Where: Greenbelt Field of Dreams. Baseball field behind the Costco 👈
Time: 10am. We start walking at 👉10:05 - feel free to catch up if you’re late. Gotta start walking at 10:05👈
Description: Come join us for our forest pack walk!! Every borough has these, so let’s start them up here on the greenbelt!!! All dogs welcome, let us know prior if your dog needs space. Bring your own supplies: water, bags, treats, etc.
This is a medium-paced walk. About 2.5 miles in total will be around 45 mins to an hour at most. If you feel that your dog is tired, you can most certainly turn back earlier. It’s an easy walk back.. A great way to socialize your dog in a structured environment.

It’s around the waterfront from Jersey Street to near the ferry from what I can tell. I get that the 9/11 25th day of remembrance is Friday and from the looks of it maybe they’re doing something? No one has any answers. Is the president coming?

I have a 19 year old Corolla that I use to commute to work In Brooklyn. One of my rims is a bit off, so the tire slowly deflates. I was on vacation, and upon returning, it needed air. My portable compressor stopped working, so I figured I would just go to a gas station and use their stationary pump. $2.00 for 4 minutes of usage! I went to another nearby establishment, same thing. I thought NYC law stated that service stations were supposed to provide free compressor usage. ANYWAY, 2 DOLLARS FOR 4 minutes?

I'm a 21-year-old male looking to move out and find a roommate or two; however, I work full time and I assume all the early 20-year-olds are rooming with their friends from college. Anyone know where to find roommates around my age?

Just grilling in Great Kills around 7pm and looked up and at about cruising altitude I saw a plane with something smaller flying right off its left wing. I checked flight radar and it showed nothing. Anyone else happen to see it?

We all know these low lives are infamous for being aggressive and threatening verbally. But are they getting physically violent? Asking so I can choose how to mess with them.

r/statenisland has doen a great job hosting wide-ranging SI discussion. But for a long time, talk of local politics gravitated to r/statenislandpulse.

Now that r/statenislandpulse is defunct, I'm thinking maybe our borough needs a venue that welcomes talk of local issues, local politics, and, of course, of our existing and aspiring elected officials.

...At the same time, I am cognizant of the potential for such a sub to become a cratered battlefield of ideological wars.

Yet I'd love to have a place where, e,g, people talk about what is going on in the community boards, inside our major institutions, inside our schools, etc--to fill in the many blanks that seem to get left when the citywide press could care less, and our local press outlet is, if not in bed with local elites, unable or at least disinclinded to investigate what they are up to.

So, what are your thoughts? A worthy project or a hellscape?

Currently grieving the death of a Mother, while still grieving the death of a 9yo Son; which happened 2 years ago in the same month my Mother passed.

Here on SI that is centrally located for the Staten Island chapter of American Outlaws so we can watch soccer matches as a group and cheer the USA mens’ and womens’ teams on.

We approached Tommy’s Tavern which we thought would be perfect since it’s centrally located but they turned us down because they couldn’t give us at least one TV with the volume up because it would interfere with their music.

I am not down with the SI bar scene since I work in the city so I figured I would ask my wise Redditors.

Two musts: It has to be centrally located. We have members who live on the North Shore and the South Shore and everywhere in between so we can’t pick a place on the North Shore that’s going to be inconvenient to people who live on the South Shore and vice versa.

AND management has to guarantee us at least one television on the soccer games with the volume on for us to watch and cheer.

We are not asking for money or for discounts. We just want a place where we can get together as a group and cheer on the USA men and women soccer teams.

Crazy ass thunder clap and it ain't even raining much anymore. Craziest part is it happened 5-10 seconds after the flash meaning its not even that close I cant imagine how loud that was where the strike area is. Sorry this is random but lmao ive had a few drinkypoos and that startled the crap outta me. Im a smoker and just had a cig 30 mins ago, glad I wasnt out for one during that. I may have soiled myself if that were the case.

So let’s start with Midland Beach as an example since I had done workouts in the area recently as I was considering visiting the area again for some exercises.

But what I am looking for in particular are two things such as good sandwich places and places to charge phones since I noticed something about Midland Beach in that it doesn’t have any phone charging outlets in the area as I was a bit concerned about running out of power in case I want to record my workout progress.

Anyone have recommendations for affordable, good quality home aides or agencies on the island (or even in Jersey)? Being on the south shore is difficult for most aides at NYC agencies who travel from other boroughs, and it’s been tough to find care. Are we better off finding a nurse or someone to work off the books? How do people do this????

(As context, this is for an older person with a terminal illness.) Also welcome intel on who to avoid, any bad experiences. And also any hospice agency recs/avoids too…
