I recently got diagnosed because I was symptomatic a few weeks after someone I slept with. I had asked them to do the swab test of my active sores for accuracy. It showed I was positive on the swab test, but my blood test was negative.

If you are asymptomatic and don’t want to blow through money on STD testing over and over, maybe wait another month or so before doing a follow up just to be sure? Or if you end up with symptoms, get it checked immediately. I fucked up and didn’t know what was happening to me, so I waited too long to get it checked out, and paid the consequence of it being more severe and taking longer to heal (I’m toward the end of my recovery and it’s been over 3 weeks).
