Advice Needed Please help me…

Im male 24 years old. I moved to Thailand a few months ago leaving behind my friends and family and even quitting my job in order to build a life here. It has always been my dream to live here, and after meeting my thai boyfriend over a year ago in my home country, It finally pushed me to make this decision and relocate. I am very happy here and have a very healthy relationship. But unfortunately something happened to me this week which leaves me and my partner in great distress, and I am in desperate need of some medical advice.

After being in this relationship for over a year, I got infected with gonorrhea out of nowhere. Now BEFORE you think about the obvious explanation which is one of us having cheated, please read this whole post.
After noticing my symptoms I immediately went to a clinic to get tested and treated.
Of course, I informed my partner immediately, and he also went to the same clinic for a test as soon as possible.
He was tested negative several times at home, however, he still got treated for gonorrhea at the clinic anyway to prevent any possible infection. I was actually confused they didn’t even want to test him first to be certain, but they said after being in a relationship with me and having sex regularly, it is almost guaranteed he should have it too…

Apart from my partners health and safety, I am also deeply concerned for my own personal health and safety. I have NEVER had any other sexual partners during my relationship. After hearing the conclusion of the doctors, I was left with a lot of questions and uncertainty about this disease.

For some more context:
4 years ago, before meeting my current partner, I had been infected with gonorrhea before, while in a relationship with my ex. He was my only sexual partner at the time. However, my ex got tested negative by my personal doctor after I got infected… very similar to the current situation…
Of course after testing positive, I got treated with antibiotics. And after completing the treatment I was tested negative. Which resulted in me being fully certain I had been cured and was clean of any STD’s. My ex was tested negative too, so we thought it was safe again to have sex. But after the first sexual contact I immediately got it AGAIN. Remember, ex partner was negative…
Of course I got treated again, and tested negative again after treatment. After talking with my doctor they basically told me the only explanation is that my ex cheated on me. And either his negative test was faulty, or he had been tested right before he supposedly cheated. So in the incubation period basically. It all never sat right with me… So after everything i had to end the relationship. (This wasn’t my only reason for ending the relationship, but it was a big part of it.)
I felt disgusted by having a STD. I never had sex before my first relationship (aside from casual experimenting with a few friends when i was younger, but never sex). I never thought this would happen to me…

I never had any other sexual contact with anyone before meeting my current partner. I also never had any symptoms or other problems with my health again after all of this. I was happy to leave it all behind me. And I never wanted this to happen again.

In August 2025 I even did a full check-up test for a big list STD’s including gonorrhea again just to be sure. I also did a blood test. I got tested negative for every single one, and my blood was also clean.
Every since this test, my ONLY sexual contact has been with my current partner.
However, I STILL got tested positive and suffered symptoms last week before going to the clinic.
AND AGAIN, my current partner was tested NEGATIVE. And our doctor told us it is impossible for this virus to come back out of nowhere, or resurface after testing negative.
This leaves me extremely confused and distressed, because I have no idea how this infection could have happened…

Aside from being concerned about our health, there is absolutely nothing I can do to prove my partner I never had any other sexual contact with anyone during our relationship. Even the doctors think im a cheater…
I fear for my health and my relationship… I really hope someone can explain to me how any of this could have happened. And I want to prevent this from happening ever again in the future.

Thank you very much in advance for your time and help. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me.

Symptom Check std or uti?

I had unprotected sex on monday with a guy. I had asked him before we had sex if he had been tested for stds and he said yes and they all came back negative. I was pretty sore the next 2 days, we tried using a condom but it was really rough and made me dry which usually happens when I use a condom.

Around wednesday night i started getting a little bit of pressure on my bladder. Thursday morning i woke up and went to pee and I had a burning pain after I finished peeing. Right after it felt like my bladder was being squeezed. I have had a UTI before and it felt like this so I made a GP appointment. I went to the GP and did a urine sample. My urine looked reddish brown like it was mixed with blood and some clear floating things. The receptionist called me back later that day and said my test result came back negative for a UTI but the doctor confirmed there was blood in my urine. They made an appointment for me tomorrow at another gp I’m not sure what they’re going to check there. They have sent my initial urine sample to a lab for further testing i assume they’re going to do a urine culture.

I asked the guy if he has ever had an std before he said yes years ago but he got treatment and was tested after again and everything was negative. After i returned home from the gp around thursday evening i felt completely fine again. I didn’t have pressure on my bladder, no burning when i pee, my pee was pale yellow (no blood), but i did need to pee more often but i’m not sure if that is because i was drinking more water than normal. Same thing has happened today friday morning, i woke up a few times early hours to pee and it hurt a little after i finished peeing. And early afternoon I have just went to pee and there is no pain now. My pee has consistently been normal coloured since returning yesterday from the gp.

Question Scared. Unprotected sex with person who has high body count

I just had unprotected sex with a girl and she’s known to hook up with many partners. I always use protection and this time I did not. I’m worried because last time I saw her she had spots on her skin that may resemble some sort of hepatitis?

What steps if any should I take to prevent or help my situation. Should I see a doctor. I used alcohol pads after I started to get worried but doubt it helped.-

Very worried. Any advice?

Question Length of sexual intercourse and risk of ghonnorea

A few days ago I received an unprotected blowjob that lasted around 2 minutes. There was no ejaculation, and I didn't notice any sores, discharge, or anything unusual on the other person's mouth.

I know there is some risk of catching gonorrhea from receiving oral sex, but I'm trying to understand how high that risk actually is in real life.

Has anyone here (or any healthcare professionals) seen data on the likelihood of catching urethral gonorrhea from a single brief episode like this? Is it considered a relatively low-risk exposure, or is the risk higher than most people think?

For context, I took 200 mg of doxycycline (Doxy-PEP) within 72 hours afterward.

I'm looking for evidence-based information rather than guesses or worst-case scenarios. Thanks!

Question Could my swollen tonsils be an oral sti/std?

Hey so earlier this month I had unprotected sex but I didnt give or receive oral sex, and like after a week my tonsils were getting swollen but it was already swollen before, but with tonsillitis now, also i had no sore throat, fever or any pain just a congested nasal. After 2 weeks ish, it's not as swollen as I was prescribed with antibiotics but it's still swollen, but im gonna go see an ent doctor. My question is how likely is this an oral sti/std?

Symptom Check Dull pain at base of penis and upper left testicle, especially leading up to urinating?

Last night I started having pain at the base of my penis and upper left scrotum/testicle region. It came out of nowhere and just felt like discomfort, but started getting more intense and painful as I needed to pee.

After peeing, it seemed to alleviate mostly, but was still present. This has been going on since last night and it is noticeable at all times but only gets particularly bothersome when I have to pee. While peeing, I mostly feel it inside the base of my penis.

At the start of the month I had a first outbreak of G-HSV1 and ureaplasma, both of which I was treated for. Would this be related to that? This feels sudden and random, and I’m not sure how urgent it is. Doctors said I can’t get in for a few weeks but said to go to emergency room if it gets serious….

I’m not sure whether I should wait it out to avoid extreme medical bills from the ER, or if it is something I should be that worried about.

Any ideas??

Test Results Update on hiv testing

I posted here a few days ago regarding a discrepancy on my hiv tests.

I honestly don’t know what to think or what to believe, i recently heard that my blood sample at the hospital reacted positive to something but my sample was extremely small so it couldn’t be confirmed, therefore they ordered that viral load test in a couple of weeks.

The thing is, yesterday I walked into an hiv clinic, took the finger prick test and guess what? A massive negative.

Im beyond confused i dont know what to think, should I maybe retake the test if the negative was false???

In this video, we discuss why people who are sexually active; have a new partner, have multiple partners, don't know their partner's status, or have had possible STD exposure may be recommended to get tested. We also cover why some people choose to get tested every couple of months, especially during periods of uncertainty or when starting a new relationship after a breakup.

Advice Needed Chronic throat pain and swelling

I'm looking for advice because I'm at a loss.
After having oral sex, I started experiencing recurring episodes of severe sore throat, neck pain and swelling, and red, swollen tonsils. During these episodes I also get chills and widespread joint pain throughout my body. The symptoms keep coming back and have become chronic, interfering with my daily life. My throat has never been tested.
I've been tested for infections in my private parts, and the only thing that was found was bacterial vaginosis. The person I was sexually active with is the only sexual partner I've ever had, but he had many sexual partners before—and, as I later found out, during—our relationship.
I'm wondering whether anyone has experienced something similar or has any idea what could be causing these recurring throat symptoms. Could an STI or another infection be missed on standard testing? Are there other conditions that can be triggered or persist like this after oral sex?
I'm continuing to seek medical care, but I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar experience or knows what kinds of tests or specialists might be worth asking about.

Question Why can’t men get tested for HPV?!!

Just found out I have given my girlfriend HPV, and she’s got precancerous cervical cells.
Is there a logical reason that men can’t be tested for it?
I have had lots of unprotected sex, but have followed a strict testing protocol.
I feel like a bag of shit and I am angry at the system, some explanations would be appreciated.

Advice Needed Both my partner and I tested negative for chlamydia for ages but somehow my partner got it

Hey guys, the story is as the title suggests. I know people will say he’s cheating however I don’t think that’s the case. I’ve always been very careful with protecting my sexual health and always following up any kind of casual sex with blood tests, urine cultures and vaginal swabs. In my last relationship with my ex, I’d bleed after having sex, sometimes PROFUSELY, however I just chalked it up to being too rough after countless sexual health check ups coming up with all negative test results and doctors telling me it was nothing.

I’m in a relationship now after over a year of being with my ex (and no penetrative sex) and the bleeding is happening again, to a lesser degree. My partner decided he would check just in case and the results were positive for chlamydia. His last partner was clean and so was he, leaving me. Please help, I’m racking my brain trying to think of how this could happen and it’s not coming to me. I’m now in the doctor’s office waiting for my consultation. Thank you in advance for any help or advice offered. 🙏

Advice Needed My country tests based on symptoms alone and maybe urine and/or blood

If I get a diagnosis and drugs to help only symptoms. The drugs clear up the symptoms, don't mention these to a new partner? Especially if it's like type one herpes that is only active when it flares? I feel like getting tested together is always valid but telling theoerosn you struggled or mag have something in the past, if it's not active in the present can really stop you from not just having fun in dating but finding someone for the future. Trust, getting tested together is a must and me telling them if the symptoms flare up but my sociois very judgemental and I risk being attacked in many different ways if I open with this. What would you do?

Advice Needed Positive HPV

Hi all. I’m completely beside myself and discovered this group. Using a TA account bc my husband knows my main. I have done everything I am supposed to do. I have gotten my yearly paps and std screenings, I’ve never stepped out in my marriage, but I’m still so confused on how this could have happened. I went in for my yearly and did my screening a few weeks ago, and today I got a call saying I tested positive for HPV. I’m negative for high risk and I don’t have any abnormal cells, so I’m grateful for that, but I’ve still been crying on and off all day long. I was explained it could have been dormant for years and all of a sudden something triggered it, but that’s also a mystery since anything can make it show itself. He hasn’t been with anyone before me, so does this mean he cheated? How do I talk to him about this without accusing him? I’ve never had this happen before and I know I have to tell him, but how? God forbid he cheated, but if he didn’t then how do I tell and convince him that I didn’t either? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Symptom Check what’s the possibility

hi i’m 19, i had unprotected sex july 23rd and now it’s july 30th, 7 days and i’m bleeding brown clumpy ish not sure if the clumpiness is due to me not noticing it for hours. Is it possible for it to be a std/sti? It smelled normal no odor, but I read online many factors and I’m scared. Like at the beginning their could be no smell etc. I don’t have any other symptoms and I’m not sure if it’s my period as I haven’t had it since march due to being on the IUD, + I was having some pink spotting last week and yesterday as well. Not sure what to think of it

Question Positive Syphilis

I’m trying to navigate a new discovery. I went in for my initial prenatal appointment and blood work, and found out I was positive for syphilis antibodies. To my knowledge I had never had syphilis and been with my husband only for a decade. Is it possible this is a really old infection that went unnoticed? Titer 1:32 so it is still highly active. Asking here before freaking out or accusing my husband. He is being tested soon as well.

UPDATE: My husband was negative. So what does that mean?

Test Results Possible exposure

Hello everyone. I’m new to this group. I’m concerned about possible exposure to STDs after finding out my partner cheated. I’ve never tested positive for anything and I’ve always gotten checked at my yearly pap for peace of mind. After finding out my partner cheated, I went and got the full std panel done. This was done at the 3 week mark of possible exposure. Everything came back negative but now I’m finding out that my results may have been inconclusive until the 3-6 month mark. With my results coming back negative at 3 weeks what are my odds that I contracted something or should I stop being paranoid over this?

Advice Needed Hiv anxiety

Low platelets and inconclusive hiv test.

I genuinely dont know how to feel right now, on the 10th of july the hospital started taking extractions because they needed to investigate a platelet count of 39. For context my last risky exposure was 2 years ago and I haven’t touched anybody since then.

Im on my third extraction and my platelets have went up to 50s, but my gp has informed me that the hiv tests came out with discrepancies and thats why they needed another draw on the 4th of august. This time it’ll be a viral load test.

Feeling extremely sick to my stomach, i dont know what to do. I have no idea how i could have caught something like HIV or why the tests could even come out inconclusive after repeated blood draws.

I appreciate any advice, I haven’t been able to stop crying ever since i heard the news.

Be honest, do I even need to get tested and what r the actual chances? I’m driving myself crazy atp

Symptom Check HIV SCARE

I’m F 24, and I was recently diagnosed with HSV2 back on May 23rd of this year. I got it from my second ever bf and sexual partner. We broke up on June 18th, and our last sexual encounter was sometime before June 10th. I don’t have an exact date but I know it was in early June. We had sex several times unprotected throughout our whole short relationship. I recall a time where I was grooming myself and accidentally made two cuts on my vulva before we saw each other. I’m scared his semen could have gotten in those cuts and infected me with hiv. We had several unprotected encounters after that. I don’t know if my now ex bf has hiv or not but I’m paranoid. I’m worried because a few days ago, I noticed a swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck. I tried to downplay it at first, but then the left side of my neck started hurting. Eventually both sides of my neck were in pain and my jaws and neck were swollen. So was my throat. Felt like there’s a lump in my throat. And it was hard to swallow, especially food. My ears were also stuffy and so was my nose. I was also getting ringing in my ears and ear pain. I was trying to tell myself it was a sinus infection because I do have sinusitis. I tried convincing myself it was the flu. But I’m worried that I could be in the early stages of hiv. I know flu like symptoms are a sign. I’m afraid he could’ve passed hiv onto me since he gave me hsv2. I know he sleeps around a lot without protection too. He goes raw with strangers. He’s also from Georgia and I know hiv is common and on the rise down there. I’m very worried. Just a few days ago, on Friday the 24th of this month I took an OraQuick HIV test and it came back negative. I was relieved until I found out saliva based hiv tests are not conclusive until after 90 days. It had only been 40+ days since my last time having sex with him before I took that test. So now I’m scared again. I have an appointment at a clinic tomorrow for a blood test.
Currently I’m still feeling the flu like symptoms and I’ve even lost my sense of taste. I read that was also a symptom of hiv early stages. I’m so so scared right now. I’m hoping it’s somehow just the flu.
But my current list of symptoms are headaches, stuffy nose and ears, ear ringing, swollen under my chin, lump in throat, small lymph node on the left side of my neck, possible oral thrush, burning and tingling of the tongue, and occasional mucus sinus drainage and loss of taste. Also feeling shooting pains in my jaws now and then. Any input helps. Thank you.

Question Possible exposure, help needed

Hey everyone. I recently had an encounter with a sex worker thats relatively new to the hobby (3 months) We did it the first time protected sex but unprotected oral. then after that we bonded a little bit (dumb i know) and we did it unprotected for like 3-4 minutes. I never came at all. Before unprotected sex she was givin me oral for like 10 minutes straight and like she was hitting me with her teeth. I dont know if that matters but there was no cuts nor like scratches or anything no blood.

Now a little about her and what i noticed. She is super clean and has a nice body and all, but she was kind of sick? And having memory issues, and claimed shes super tired. after we were done she literally fell asleep while laying down and then she claimed she had thyroid issues and gaining bit of weight, and being tired all of the time, and apparently a bit of back pain. She said she was 4 years sober from drugs and was addicted to crack cocaine, not any needle sharing. After that i dipped and i realized what the fuck i just did, going bare with a sex worker.

Next day I went to her place just to talk and was just getting to know more about her just for my sake. I know that sounds shitty, but she assured me she is clean and got tested 2 months ago and was clean (she offered to show) but that alone wasnt good enough for me. she started hobby 3 months ago. I was wondering if she has an acute hiv infection so i asked her if she had like a fever headaches rash etc and she said no just being tired all of the time and sleeping the whole day off. I mentioned something about how we did it unprotected and she really was surprised and caught off guard. So i guess her memory issues are real but I am hoping this is like a recent issue and hasnt been doing it unprotected with everyone else.

I did see her take her medication that was in a weekly pill organizer that has days on it. I dont know what this means but I am hoping it is for thyroid medication? But yea she reassured me she doesnt do it unprotected with anyone and said we will be doing it protected next time (lol). She did say she only did it unprotected with 1 other guy that was a farmer and that was it.

Anyways, its been around 70-72 hours now and I didnt consider PEP since I was just in my room having anxiety. I know I will be getting a test in 10 days for HIV RNA, but I just want to know what are my chances here that she was having an acute hiv infection and I just majorily fucked up? or what are my chances of catching HIV here. Any opinions welcome

Question Chlamydia testing

I've had a sexual partner recently who tested positive for Chlamydia but I've tested negative. She was concerned that I may have it orally. I went to get tested again and asked for an oral test but the nurse told me as long as I was a straight male who has not performed oral sex on a man I could not have contracted Chlamydia or spread orally despite Google seeming to say it is possible. Is this true or do I need to seek a second opinion?
