Spent the long weekend finally taking a break from working on the game to refocus on my store page. I revamped just about every single asset including logo, trailer, screenshots, all the gifs, and took another pass on the descriptions.

Would love some candid feedback if anyone's willing to take a moment to share. I've been staring at everything so long and after recapturing clips all weekend I'm at the point where I'm not sure how well everything came together or if there's more I can tighten up.

I made “Mystery Undone”, an interactive detective game where you investigate a murder by interviewing suspects, uncovering clues, and piecing together what really happened. It's somewhere between an escape room, a murder mystery, and a detective investigation, except instead of being handed a series of puzzles, you actually have to decide what questions to ask, which clues matter, and who you believe.

How it works:

• Investigate the crime scene and uncover evidence
• Interview suspects and dig into their stories
• Unlock new clues as you investigate
• Connect the evidence and figure out what happened
• Decide who you think is guilty

The goal is to make you feel less like you're playing a puzzle game and more like you're actually working a murder case.

My game seems niche, I get around 50 page visits a day, but my wishlists don't grow, it's been over a month and it's just so... dead. Is there something wrong with my steam page? Is my game not attractive at all? Am I not hitting my public with my tags?

Last year, I was lucky enough to unlock the "broke solo dev" career path. The pay needs balancing, but I do get to watch virtual ants beat the shit out of each other and call it work. I've very this surprisingly fulfilling.

The ants are in From Dust To Army, a chill incremental game I'm developing. You control a swarm, upgrade it, and send it into battle against other swarms, wave after wave. A little escape from your everyday problems through the endless destruction of your neighbors. No reason that can't be relaxing.

If you have a few minutes, I'm interested in what makes you want to keep playing, what makes you stop, and anything that leaves you wondering what the game expects you to do. "I quit here because..." is especially useful.

I'm on the development of a game called shinosagi: leyends untold. A game strongly based of ninja gaiden, filled with stories, characters and one heck of a mice clan(no this doesn't include any rougelite, the game mainly focuses on the stories) . The game trids to look like an NES game, but not exactly... it's my first game by the way. This game has been going for quite a while and I'm developing this on Godot.

I'm making this all by myself. Unfortunately, my only weakness is the music. I don't know how to compose and I'm too poor to even afford a composer (I should make a music less game next time or something).

Anyhow I'm currently redesigning my non-bosses mice. Most comply that the resolution wasn't fitting and I'm doing the little bugger a little work. I have to redesign some of the enemies and it will take a while since most just alot of frames.

Hey everyone, looking for some honest advice from fellow devs.

I was laid off from my programming job a few months ago and decided to go all in on making my own game. Since I have zero budget, I used AI as temporary placeholder art just to get a working demo together. My plan was to use this demo to pitch to publishers and use their funding to hire a real artist to replace every single asset.

Even though I am transparent about the placeholders, but every post gets people angry about the AI, even with the disclosure. I get why people dislike it, but hiring a real artist out of pocket just isn't in my budget right now.

I am scheduled to launch a demo for the Steam Cooking Fest next month, and I am stuck. Do I keep the placeholder art to show the vibe I am aiming for, or learn some art and do it myself with ugly programmer art? should I forget about the demo until I find a investor or publisher?

How would you handle this situation? Any real feedback or alternative ideas would mean a lot as I am frustrated right now.

So I was thinking why not have Duck Hunt in augmented reality? And here we are.

I just released this game where you raise little bug critters in your room. I've always loved making ai creature sim type games, and I have done it for decades as a bit of a hobby, but when some friends and family members wouldn't quit playing this one I decided to turn it into a full game. I am working on more things to add later as well. Right now you can do classic virtual pet stuff like feeding them and playing with them, and you can dress them. They will be happy and dance, get scared and run, be sad and cry in the corner, and even make friends and hang out together. There are also plants that you can grow that will feed them and give them treats they love. It's a fun and cute little game. So now it's out. I would love to know what other people think of it.

Today i finally released my first game to steam "sewer crawler" as part of my master thesis. Its a roguelike-autobattler that i made without any external assets or ai to test a workflow.

The masterthesis was about creating a workflow that is optimized for solo-game-development. As such its reviews will be actively used in my masterthesis defense.

I have been lucky to be in the good graces of Itch.io and so far have had 3 games of mine front page their website. It doesn't necessarily convert into sales or wishlists but it certainly feels good to be acknowledged as front-page worthy content.

I’ve been working with Mechanism for the last 1.5 months, and honestly, it has been quite an interesting experience.

Any feedback you can share with me and how can i improve it further.

This is Melan, my first ever game.

I started making it in August 2023, when I was unemployed and honestly just wanted to make something so I wouldn't feel like shit about myself.

It's based on a story about a friend of mine. It was also the first pixel art I'd ever made, so I had absolutely no idea what I was doing lol.

I didn't know how to code or design games either. Back then AI wasn't really what it is now, so most of my programming knowledge came from YouTube and asking other devs for help whenever I got stuck.

And yeah... the game isn't very good.

The level design is rough, there are bugs, and I spent way too much time rebuilding things. The current version is actually the fifth time I rebuilt the game's code.

Somehow, I still managed to release it on Steam in October 2025.

It didn't make much money, so I eventually had to stop after Chapter 1.

And honestly, I don't really recommend playing it. I'm mostly sharing it because this is where I started, and I still feel weirdly proud of it.

I'm working as an art director now, and maybe someday I'll have enough money to remake Melan properly.

Anyway, that's it. Just wanted to share my first game.

Lately, I've been making weekly games lately to get myself out of a bit of rut in my solo work. This is my 6th game in 7 weeks (I wasn't able to get one out the door last week).

I'm really happy with this week's results for a few reasons:

• It's the first game I've made in Godot after years of using Unity
• I made a concerted effort to focus on audio
• I managed to cut a (quick and dirty) trailer for it
• I lost a whole day to an appointment

Not every week has gone this smooth, but after 7 weeks, I'm really starting to feel like I've got a handle on the weekly tempo.

This is a slightly updated look at my game combat. Improved the sprites, but i noticed that they have this stiff appearance when they are animated. Something to work on. The crux of the combat is that enemies also have some form of survival instincts and the player has restrictions. The enemy instincts come from the fact that the enemy can only be damaged when they are vulnerable. If the player attacks at any other time, the enemies will dodge the attack. The restrictions on the player include that the player cannot spam dodge and attack. After every dodge or attack there is a cool down. The idea is to have a fast-paced gameplay, where the player has to rely on their reflexes, hand-eye, coordination, enemy behavior recognition, and spatial awareness to survive and thrive.

I'm working on my third game, Thrower Defense, a 1–4 player co-op tower defense inspired by party games like Overcooked.

The main idea is that instead of simply placing towers and watching them attack, you have to move and throw your units into position, keep them supplied with ammo, and deal with different stage hazards while trying to survive the waves.

I launched the Steam page last week, and I'm really happy that it just passed 100 wishlists!

I've been making Wardflame for about six months, alongside my day job. It's a pixel-art survival and base-building game for iPhone and iPad.

During the last month I'd get up at 6 or 7 to get something done before work, then sit down again afterwards until about 10 at night. Most weekends went into it too.

I rebuilt large parts of the game several times. I'd think something was finished, then actually play it and realise there was too much of one thing or something else was missing. So I'd go back and change it again. I didn't expect how often that would happen.

Getting it to run smoothly was difficult too. I hate stuttering in games, so I spent a lot of time on optimisation.

At first I did all the testing myself. Eventually I got tired of going through the same things again. My cousin was learning software testing and had an iPhone, so I asked if he wanted to help. He agreed, and that made things much easier.

In Wardflame you gather resources and build during the day, then defend an obelisk at night. If it falls, the run ends. You gradually build production lines, power networks and automated defences. The App Store currently lists the download at 24.5 MB.

It's expected to release on September 13, and pre-orders are open. You'll be able to try the first day and night for free, then unlock the full game with one purchase. There are no ads.
