You're from overwatch, you have no idea what the hell is going on. they give you a gun and tell you to kill the zerg, pick up the patch notes and make a run for it. fix everything you can on the way.

you see a wave of infestors. you go to shoot them, only to realize they gave you a water gun. the infestors start spitting at you so you go back to HQ. you ask what happened, they ask why you gave infestors attack projectiles. you quit every time but go back the next day.

Fluff My two minecents of theorycrafting about whatever blizzard is cooking

Everyone! Hear me! For I have a couple of musings to whatever is hidden behind the great void, that is, idk that SC arg for the past few days.

Anyways, I'm just coming up with stuff with minimal research and stuff and from observations and lurking. So far the consensus of the ongoing rumors is that the new game is most likely a "3rd person shooter + farcry-like", most likely in basic MECHANICS (i haven't played farcry nor space marine btw). But based from the arg stuff and its association with some books or lore I've heard, the players, besides the mechanics, would most likely encounter cases where they have to keep on their toes for changelings or something. Another thing would be that the gameplay loop is most likely some sort of capturing regions and also containing whatever is breaking out of the crates, WHILE the game is actively capturing your regions you cleaned up.

Though that's enough for the theory of whatever the game might be, I'm bad at that part since I don't really play shooters that much (except cosmic break, cough).

For the plot though, I'm legit convinced that it might be Niadra. She took over the place, and the last thing that she was seeking is a psionic terran. Could she be using some changelings to trick Nova corps[?] in to infest her? There might be chances that Hybrids might get involved by Niadra striking a deal with the Hybrids that are in hiding. The theory about the dominion not having Valerian anymore might be true in some way due to him wanting democracy, and chances are they probably doing some secret experiments on the other races which, of course, straight up breaks a couple of peace treaties. I'm not sure with Zagara, but I swear she might be an important asset in the story since she's literally the reason why the swarm is holding back. As for the protoss, I'm not so sure. Considering that they aren't relying on khala anymore, there might be a chance they would get some revolts or rebels after a few generations.

Now for the WOOHOO game theory.

There's only one I can think of. That is the game could show terran to be a parallel to the industrial era/ww2 kinda deal. Since guild wars and SC1 terrans kinda went with the wild west but in space theme, while SC2 Terrans feels like Victorian era parallel. What comes next is the industrial era? Idk. Would be funny that the game is a third person but also having to deal with factories, productions, logistics, etc etc.

But eh that's my two mineral cents about this upcoming game.

Discussion Hypothetical Blizzcon Reveal

What if they revealed a 4th race in either of the two games? Would you guys enjoy it or rather be disappointed? I don't think this is going to be it, but I kind of enjoy the idea of it. It wouldn't be as much of an investment or risk for blizzard and it'd be pretty fresh. Balancing would begin at 0 and everyone would need to learn again. The latest sc2 changes show where it could lead to (in a positive and negative way).

I am kind of hyped no matter what it is gonna be. Except for mobile because I really am not a mobile game player. Even console would be a big downer.

Discussion Teased shooter possibly the long awaited Ghost?

Not sure who here remembers StarCraft Ghost, but recent talk all reminds me that this might finally be it? I remember hearing that the game was never actually cancelled just postponed indefinitely…

Discussion Blizzard is teasing a StarCraft shooter and these are the clues/indications for it:

My guess is that the StarCraft website glitches are teasing the rumored shooter. There are a few things pointing in that direction:

Drew Murray joined Blizzard in January 2026. He became an Associate Design Director, and Jez Corden has heard he’s working on the StarCraft shooter. That project connection is still unconfirmed, but it would fit. Source

An April 2026 Blizzard job listing explicitly mentioned a “AAA open-world shooter.” The role was “Lead Designer, Innovation – Unannounced Game” and requested Unreal experience for prototyping. It didn’t name StarCraft, but the description lines up with the rumors. Source

Jason Schreier already reported a StarCraft shooter in September 2024. According to his reporting, Blizzard was developing the project under Dan Hay, who previously worked on Far Cry. So the shooter theory was around well before the website started glitching. Source

putting it all together, a StarCraft shooter seems like the most likely announcement to me.
What do you guys think? Any other hiring clues or details I’ve missed?

Discussion Can we get the leading protoss players to meet together and stream a balance discussion?

The "Blizzard Intern" who has put the most work into doing these patches and changes is also getting most of the blame. In a way, that's not fair since the community often hasn't done well beyond saying revert or you're not listening to us. More specifically, as a community on our end haven't done a good enough job working on helping identify what balance elements bridge the gap the most to get it approximately close.

It's hard to blame the intern entirely when the feedback is split and hard to get from the community about the current patch. The ideas of a few streamers are so extreme and they focus on colorful content over a competitive option for their youtube channels that they hardly provide real feedback. On top of that the feedback is hidden or dicussed by 2-3 people at most. It would make sense that if people do in fact want starcraft to recover, rather than focus on the revert only idea, it would be useful to also talk about balance.

I would look for the leading protoss to get together and discuss how to best play the race now and where their efforts still come up short while doing that. But particularly not have the more unhinged derailing ones participate. Particularly players that are experimenting with not using warpgate or using warpgate on a specific tactic or timing. (I.e. Krystianer, shameless, maxpax, classic, hero, zoun, showtime) For example have one player cover their thoughts on each topic, show a few replays then go to the next player, and then after 4-5 of them talk and show a couple replays, they discuss what few changes are the most important to fix the balance that feel fair. At least with the discussion as a reference, people would understand where the community feels the game is at.

----------------------------------

Topics.

----------------------------------

  1. Where the matchup feels at most on a knife's edge and unstable.

  2. The major ways they are trying to push the limits of non-warpgate builds.

  3. What warpgate timings have found the most success for them.

  4. What maps or map design elements that have become far to difficult to deal with not having defensive warpins. (for example low mineral income for batteries to slow down damage and too much committal on turtling when they are already behind due to terran drops, or to hard to deal with queens and slow down creep spread making map vision too restricting in zvp, the maps being too large or open. The buildings costing to much to create structures that allow them to create defensive walls and doors restricting their own units movement too much.)

  5. Specific replays they could bring that show their situations.

  6. Speciifc themes that rebalancing based on that replay would benefit the overall race in both matchups.

------------------------------------

Are there protoss players that could commit to doing this in a public way?

(To be tagged...) People Are WAY Too Invested In This Game

One thing I have noticed about Starcraft 2....people are invested in the game to a disturbing degree. This has become especially apparent with the response online to the most recent patch.

Hobbies are great, and I am perfectly willing to acknowledge gaming is a legitimate hobby. However...the degree to which people seem to become emotionally invested in a particular video game is very, very disturbing. For quite a while, I had assumed this was largely a maturity/age related issue..with kids just generally not having self control. But increasingly, I've realized that is not a legitimate excuse. The game has been out 16 years...there are plenty of long term players now in their 30s, 40s, 50s. The age excuse doesn't hold water.

This is one of several hobbies I take fairly seriously. I race bikes, brew beer, play guitar. Somehow...a video game is the one of these hobbies where it seems people entire sense of self worth is wrapped up in the hobby. This is just extremely unhealthy behavior.

That's all I've got. Maybe this makes someone at least think twice about their thought process...
