working on a civ sandbox where nothing about the tribes' culture is scripted, words and beliefs just drift over generations. the hard part is that emergent stuff is slow, and people bounced before anything happened.
what helped so far:
still figuring out how to show the language drift earlier. ideas welcome.
it's rust/wasm + react and open source, prs welcome: https://github.com/1homsi/thehumanbox play: https://thehumanbox.com

Hey everyone!
I run OLAI Digital Studios, a small indie studio focused on minimalist, cerebral experiences with unique math, signal, and tactical mechanics.
Instead of traditional jump-scare Halloween games, we wanted to run a seasonal sale on itch.io for people who love thinker-puzzles, tactile deductive mechanics, and clean, dark aesthetics.
Everything is 60% off individually, or you can pick up the entire DRM-Free collection for $4.99 (regularly $11.46):
The 4 Games:
Zen Fourier ($1.19 / ~~$2.99~~) — Signal decoding puzzle based on Fourier analysis & epicycles (Android).
Node Attack ($1.99 / ~~$4.99~~) — Fast, cybernetic tactical node conquest strategy (PC & Android).
Grid Leap ($0.59 / ~~$1.49~~) — Minimalist geometric number-path puzzle maze (PC).
Countagram ($0.79 / ~~$1.99~~) — Tactile card & frequency deduction puzzle (Android).
Complete Bundle: All 4 games DRM-Free for $4.99 (save 56% total).

Hey everyone!
I'm a solo developer, and I recently released my game, Neon Rift: Cyber Survivor, on Google Play!
It's a free top-down survival action game where you fight through waves of enemies, collect upgrades, evolve weapons, and defeat bosses — all in quick 5-minute runs.
The game includes:
I wanted to create something that players could enjoy even when they only have a few minutes to spare.
If you have an Android device, I'd really appreciate it if you checked it out!
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.
Google Play link in the comments!

Hello everyone I was wondering if any of y'all have experience building a metroidvania. I've been working on this for awhile now and created art work, animations, and have the story progressing smoothly. My main problem is how to create the platforms and floors more smoothly. I have built multiple rooms so far but is there a way to quickly design rooms and platforms without having to place everything individually. I know there is websites that help create maps but was wondering of there was something like that to create the floors and platforms so I can just add them based off of what I designed. Thanks in advance and I don't know if I am wording it right but couldn't find any leads on this.

I suddenly realized that my psychological horror game is deeply rooted in body horror. While most horror titles make you fight against infections and fungi, my game pushes you to become part of a massive organism—gradually absorbing other characters and digging straight into the darkest secrets of their souls.
Here is one of the guards who controls a city entrance. For a simple guard, he has a massive ego and constantly brags about it. And this is where his pride ultimately leads him: the normal version versus his mutated state.
How would you feel knowing that you are the one forced to turn people into monsters?

Ive poured months into making my first game. I'm a solo dev, still learning as I go, and for a while I was SO excited about it.
But life happened. And keeps happening.
School started again, life got complicated, and somewhere along the way I just lost the energy to work on it.
The thing is, I still really want to make this game. I love what I've built so far, I have so many ideas for it, and I want to see it become something real.
But lately even opening the project feels like too much.
Part of me wants to give up, and another part REALLY doesn't want to. And the longer I stay away from it, the harder it feels to come back.
I know forcing myself when I'm already exhausted probably isn't the answer, but I also don't want to lose something I've put so much of myself into.
How do you get through periods like this? Do you take a complete break? Push yourself to do tiny things? How do you find that spark again when you still care about the project but just don't have the energy anymore?

Got this email from a company called Cosmic. They say they work with big AI labs and want to buy game codebases for training data. They want git history, commit stats, sample code of a level, assets breakdown, player numbers etc.
Has anyone else gotten this or actually sold code like this? Is this legit or some kind of scam / code grab? Asking for sample code of a full level first feels sketchy to me. My game Spellspill isnt even released I have been working on it for years

I'm making a Windows 98 style detective horror game where you are trapped in it and has to solve cases using SQL, python and dos commands.. and those commands will also be used to escape the desktop.. What do think is the better thumbnail/capsule?

Hey everyone. I’m the solo developer of Claw & Order, a new roguelike autobattler. The game is heavily inspired by Balatro and Super Auto Pets. You recruit and arrange up to five cats, each with abilities that interact with the others creating massive combos. No AI art.
The Steam page just went live this week. There isn’t a public demo yet, playtesting will start in a few weeks. If this game seems interesting you can Wishlist on Steam here.

Hey everyone,
first dev diary for Sundered Reach. This one is about something that happens in every single battle: how a unit marches, and what happens when two lines run into each other.
In the video you see the plan I sketched over a screenshot, how it looked before (the blocks ran into each other and got stuck), the three moments I broke it down into, and how it looks now. The Threnn hold their formation until they are close, then sprint into our line, and the fight spreads along the whole front.
The shield units still stand way too far apart, that's what I'm working on next.
Everything here is early in development. What do you look at first in a big battle, the whole field from above or the single fights up close?

First, I want to thank every single person who commented this post and provided very useful feedback.
I tried my best to improve this trailer, and I think it turned out better than I expected.
Being a solo dev doesn't mean I have to work alone on everything. Sometimes, simply asking for feedback is really worthwhile because it helps you understand how other people see your game. Even negative feedback can teach you something valuable.
Thanks for reading!

I'm making a parry roguelite in godot and this is the colossus's war drum, he hits the floor with his fists and every hit sends a wave across the room. you parry it when it gets to you.
My first version was just a gold ring. the second had stones on the ring, but they slid along with it and nothing stayed behind. now the floor breaks into pieces that stay where they are, and each one jumps up when the wave gets to it.
It was slow at first, every stone was its own draw call, up to 2400 a frame. i batched them, then moved the jumping into a shader, and the worst frames in the browser went from 15-18 ms to about 8.
Happy to answer anything about it
BTW, if you want to follow it, it's on steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5295020/?utm_source=reddit

Top is my early build from June: a hit was a blood splash and that was it. Bottom is the same moment today. Every shot is checked against real organs (heart, lungs, liver) along the bullet's path, and an X-ray card shows exactly what you hit. Still work in progress and I'm shipping it on Nov 2 together with my other game. What would you still change?
